  1. Seemed absolutely fine to me! Roleplayed well, bantered well with security, and escalated situations well within what is accepted. I have no issue with them being a HoS player.
  2. Sterben is always a delight to see on the manifest, and I love them both for their competency, and as a character. +1
  3. Certainly appears to have a fully fleshed out knowledge of both his character and ipcs in general. Haven't seen your characters on the server, but I suspect that's my fault, having been on low activity the past week. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so its a +1 from me. Side note: There is really no need to put fancy colours in your app, we can all use forum code, and all the colours do is make it slightly harder to read and can be kind of annoying. Unless they actually serve a purpose, such as colour coding something, keep colours to shitposts only.

    Map talk

Maybe I should have worded it better. I meant real mobs. I was not suggesting that the animals spawned with every holodeck switch, in fact, the holodeck was really just an extra, to allow you to choose an environment appropriate to whatever creature you are storing in it. Something akin to a biodome, to house live animals, but with the holo aspect so we can have different biodomes without squeezing multiple biodomes into the area. If this is too much work, or not feasible for any reason, can we just have a little forested area in a glass dome, with one or two protohumans and some other appropriate mobs you can find (or a goat, if you cant)

    Map talk

Alrighty, Science suggestions! Buckle your belt and hold on to your posterior! 1. Change the misc testing room chamber on the research sublevel from 3x3 to 4x4. Make room by pushing it into the asteroid by one, and decreasing the length of the observation area. 2. Place at least one liquid fuel tank in the toxins storage. 3. Give xenobio and scientists access to eachothers departments. Creating crazy experiments is really difficult when xenobiologists don't even have access to misc research. 4. This is the big one. I understand this would be a lot of effort, but it would really help for all sorts of messing around (read:!science!) Instead of that huge window in the sublevel, use that as the entrance to this room I'm about to suggest. A second holodeck. Sounds stupid, but hear me out. Instead of having court rooms, and nightclubs, or whatever the civilian holodeck has, let it switch between a few different environments, jungle, desert, forest, mountain, etc etc. Then, put in it a few protohumans, a goat, some monkeys, and maybe a selection of mobs from golden slimes (not hostile ones). The idea is, this would be a "biodome" of sorts, to house various animals for use as all. Not only does this give xenobio something to experiment with other than slimes, it gives us some other test subjects other than monkeys or the greytide. Size-wise, I would suggest 5x5 or 6x6. 5. Finally, add some more random shit. I'm not joking. Anything you add, someone will find a way to experiment with. "Whats the largest size object you can fit inside a protohuman without killing it?" for example. Honestly. Anything.

    [RACE] Peleng

While I don't want to shoot this beautiful idea down, I don't think it should go through. Not for any reason related to the race, you could have designed the best darn race in the world (and this is pretty close) I still wouldn't want it to go through. As I see it now, we have too many humanoid races. Yes they have four arms, but they are still bipedal, still have alot of the sensory stuff on a fleshy ball (head) supported by a long thin bit (neck) and still manipulate everything with long bendy sticks attached to their sides. I feel like if we are going to add another race, (and I'm not saying we should) they need to be a bit more... radical. No anthropomorphized earth life, probably nothing bipedal, something a bit more "out there" Something more akin to cyborgs, where they really cannot do everything, instead being a specialized role with different organs and medical treatment. Perhaps they could even come with a per round limit, like cyborgs (ignoring robotics) In short, great app, but I feel it has come at an inappropriate time.
  7. Well, Skrell have very little concept of gender past "do the didgeridoo with these gender to make more squids" so maybe that's a good thing. And the name seems fine to me, I've seen far worse on some pusscat crew members.
  8. I can't answer everything, but I hope I can clear some stuff up. First of all, while these questions certainly show your obvious passion for learning everything about the game, we do have both a lore questions subforum and a questions subforum, normally I wouldnt say this, but at the rate you are going general is going to be entirely your threads. 1. As far as I know, (someone can correct me if possible) the average Vaurca is bound. Not all drones and warriors are, but its quite rare to find an unbound one, hence the wording. I do agree the wiki needs his work, but I imagine silver is doing his best, and I hear he is busy with education. The ratio of bound to unbound is over 99:1. 2. Yes. Bound Vaurca are technically allowed to defend themselves from life threatening injuries, and have a naturual sense of self preservation, but they will 100% do things like steal if you tell them to. If a vaurca is rping correctly of course.Be warned though, you will incurred the punishments icly, not the Vaurca. (Species rp does not override ooc rules, they still will not murder bone). Bound Vaurca are there as employed by nanotrasen as free workers. The hives ( with the exception of lii'dra, the antag hive) seek to improve relations with other factions by sending drones and the occasional worker to assist, in exchange for goodwill. Companies are especially accepting of them despite their comparative newness, because they are essentially slaves. 3. I agree with you 100% about the armor, five inches seems ridiculous. There are no mechanical differences between any Vaurca, only RP and such. And the Vaurca sending a type BB to the station, while it would be cool will probably not happen, as it is a tad overkill. Think USA sending a destroyer to assist an inland mugging. Not only would it be a huge waste of resources, getting a destroyer would be impossible, similar to how getting a biological weapons platform onboard a space station is also difficult. [EDIT] Reworded stuff to make more sense.
  9. Remember you can advertise your application once per round in OOC. I imagine the reason no official comment has been made is no ones posted any feedback on your characters yet. Also, you should really put that signature pic in a spoiler, its quite large.
  10. I understand the new map isn't out yet, nor do we have any idea what the research division will look lime, but I'm making this in the hope that the mappers see this and take this into consideration. Make research bigger. Give us actual rooms to test stuff (as of now telescience and the testing room has become one) And more generic stuff that doesn't have any use for the purposes of RnD levelling, robotics, or xeno but we can use for our own Rp focused experiments. For example either give us a chemaster on station, or preferably, a tank of every chemical available from the Chemaster. A stock of protohumans for test subjects, maybe even something like a nurse spider, space carp, or any other animal that makes xenobiology more than just breeding slimes. What I'm getting at is that if we wanted to do actual experiments (like a research station should) its very difficult to find the room and supplies to do so.
  11. Personally, I'm against this, but only because quite a few engineers don't have anything more than a basic understanding of atmospherics (myself included). Keeping them separated would probably ly be a good idea in my opinion.
  12. What used to be telescience is now labeled misc research, so one would assume that is the place for testing all sorts of shit. Just make sure you take out the fuel tank from the room first. As for the flamethrower, are we sure it doesn't work? Bibiexs RD did an experiment recently with testing temperatures of photon for effectiveness of werfing flammen everywhere. But perhaps that was old code, and I'm just forgetting.
  13. As I've said before, Dave Duran is one of the few people present on the exodus that I'd love to meet. In my opinion, just the right mix of hilarity and rp. Despite the comedic aspect, he still roleplays pain, shock, and terror/impending doom pretty well, which is a refreshing change from the uberbaddass dontgiveadamn barely even notice pain gritty coolguys we usually have. And as menown said, Dave Duran is my spirit animal too.
  14. Grumble grumble. Still, a comment from either Silver or Jackboot confirming if I have been accepted or not would be nice. Im on edge here man
  15. Byond key: Ordessa Character names: Elysiqua Va, Arkhaes Va, Andrew Riker, ALICE, all the atomic brand Borg's (QUARK, ELECTRON, etc.) What times are you available? In GMT: 5:00-10:30 give or take an hour. Do you have any experience with Moderating? Or similar. Moderated a Warhammer 40k forum for about 6 months before server management reshuffle, fairly low maintenance stuff as everyone was pretty good friends, but still worth mentioning. Aside from that, I DM a lot for some DnD groups, which is similar in a way to Duty Officer. Why do you want to be a Duty Officer? Because, at the risk of sounding like some benevolent world leader, I enjoy and am better at making fun for other people more than myself. (Hence the DMing) I'm a decent roleplayer, but I'm never great at making interesting chars for myself, and find more enjoyment doing it for the community. Second of all, unless y'all need a 3D modeller, I don't have any way to give back to this wonderful community at the moment, and this would be a great way to do stuff for others. How well can you handle stress? Fairly well. I can keep track of multiple situations at once, but when it comes to important decision making that I'm unsure about, I'll probably a help it first. What does it mean to be a Duty Officer? To me, as I understand it, it means instead of being your own character, you act as a pseudo dungeon master, all the while remaining IC for others. You issue Central Command orders, reply back to emergency transmissions, and generally assist with the flow of the round without actual having much of a direct influence on it (compared to a wizard or meteorlingvampire conglomerate). This includes creating mini events to help keep an extended round interesting for all, as well as meeting the crew back on Odin if plausible. It requires a lot of in game lore knowledge, and understanding of all of Auroras mechanics and crew regulations. How active on the forums and server are you? Unless Im preoccupied with something else, I'll at least check the forums every night. Usually I'll be posting my 2 cents on any discussion that warrants it as well. On the server I probably average about 10 hours a week, usually two or three long play sessions. But it's not unusual for me to be afk on observe, then join in as ERT or a posibrain or something like that as well. Anything else to add? Golem. Also, Skull's icon is way too Christmasy for March. It irks me.
  16. I too am with Jackboot. I loved the quirky, weird shells, and the tagging system looks great. The polaris models for me look way too... Thin? They seem like the inner working of a robot, where armor would be placed on top, not a 100% working robot. I admit I still don't understand shells, ipcs and the like, but I have a feeling allowing people to make their chars synthetic would be over used, similar to how a disproportionate amount of crew on the station have mechanical hearts limbs. Just my two cents.
  17. So is that a yay, or nay? Pretty sure wait time is over now, and I'm itchin to play Vaurca.
  18. Seeing as Unathi essentially lizards, how about we give them no natural heating and make them cold blooded? For example, after being in Cryo, (the medical kind) they have to stand in front of a lamp to warm up? I have no idea if its possible to code this, just conjecture. Also, will Skrell be getting the same treatment? Apart from the age thing, and the vegetarian aspect, they are no more different than Unathi are.
  19. Oh its you! The one who told me that through pager's that you (and I quote) "I hope you jump off a bridge you shit nigger fuck face go dye haha" and all because I told you you were getting hysterical. As I recall, you were later banned from Hippie, I presume never to return. Having looked through your other appeals (I have very little to do as a receptionist, so I might as well chuck in my two cents while getting paid) I think its safe to say you haven't changed at all. While I doubt anyone really has any opinion that isn't a firm denial, I would advise against unbanning this guy. Perhaps when you have matured or changed your attitude, you could try again. For now.. Man Up, Deal with it Move on.
  20. That's exactly why I want to play one. I purposely tried to make this character the least snowflakey as possible.
  21. As someone who very recently made a vaurca app which is thus still in processing (hint hint), I'm not the best to comment on the situation, but I'm still inputting feedback. In my opinion, mechanically they are great, and how all aliens should be. Clear strengths, weaknesses, and mannerisms. I do have one question though, how do bound vaurca respond to threat? Say they are ordered to run through a fire, are they allowed to revert to primal instinct and run, or must thy obey? Same questions for all sorts of threat situations, can they act upon their instinct and retaliate, or do they have to obey? Lore wise... Its best to say I don't envy your position. I don't know how much is written by you and how much by previous writers, but its a little bit of a mess. I have high hopes that as the players don't understand them are filtered out and lore inconsistencies or unclear issues are fixed, they will be played to as high a standard as the Diona. (Not that other species are played well, but I have yet to see anything other than a great Diona)
  22. Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you understand the struggles of writing a backstory for an intentionally dull and unsnowflakey character. Dreviore, since this characters name begins with Ka' that dictates they are type A, a worker drone. Similarly, Za' means type B, and thus a worker. Having half the characters back story dictated by the name, while great from a gameplay standpoint, cuts out a lot of back story. Perhaps I should!d have added it though, for the purposes of fleshing out the back story and for people who didn't just spend half an hour memorising Vaurca lore to get all the info.
  23. BYOND Key:Ordessa Character Names: Elysiqua-Va (Skrell Scientist) Arkhaes-Va (Skrell Doctor) Andrew Riker (Human Warden). ALICE (AI) and all the ATOMIC borgs (QUARK, ELECTRON...) Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Grey? If it's anything like Skrell you can't get them to be all colours, just some, and I imagine it's limited to greys. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Though I must admit, it is a tad vague in places, so feel free to correct any mistakes I have made Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Because the whole idea of a race with the large majority of their consciousnesses gone off to play some Space Habbo Hotel on Mama's back intrigues me deeply. (just to clarify, that was a joke. I understand how the Paradise system works with type CA Vaurca) I also like the submissive, mindless aspect of the bound's intelligence, for the same reason that I love playing Borg's. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: For bound vaurca specifically, follow all your orders, (unless they are murderboney or other stupid things), and generally act as if you have no free will, save for the sort of reactionary stuff a cornered animal might have. What I mean by this is, unless you are ordered against it, flee from fire, explosions, people who can hurt you. I don't mean immediately chomping down on someones jugular soon as they fart in your general direction. There is also szpeech impekdiment, we... talklikke ...this! Character Name: Ka'Viax'Ekko'K'lax Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs A bound drone, body type A, Ekko comes in at about 5 and a half foot. It's exoskeleton is a light grey, with the faintest of a purple specularity beneath it. Like most bound drones who work at NT, Ekko was sent to represent its hive to the rest of the sentient and law abiding species. It's hive sent out a clutch of drones to represent themselves, and it just so happens that NT assigned Ekko to the NSS Exodus. It of course felt no emotion about this because it's sentience is contained in Paradise, it's body serving NT without pay or complaint. The body has been trained with basic mannerism's, Tau Basic, and how to operate a cargo computer. (I'm really trying to get a paragraph out of this one. It's a mindless drone. Unless you want a snowflakey drone that crash landed on the station and had to be lured out from a maintenance tunnel with mushrooms or some shit, this is all I can come up with) What do you like about this character? As said before, the mindlessness, and the fact that I really don't have to focus on small talk and such. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'm not using some archaic number system this time, instead some words. In general, I would consider myself decent, but I can tend to get a little less in character when in high pressure situations. Notes: I understand this isn't the best application, but it's difficult to write a backstory for a mindless drone. If you have any suggestions or advice, I will be more than happy to take them into account.
  24. After explaining via looc that I was learning IAA, Amnesty Lund took my character (Clara Taylor) through a great crash course in IAA ic'ly, and helped me get into the role (even though I lost it now because head whitelists). Erransis Tup'Fedranin is also an incredibly assertive and a great character and does RP interactiong yadayadayaya. I am sure he will do great with robot prawn.
  25. Welp, I thought that subforum was only for IC content. Anyway, I've talked to the guy/gal in question through looc now, and given him some advice, and he's agreed to try and take it a bit more seriously. For all intents and considerations, please view this thread as void/null. Feel free to lock it or delete it. (Can I do that?)
