Lady_of_Ravens Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 So, apparently the thing where an intellicarded AI with their wireless turned off can still use their AI radio as normal isn't a bug like I first thought. But maybe it should be... particularly for transmitting, as otherwise a kidnapped AI can report everything it sees/hears to security. Without the ability to transmit they'd instead have to use the PDA messenger or :b, both of which are less efficient and good for creating RP.
Sentient Bowtie Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Really, if their wireless is turned off, :b and PDA messenging should both be off as well - PDA messenging for obvious reasons and :b because it's another radio-like form of communication (unless you mean using the latter like someone locally speaking in a different language). Of course, because being completely mute except in a local area would basically render the AI helpless, the AI core should be made slightly harder to get into if one intended to card it.
Killerhurtz Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I'd say maybe have an ANTAG intellicard (or allow emagging an intellicard) to have that disabled. But the default intellicard? You're holding a multi-million-dollar intelligent product and you want to make it more helpless? It would make no sense for the basic intellicard to disallow AI comms.
Lady_of_Ravens Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Antag intellicard sounds good to me.
Carver Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 E-mag can always do with more niche functions vs tech. Neat idea.
CakeIsOssim Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 The binary communication is a direct link to the station and its bound synthetics. Hence, why it still works even if telecommunications are disabled. Cyborgs even have a communication computer inside of them for that specific reason, and if it breaks, they can't use it. An antag intellicard isn't a bad idea, but if you really want to torture your captured AI, the intellicard could list all of the radio channels it has access to, and you can disable each one of them separately.
