Quickly send in the fire fighting Diona!- Anyway, I'll wait to post the App I just thought I would post it so when [or if again] they are implemented, I could be one of the first to play them and help with the events to implement them into aurora daily life Quote

Contextual Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 ...why are their organs mechanical...? The only mechanical bit about them in the lore is their breathing apparatus, which is less than 'vital' provided they have plasma to breathe. Even without, this should just mean they start to suffocate and lose the ability to speak tau ceti basic. Have you disabled their healing capacity? They are entirely hemophilic as a species, and that's the only way I can think to implement that. Quote

Lord Lag Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 The neural tube is a cybernetic implant. No other organs are mechanical. After they mature, they are then heavily augmented, the neural tube being inserted in the back of their head, and any structural and internal machinery placed. Quote

LordFowl Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 They're mechanical because they can be attached to a VR system. I think skull raises a very good point that their internal systems need to be quite alien from human systems, like the Dionaea. Medical should have some trouble repairing these gits, because we just discovered them. Their having sulfuric blood is interesting, for example. Their organs should be in different places (Reminiscent of an actual insect's organs.) They should have unique organs. A possible idea is some sort of difficulty with syringes, since they have an exoskeleton. Anyways, spriting is relatively simple; all sprites are 32x32, and can be done in any program (Preferably a program the supports transparency.) You then save them as a .dmi, and have the item's code call upon the .dmi. Quote

jackfractal Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Cloning is not the cleverest of all our systems. If the Vaucra spawn with their mechanical parts, the cloner would spawn them with those parts. That being said, I think it would be more fun if they had to get them made at robotics and then undergo surgery post-cloning to get back on their feet. Not a complete cloning ban, like Vox, but something that makes them a bit more challenging. It would require some snowflake code, but the idea that they can't speak common or metabolize earth atmosphere with their organic mouthparts is lovely. Quote

Oooh yeah, The Vaucra should have great nightvision, but get their eyes damaged in brighter areas meaning they would need eyeprotection of somesort, welding goggles or sunglasses? and the flashes blinding thing means security can't just spam flashing with Vaucra without facing consequences, it would be prisoner abuse to just blind someone, plus the EMP damage would mean they would have to avoid working certain jobs in engineering and antags like the wizard I don't see traitors using EMP's but the wizard does] Edit: Biology can make most of the mechanical organs minus the ones limited to Vaucra and also, Ive had characters who spawned in with mechanical limbs and when they got cloned they had normal legs and arms and stuff, is that a bug? Lord Lag Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 No. The cloner would clone you. Fully organic. EDIT: To expand, I believe it works by cloning a base of your species. It has been noted in their lore that Vaurca get extremely irritable in bright light, so I believe this should be an RP thing rather than a mechanical one. Quote

Well yes, but if its a actual mechanic, then it would actually have people RP it outinstead of ignoring it by saying "Oh, We edited our eyes, so it doesn't bother us, or we have adjusted to it" ya know? Contextual Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 The only problem here is that regular Vaurca don't have neural tubes, only CA (queens) do. Instead, they have a neural socket, which unless hooked to said neural tube has absolutely no effect on their function, and they could easily live without. Replace it with a breathing apparatus and you're golden. Quote

Guest Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I'm not going to read all of this, I am going to wait for the people who should speak to me before doing shit does it. I spend one night asleep and people think they can bypass me? Quote
