EORhappiness Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Also. Lore-wise, even though they are considered equivalent to humans, they should have a small superior complex. Like "We survived 3 AI singularities without problem and we're smart enough to not do it again" type of superior complex over humans, while being all like "Why are these pets working on the station" and "We're allowing animals on board?" with the tajara and unathi That might make it interesting. that could be an interesting twist- however on the other side of the coin- they are superior and could have worked /past/ that kind of mindset seeing racism/speicism as primitive and Unnecessary as each species will eventually develop on their own- essentially acting like everyone big brother/father/mother figure. Also- tough to think of some mechanics- I listed some I thought of above. But I really do think they need some sort of advantage to robustness...what about a Burn Damage De-buff? Since they are so smiley and stuffs, a considerable debuff, I mean hell IPC's are immune to chems, why not skrell immune to burns? or Maybe they can ignore gases- that could be a big advantage AND disadvantage, like "oh hey I can walk into this plasma/n20 filled room, BUUUT Anesthetic doesn't work on me etc. Quote
Lady_of_Ravens Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 - And we also have swamp Skrells, that still believe in Dioneas. That's just plain stupid. That's like still believing in mythological gods, in XXI century. Uh... that was a joke, right? I really hope that was a joke, but Poe's Law means I can't be sure. Quote

You misunderstood... Dreamix said that that bit of lore (which, yes, is on the wiki) is as stupid as people believing in mythological gods in the 21st century. But people do believe in mythical gods in the 21st century. So that's why I wasn't sure if it was a joke or poe's law in action. Quote

Frances Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 Any changes to the Skrell skin colours? what colours are acceptable and what causes the different colours? All colors are okay as long as they are not too hard on the eyes. You should probably look at this thread if you have not already: http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4364 If you can find an explanation for why frogs come in different colors, tell me and we can use that. Demonofthefall Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 From what I could find about frog skin colour is that its mostly for camouflage and to warn predators they are poisonous. They can also change the colour of their skin to help with heat absorption. Quote
Frances Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 I was more thinking about what gives them a wide color range. There were also plans to allow Skrells to change their skin color to reflect their emotions, but I don't know if someone wants to code that. Quote
Lady_of_Ravens Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 If frog skin color is camouflage, which is true for most animal skin/fur colors as I understand, then a logical explanation is that the range of colors would be the result of the range of environments in which early skrell lived. Alternately, cosmetic genetic alterations to skin color are well within the range of skrellian science (or human science, for that matter). Quote
Ordessa Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Here's something I haven't seen suggested anywhere. Keep in mind although my whitelist has been accepted the server hasn't updated it yet so I'm stuck with humans and AI. Thermal vision. It's something that very rarely get used AND fits thematically with the amphibious lizard frog people that the Skrell are in essence. Or perhaps even vision that works with a wider range of light? I'm thinking having objects set as light sources only for Skrell players such as plasma or something. I have literally no idea if this would be possible to code, but it's really just conjecture. I do like the idea of toggleable bio-luminessence or emotions changing their color, would make for some interesting RP situations. But this is just my thoughts. In terms of what I like about the Skrell, I love the way they talk. Please do not take that away. EDIT: I mean the logical vocabulary that drops unnecessary words. Not the sshhh. Not shhure about that. Quote
