Reason of Ban: Attempted to murder the RD as a non-antag, suicided in perma.

Reason for Appeal: I had an IC reason for both of those actions. First of all, the RD ruined Jack's carrer, and publicly humiliated him several times over something very minor, which he didn't even start, and ignoring it could have resulted in him being screwdrivered into blindness. Now, Jack's new job was mining rather than scientist, and spending time all alone on that asteroid let him fester, and boil until he cracked, and set his mind on murdering the RD. As for the suicide, Jack would have seen his sentence as the RD winning, which he could not accept, so, rather than face his jailtime, he decided he would kill himself. His first attempt was to break the reinforced window to space, then he prayed to Armok for a blade to kill himself with, and finally, he resorted to his fists. As for my disconnecting, my wifi is unstable. :\ Now, if all of that isn't good fucking reasoning, there's no pleasing you people.

Hmm. Logical for the most part, except the round or shift was around 3 hours. I don't think after an hour and a half of mining, that you would crack, or decide to go and murder someone.

Secondly is the suicide. I'm assuming you know that suicide is against the rules, unless in exceptional cases, and with staff approval given the situation. Yet you did it anyway, and with your fists. Have you ever punched yourself in the head? It hurts! You'd pass out from pain before any fatal damage was really done (I hope, anyway) but still, thumping yourself in the face to death is just bad RP. No matter how you look at it or try and justify it, unless a nasty ghost was in your body, possessing you, you wouldn't and shouldn't pummel your face into oblivion.

Thirdly is the whole self-antagging that you did. If you do intend on trying to murder or get revenge on someone, make sure to try and seek admin-approval before drilling through walls, otherwise, you'll likely get treated as if you were any other griefer trying to ruin someone's round.

Laaaastly, is the disconnecting. Considering you disconnected the instance we winded and messaged you, I'm sure you can see how we would assume you quit on contact, like most griefers do. Taking this into account in conjunction with your already existing notes, I deemed a ban necessary.

But- considering that you actually went through the effort of making this thread, I think your time should be lowered or even removed, but I'd like to see another staff member chime in, first.

Just a quick question - When someone times out from Space Station 13/Dreamseeker/whatnot does it display a message that they timed out, or does it simply state that they disconnected through normal means?

For admins, the game doesn't distinguish how a player logs out. All we know is that they've disconnected.

Yeaaaah, you're right. Punching yourself to death is unrealistic. I should have waited for an opportunity for an easier death to present itself at the very least. But asking an admin's for approval to have my character suicide is just not how I do. I hate when I have to have admin consent to do anything regarding RP that only affects my own character in any significant way. It interrupts the flow of RP, breaking my immersion in the process. Now! I realize I probably should have said something about the RD as well, but I lost myself in Jack a bit, and forgot. Also, I'm painfully aware of the awkward timing. My wifi seems to hate me. Believe me, this was submitted as soon as I confirmed that I was banned.

There are certain types of suicide that are frowned upon. Realistic suicide (lethal injection as a doctor, going on a spacewalk until you run out of air, ODing on something) with IC reason are things we wouldn't even bat an eyelid at - and if you're confident in your ability to RP, then go ahead. But otherwise, as a general rule, we ask that people adminhelp before suiciding because most suicides end up happening in extremely silly ways, over extremely silly things (cutting your own head off or stabbing yourself with a knife 49 times because someone you just met insulted you).

And sadly, most suicides in perma end up happening because of that - griefers, or chucklefucks, who once caught, decide to take their act one step further, by carrying out one last ridiculous action (punching themselves to death).

I think that's about all the info I can think of that'd be relevant to your case. You seem sincere, and like you have a good understanding of what happened here, so I'm lifting your ban.
