What do you expect to gain from exacerbating an 'issue' you have with staff conduct, in which staff reception is overwhelmingly opposed to the belief that you think the handling staff member did anything wrong?

Aren't you a firm believer that staff conduct should be dealt with in a subtle manner? What is this?

Because I didn't make that complaint because I felt personally wronged. I did it because I don't want admins to start PMing users over inoffensive jokes they made as a regular thing.

 

Okay, NOW I see the purpose of this thread, after a cursory review of that reddit submission was done.

And I agree with it. I do not think staff should start PMing users over shitty jokes. To avoid a trend in staff misconduct, so on and so forth. I'm not personally worried about this being set as a precedent, but okay, at least we are all on the same page here, no?

However, as I figure Frances already knows, they were still wrong in not informing the other party they were joking about the character replacement snark made earlier. But, again. Not that bad, but it probably shouldn't ever repeat, either. Jokes like that aren't funny if you don't know the other person.

I don't understand why everyone is claiming what I did was not an obvious joke. Y'all are basically saying a person creating over 300 copies of the same character to play on a HRP server seems like a believable premise to any newcomer to the HRP genre.

We'll agree to disagree, then? My 'main' 'gripe' with all of this is that you gave (mostly harmless) misinformation to a potentially new player.

But that's it, and it shouldn't have been anything past a 'pls don't' response from the administration.

I do understand that a lot of people on here don't seem to agree with me on that joke.

There's not much I can do about it, and it's honestly a bit frustrating because it is an "agree to disagree" situation, but it led to an admin boinking me (and potentially boinking more people) over something I don't think is deserving of a boink. I've honestly done what I can, though - I've given a fair shot at explaining myself, and if the staff are still insistent on disagreeing I won't demand they change for me, I'll just move my business elsewhere.

It feels like the majority of the issue with this all, is Frances used to be our Headmin. The behavior she's exhibited over the past however long, isn't really something to be expected from somebody that was our /Head Admin/.

Oh, no. I know my point. That's why Tish seems so aggravated, I think. Basically, expect more out of somebody, and they keep letting you down, if not outright seeming to be on a crusade to break down your fortitude.

Allow me to just throw in my two cents here, since that's what everyone else is doing and I may as well put my opinion out there.

Keep in mind that this is coming from an administrator who has been volunteering for a year or so now on Unbound Travels, someone who knows full-well how tiring and sometimes frustrating administrating on spessmans can be.

Quite frankly, this complaint shouldn't exist at all. This is directed mostly at Frances, but a bit at Tishina, too. If I were an administrator at the time and I was seeing Frances' and Livid's conversation in LOOC, and I didn't know Livid was a regular/sometimes user on Aurora or SS13 in general, I would most likely take action in a similar manner to Tishina. Jokes are jokes, but if Tishina's statements are true detailing the fact that Frances was making fun of Tishina at their expense, then that's pretty shitty. Even doubly so after Frances then continued to make "jokes" with a player that Tishina had little or no knowledge about. I can legitimately see why Frances was PM'd, and I have absolutely no qualms over the fact that he/she was talked to about making jokes like that to new players. It was an honest mistake on Tishina's part, good, that's all said and done.

However. Reading the logs of the conversation between the two, and although Tishina may or may not have been stressed out from unknown prior events, she/he took a somewhat abrasive and "rough" tone with him, like he/she was talking down on Frances. I believe that is the reason why this complaint even exists, though it shouldn't. Honestly, it doesn't matter if Frances is an ex-headadmin or not, that shouldn't even be a factor in this case, it's the fact that he/she was being shit and then got pissed off because he/she got called out on it. Granted, got called out on it in a somewhat hostile manner, but called out on it nonetheless.

If Tishina was in fact aggravated before he/she spoke to Frances, it should have been clear for Tishina to speak to someone else on the administration team to handle it, not take matters into their own hands.

Tl;dr, Frances was being a shit, Tishina was being somewhat abrasive/hostile, this complaint shouldn't exist, and you're all just blowing this way out of proportion. Please grow up.

Despite the lack of an announced punishment (I have no idea if I got a note, though notes aren't necessarily punishments), the fact Tish contacted me in a fairly aggressive manner (along with the specific explanation he gave early on) made it seem like this was a very important issue to deal with for him. I've known Tish to be impartial, so I also don't think he was saying this just because he hates me.

The presence or absence of a punishment has nothing to do with it - I made this complain to bring attention that I was boinked very aggressively by an admin for making a harmless joke.

Almost entirely throughout my time on this server, I have told people that the way to do certain actions or perform an in game mechanic was to click alt-f4 or to delete systems 32, countless times. I have also witnessed Voltage to tell people to alt-f4 as well. I have never been PM'd, warned or anything of the sort.

Perhaps TishinaStalker just wasn't having a good a day as everyone else? But there have been jokes like this made a plethera of times previously.

It wasn't exactly "resolved", but Doomberg posted an official stance and that's pretty much where the complaint is at.

People have since come in to explain why exactly they agree or disagree with me, and I've been trying to provide explanations.
