Chaznoodles
Since I'm now free at weekends, I was thinking about running a few Pen and Paper roleplay sessions, akin to Dungeons and Dragons, but a lot simpler. I'll be running off a D8 system, with 1-2 being a critical fail, 3-4 being a fail, 5-6 being a success, and 7-8 being a critical success. I'd be happy to either run this on Skype or an IRC channel. I called for a quick check on how many people would be up for this on the server, and I've posted this thread here to organise it. Post if you would want to come along! Also, if you have any preference, pick a setting and I'll run a story based on the setting that has the majority vote! Quote Link to comment
Rusty Shackleford
I've never actually done pen and paper shits. Potentially interested. Quote Link to comment
Valkrae
What's this? A pen and paper rp session? I WILL GO OUT OF MY WAY TO MAKE SURE THE STORY GOES ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE? IS THAT MAN A PLOT DEVICE? I WILL THROW HIM INTO THE NEAREST LAKE. NEED THAT AMULET FOR SOME QUEST? INTO THE LAKE. WHAT'S THAT? THE PRINCESS IS TRAPPED IN A TOWER? WHOLE TOWER GETS A LAKE AROUND IT. Gollee
Sure, I'll join. How do we go about making characters? Sci-fi? Fantasy? I have the DnD players handbook and Monster Manual if that helps. And an older DM guide. Quote Link to comment
Valkrae
A friend of mine created a cyberpunk system for a tabletop RPG based off of Pathfinder. Quote Link to comment
Chaznoodles
I'm assuming nobody has preference for setting, then? Uh. Making characters will be a thing when we've set on a setting. Quote Link to comment
Gollee
I prefer high fantasy settings, but I can roll with just about anything. Quote Link to comment
Rusty Shackleford
I suppose I might tolerate fantasy if it's for a pen and paper thing, if only for the stories I've read about awesome campaigns. Though I know jackshit about anything fantasy related. Like elves. Or Orcs. Or anything to do with weird ass magic. Quote Link to comment
Vittorio Giurifiglio
I would be sooper interested and High Fantasy sounds badass. Quote Link to comment
Rusty Shackleford
I guess I could do what I do when I play Fallout and max out stealth and shit like that. Quote Link to comment
Gollee
I would be sooper interested and High Fantasy sounds badass. Â High Fantasy is Lord of the Rings/ World of Warcraft esque fantasy. Elves, Dwarves, Demons, Gods, minimum technology, good old sword, board and magic. Quote Link to comment

I know what it is, and WoW is not that low tech.... Quote Link to comment
Gollee
I know what it is, and WoW is not that low tech.... Â Excluding the gnomes and goblins, and the ancient titan stuff; which doesn't pop up that much. Quote Link to comment
Chaznoodles
Since High Fantasy seems to be a relatively agreed on theme, we'll stick to that. Feel free to write up characters in any way you want. They'll only really be for cosmetic detail, since we're working on dicerolls with no stat modifiers or anything, so feel free. Rusty Shackleford
But how will we actually put this shit off? Quote Link to comment
Vittorio Giurifiglio
But how will we actually put this shit off? Roll20? Quote Link to comment
Rusty Shackleford
I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS Quote Link to comment
Chaznoodles
I literally have no idea how Roll20 works, so we'll run this over an IRC or Skype. Any preference as to which? Also, are people available tomorrow to do this? Quote Link to comment
Gollee
I prefer Skype, as I am not entirely clear on what an IRC actually is. And sure, tomorrow sounds good. Quote Link to comment
Rusty Shackleford
IRC is internet relay chat. Stuff like Mibbit, Icechat, etc. Quote Link to comment
Gollee
Actually, depending on timing, I may not be able to be around tomorrow, I have an Apocalypse game that was organised a couple of weeks ago tomorrow. Quote Link to comment
Vittorio Giurifiglio
tomorrow is fine. Quote Link to comment
Rusty Shackleford
http://roll20.net/ Oh my fuck. Why would we use Skype or IRC? This looks fucking awesome. Quote Link to comment
