RO-SSD Bracelets/Neckchains

Basically medical bracelets for RO-SSD, which is different than SSD in that it happens sporadically and without much warning (ICly, lagging out/crashing) In theory one examination would alert people that instead of dragging somebody to cryo/dorms, the person should be left alone until given a chance to return.

They'd be worn on the glove slot, or on the mask/attached to a suit like a tie, and would hopefully be a custom loadout item.

So are you saying that people prone to crashing/lagging out should wear this?

Hm. Maybe if when your shift-click somebody wearing this it would appear in big red letters or something

I support this +1

This is actually a really good idea. It can help prevent a premature cryo action for a disconnected player. HOwever we will always have players like that who may have used their entire loadout and don't wish to change it, but this gives everyone the option. I prefer an attachment that won't take up a whole slot.

Hmm... I keep thinking that we really need to add a "time SSD" to the medical hud so that medical staff can tell how long someone has been napping for. That would, hopefully, let them manage SSD cases more easily.

The admins said a long time ago, DO NOT PUT PEOPLE IN CRYO.

There really is no reason, just put them in the dorms if their snoring is too much of a disturbance for your RP. If they ask you to before they leave, then yeah that's cool, but the dorms is there for a reason. If they did that, then there'd be no reason for the item. But people do do it, so the item would be good.

Imagine finding yourself stripped and everything, after crashing five minutes ago. Not to mention having medical bracelets for the crew members at a more moderate risk for SSD would be some better RP.

As for your claim of there being no reason for putting people in cryo, I suppose you've never joined to half of a department SSD taking up the slots because nobody bothered to drop them in cryo.

granted i typically play during peak time, but whenever that happens to me i just ahelp and ask how long the inactives have been gone and if they could free a slot for me

The annoying thing about that is if there aren't any admins on, or just aren't responding, you outright cannot cryo them, because the someone needs to confirm you want the character to be placed into cryo. Plus, every time Ive actually asked if I could put people in cryo, they say something like "They've only be SSD for 30 minutes, give them some time." Even more annoying is the fact that every time Ive been told that is when it was a head.

Just stopping by to say that, as a career CMO, SSD's are NOT medical's issue to deal with. It is not medical's responsibility to do anything more than mark them on the records and that alone is enough for people to drop SSD's off saying "Handle it." If you do that you are only reinforcing the terrible and false belief that medical handles them. Fuck no.

However I do like the original suggestion. Fuck yes.

Also Jboy, you can cryo people without ahelping. The official standard last time I checked was, 20-30 minutes then cryo.

As HoP, I run as it being medical and my own duty to mark and record SSD's. I always cryo people, doing the best I can to record their time and plop them in after 20 minutes, without ahelping. If you've been disconnected for 20 entire minutes, it's fair to have your job slot reopened to give someone else a chance. You can always rejoin if you come back later.

The medical bracelet, in conjunction with a timer for the length of SSD, would be a massive boon. As it goes, I start someone's timer the moment I find them or see them SSD on the record.

I fairly routinely mark crew who I find napping around the station as SSD, and it can often be difficult to tell the difference between someone who is just out for a moment and full-on out-for-the-round SSD. This would be very, very helpful.

It's the job of the department they belong to, friends, and anyone with a little bit of kindness to people's comfort (From an RP perspective). If you saw someone passed out on the floor at work you wouldn't just leave them there without making sure they were alright and comfy.

A little tip for now, there is already a way to tell by shaking them, and if they stand up and you examine them and it says "They have Suddenly fallen asleep" then they are SSD.

It will only say suddenly if they have disconnected.
