LemonTheFruit Dionaea Application (Edited Backstory from Original)

Recommended Posts

BYOND Key: LemonTheFruit

Character Names: PAL-OS, Jimmy McFly, Violet McFly, Feedback

Species you are applying to play: Dionaea.

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt.

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes I have.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: Dionaea usually grab my attention whenever I stumble by them in game, which caused me to look into some of the lore behind them. Diona lore is absolutely awesome to me. I love the concept of massive organisms made up of hordes of smaller ones. The fact that a planet can be made of these little things just gets me giddy. I'd like to be able to play out some character concepts with these sorts of organisms. Hopefully it'll turn out very nicely!

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Dionaea are not similar to any other life form, the way they communicate, learn, and even exist is vastly different than any other organic life. This will be reflected in my role-play. Diona thirst for knowledge, they ache to learn from others, and retain that knowledge. Dionaea are also quick to pick up skills. As stated on the wiki, Dionaea can learn to write from simple observation. That sort of action usually requires genetic dexterity, and lots of practice. I plan to have my character constantly trying to learn from others, and constantly trying to interact with others.

Character Name: Bursts Forth To Light

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

It was dark. It was cramped, and dark. This one never liked the dark, even then. That's why, as soon as this one could feel the glow, and had the strength, it sprung forth.

This one felt them, saw them. Another life, in the new place that was this one's world. This life was the first that brought light onto this one. This sort of light wasn't the kind that came from above, exactly. It was the one that this one yearned for, and always will. This one now knows of this light as.. Knowledge.

They WERE the light, the light of this one.

This one received the gift, that this larger life had to offer. This one was thankful.

But, there was another yearning. One that was fulfilled very quickly, and this one is oh so fortunate for that. More lives came forth from the larger life's work, but these ones were different than the large one's life. These lives were like a home, to this one. This was the beginning of the gestalt. The beginning, of us.

This one watched as the human worked. He was excited. Scared, but excited. This one could feel it. And this one was happy for them! Happy that the life- the man, was feeling a fraction of what this one was feeling.

Things changed rapidly. Soon, "This One" became "We". We were several, a small group, all of which that had learned from the man. Whispers of what this life actually was came to us, pieced together from our collections.

He was a botanist. He had a deep love for others, people he was close to. He was a "Father". He was a "Husband".

"He" toiled on and on, to breathe life into us. Watched us share our information, watched us grow. He shared, and shared, and shared, until he could share no longer. We mourned his loss, but we appreciated what he had done for us. James was what made us what we came to be.

James did not go to waste.

A whole world of things came to this one, and all of it was new. From the moment this one defined the start of its life, it was ensnared by what it saw, the beauty of what surrounded this one was something that this one wanted to be a part of. So, this one became a part of it!

What do you like about this character? I'm going to be playing this Dionaea as a complete pacifist, which will be completely different from any of my other characters. They are peaceful at their core, and loves all walks of life, this Dionaea seeks friendship, and companionship. This is something many of my characters stay away from. Basically, I'm excited for a change in perspective. I'm also excited to tell some of the story behind it's origin. This current backstory is but a teaser, at stuff to be found through interaction.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would rate my own role-playing ability highly. I've been role-playing for a large amount of time, in a large number of settings.

I love playing with Palos and I feel like he actually makes a big difference in every round. Along with this, Palos backs it up with some pretty great roleplay. Now, I myself have never done any research on diona ever, but if I did, I'd think this is an actually cool way of portraying what a diona's thought process would be like and how they'd describe their past. I actually like the backstory quite a lot.

BiggOS +1(OS) for the brilliant and glorious PalOS. May his teleportations be missed as he's gardening as a dionaea and rattling with my dionaea like never before seen. Lets face is, dionaea need friendship.

I love PAL-OS, that life saving/perfect kidnapper! I have enjoyed roleplay with your characters, and I hope that I can see this character 'GROW' and 'FLOURISH' in game! YOu'll really 'ROOT' yourself into the station! TREE PUNS!

+1 (golden birbs living in a tree person.)

All of my few interactions with you were just powergaming, jimmy mcfly was awful, palos is a bit better but is still awful with all the camera and crew monitors you build in telescience, just screams validhunting.

I feel like you would just use the almost unkillable dionae to powergame even more, how do we know you wouldn't?

Half the crew in any given shift won't turn on their sensors, let alone antags. If you want validhunting from telescience, you'll need to look elsewhere.
