The Hegemony Blood Marines (unathis in breacher suits) and Jargon Commandos (Skrell in their warblesuits) are currently supposed to be the most elite and feared fighting forces in our setting. But given our hilarious combat system (praise RNJ for his fairness in all things) they go down literally just as quick as anyone else if you pew pew them with a taser, or hit them with a stun baton.


Making their EVA suits stun-immune unless punctured and keeping their defense against laser damage would really eliminate the immediate trump-cards that you can play against them as a standard defender. You can still 1-hit-KO a unathi in a breacher suit with a stool to the head, so this doesn't make them god-teir - especially since this is making them like hulks without the super-strength.


If you're facing a unathi, in a breacher suit, with an energy shield and a melee weapon, you should have a massive chance of losing.


If you're fighting a genuine Jargon Commando, in his squid suit, with his fancy star-trek shit phaser or whatever, you should be at a massive disadvantage. Think of it like Colonial Marines' Death Squad. Those guys can wipe out the entire server of armed marines. Granted most of the marines are hilariously . . . Deficient in tactical training, but still!


Given that you can't grab these suits without admins spawning them in (how many variants of EVA suits do the skrell get? I may be wrong) we can have these terrifying enemy forces without the fear of them being this group that just mows through the station every other antag round.

The breacher suits share the same status and code from the NanoTrasen one at the eva storage, which makes them extra crappy. So, may buff them and turn those suits into real hardsuits which have any armor value and won't be damaged by a punch. I think it is an important issue too.


Also, bay's rig suits can pretty much work like that, since they can hold even broken bones and look really cool.

IMO, armour should effect the stuns. IE. Someone with no armour would go down in one hit from a baton, with cult armour and hardsuits it would have to take a few hits. I wouldn't mind some armours completely negating it if it's supposed to be super high tech or literally built for melee.

I don't know about overhauling the interaction of stuns vs armor in general. This proposal is about giving us rare enemies with such capabilities that we fear them whenever they arrive. Being immune to stuns is a massive bonus to combat. And it's almost obligatory that the Breacher Suit be buffed if this goes through though because it's better to wear a regular security EVA suit than it.


The ideal would be an EVA suit that acts like a combined ablative and ballistic vest while being stun immune, available in the Unathi Breacher Suits and skrellian... whatever hardsuit. Again I don't think these should be available to ops - they'd be admin-spawnable.
