PnP Roleplay

Since I'm now free at weekends, I was thinking about running a few Pen and Paper roleplay sessions, akin to Dungeons and Dragons, but a lot simpler. I'll be running off a D8 system, with 1-2 being a critical fail, 3-4 being a fail, 5-6 being a success, and 7-8 being a critical success. I'd be happy to either run this on Skype or an IRC channel. I called for a quick check on how many people would be up for this on the server, and I've posted this thread here to organise it. Post if you would want to come along!

Also, if you have any preference, pick a setting and I'll run a story based on the setting that has the majority vote!

Sure, I'll join. How do we go about making characters? Sci-fi? Fantasy? I have the DnD players handbook and Monster Manual if that helps. And an older DM guide.

I prefer high fantasy settings, but I can roll with just about anything.

I suppose I might tolerate fantasy if it's for a pen and paper thing, if only for the stories I've read about awesome campaigns. Though I know jackshit about anything fantasy related. Like elves. Or Orcs. Or anything to do with weird ass magic.

High Fantasy is Lord of the Rings/ World of Warcraft esque fantasy. Elves, Dwarves, Demons, Gods, minimum technology, good old sword, board and magic.

Excluding the gnomes and goblins, and the ancient titan stuff; which doesn't pop up that much.

Since High Fantasy seems to be a relatively agreed on theme, we'll stick to that. Feel free to write up characters in any way you want. They'll only really be for cosmetic detail, since we're working on dicerolls with no stat modifiers or anything, so feel free.

I literally have no idea how Roll20 works, so we'll run this over an IRC or Skype. Any preference as to which? Also, are people available tomorrow to do this?

I prefer Skype, as I am not entirely clear on what an IRC actually is. And sure, tomorrow sounds good.
