whiterabit
BYOND Key: Whiterabit Character Names: Alexis Sutton, Stephanie Moore, Aaliyah Kha’jur, Lyla Rathen, Katie Auman, Natalya Zimmer, Verna Marshall, Karagh Mi’dynh, Valerie Ludwigg Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Red Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Probably. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: When I applied for Tajara my interest was mostly based around making a single character, I liked the dynamic it would make for an engineer and I found that I really enjoyed the cultural differences present in playing one. Similarly for this, my interest in Unathi is more for a single character rather than multiple and after reading through the Unathi lore I think there’s plenty to work off of in order to making something interesting. More specific to this character, my hopes are to create something that can revitalize my interest in security, with engineering, simply having the added flavour brought by playing a Tajara really helped to keep things interesting. My expectations are the same for security through an Unathi whitelist and as much as I would love to play a character which subverted expectations, an Unathi cadet is where I’ve landed. Though this may raise some flags, I hope that my experience playing Alexis as security has given people enough room to trust me with it. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Starting off with the simple mechanical changes, hang on your s’s like a good little reptile, avoid salad and scarf down meat. Unathi culture based on Moghes is much different than the other races, tribal but not backwater like it’s often thought of. This affects the hierarchy of their society as well as many parts of their culture, the worth of an individual is derived in relation to their clan, how important they are to their clan or simply the importance of the clan. Parts of Moghes, especially the urban centers held by the Izweski are heavily modernized, plumbing, electricity and a range of transportation including off-world transit are available. Effects of their rapid modernization are seen in almost all areas of the planet however, both sides of the war beginning to see implementation of more advanced weaponry with the Izweski specifically fielding breachers. It’s important to remember that they aren’t just savages fighting with metal spears, even if those influences can still be seen in their way of life. Character Name: Vesiki Shla’zek Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Life on Moghes was by no means luxurious. For those unlucky enough to be hatched to a clan of the outer territory, life was a constant struggle, frequent hunts and the raiding of other clans was often a necessity in order to ensure not only survival, but prosperity. Even before the Contact War, life had not been easy, but with nuclear fallout bringing ruin to a majority of the habitable land on Moghes, things only became worse. Some however, were lucky, hatched to a clan with deep roots into the Izweski Nation more often than not, allowed for a safer life within the confines of Skalamar. Vesiki was lucky, hatched to the clan Shla’zek he was not forced into a life struggling each day to survive. Born only six years before the nukes fell on Moghes, Vesiki saw little of life outside the city, his exposure largely made up of periodic hunts in the within the vicinity of Skalamar or through the occasional escort of supplies directed to To’ha’dat or Imas’hi. Within the city, he often took interest in the stories told by other Unathi who had gone and returned from trips off world. Overpopulation within Skalamar was a constant issue, with the habitable land on Moghes shrinking and the danger of living in the in the country, many tried to find residence within the cities. This left ample opportunity for Nano-Trasen’s recruitment propaganda, opportunities for those who would leave Moghes in fields which they might not have the be able to otherwise, escape from ever looming death by nuclear fallout or simply the chance at comforts in places which wouldn’t suffer from the same overcrowding as the major cities of Moghes. Taking time to gather the support from the members of his clan, he signed a contract with Nano-Trasen. What do you like about this character? Most of what I like about this character stems from the general cultural differences which stem between Unathi and Humans. An example of this being his would be desire to challenge himself, a way of proving his fitness and keeping himself at a perceived peak. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I don't really like to comment on this myself, it's something I prefer to let others speak for. Examples have been posted on both of my previous apps and anything posted here can serve as a testament for or against my roleplaying ability. Notes: The backstory was a bit lacking on establishing a personality for the character, which is likely to set this application back I’m aware. A particular difficulty I have, which was also present in my Tajara app is finding a believable reason for someone to want to leave their home planet to work for an alien corporation. Typically with these backstories I end up essentially listed the bulletpoints of their life instead of the parts which might give a deeper insight into their personality. Honestly this hasn’t ever seemed like an issue to me as what’s important is how the character acts on server, although it’s something I’ve started becoming aware of, more so when re-reading through the backstory once again after I wrote it. Hopefully what’s there will suffice, although I’m prepared to do a re-write if necessary. Link to comment
Snoopy11
Played with many of Rabbit's characters and I know they are up to par with RP standards, though I'm not knowledgeable on the Unathi backgrounds to say if it is good or not. +1 Gross, lizards. Link to comment
moltenkore
In all my interactions with Whiterabit's characters and I can say for sure they are a great RP'er and I've always had fun. Unathi is certainly a void in my lore knowledge but I'm sure Whiterabit would make an excellent gecko as they are very capable of RP'ing alien races. +1 lime tree from me. Link to comment
Catnip
Finally posting feedback here, not bias ayy. Rabit's already proven to be good at RPing ayylium races with their Tajara whitelist, and all their characters are believable and likable. I have no doubt that gecko rabit will be a great addition to the crew. +1 Link to comment
November
I had a great time playing pAI for Karagh, and I felt like Rabit was really good about adhering to the Tajaran lore. Never once did I notice them slip up the accent or pronouns, nor any behaviour that was out of place. Having made the conscious effort to stay in character between speaking in the Tajaran language without the accent, then back into Basic is a pretty good indicator of their dedication to getting things right with alien species. +1 Link to comment
Guest Marlon Phoenix
Hello! Sorry for the delay. You show a solid understanding of the Unathi and while your backstory is lacking your explanation helps me to look over that. Quite a few people find it easier for them to develop characters on-the-fly. I'm eager to see how you develop Shla’zek on-station and where he ends up. Application accepted! Link to comment
