[Accepted] UnknownMurder's Antagonist Ban Appeal (7/31/16)

BYOND Key: UnknownMurder

Total Ban Length:* 53 Days

Banning staff member's Key: TishinaStalker

Reason of Ban: Banned from Syndicate - Setting off a bomb in departures right as the shuttle arrived. Effectively ganking 12+ people, conducting EoR grief, and killing SSDs in the process. Do not appeal for at least a week.

Reason for Appeal:

I'm just going to comment before you are clouded by a sense of misjudgment from the Reason of Ban. I apologized OOCly to everyone over OOC. Most people were forgiving, sine people were 'Oh well, that was fun, round was short anyways', few people were pissed off. The bomb was triggered at the same time of the arrival. Ah. Let's just drop it.

I believe that I should be unbanned from the Syndicate/Antagonist Roles because I was able to demonstrate support for the antagonist and cheering them from the bleachers at some point, henceforth good sportsmanship. In most cases, I show good sportsmanship to all sides. Though, I do offer many opportunities (not baits) to antagonists to take action as some people does not or hesitates. I wish to return to once a good example of being antagonist and make the round more interesting to have most of the crew partake in the round as I've attempted often.

A good example of my antagonist demonstration with the Aurorians of United Aurora Station on privately hosted Arrow's server (FTL13). I was the Chief Engineer of the N.M.V. Artemis, I was picked as an antagonist to assassinate a V.I.P. (?) before the V.I.P. gets the data to a target destination. The special condition was not to inform the NanoTrasen that the Syndicate was involved in the incident. In order to meet my resolve, I planted a long-ticking bomb by the Supermatter with Arrow's permission and stuck to the Captain's (Alberyk) side for about 5 minutes. After it has blown, I immediately grabbed the Plasma Canister, spoiling the canister on the V.I.P. and drove myself into 'insanity' in order to cover it up all this Syndicate operation by lighting myself on fire and immune to the fire due to Advanced Rigsuit whilst running around the station. In the end of the round, not only I had accomplished my objectives but I have entertained the players, including the AI (Killerhutz) who was in state of awe staring at me unable to comprehend what is going on.

*Assuming duration of ban I was banned for.

Frankly, I don't care for your example. I'm not going to "drop" the shuttle event because the shuttle event is why you were antag banned in the first place. What I care about is the fact that you, CONSCIOUSLY, ganked 12+ people, there was a few SSD amongst them, and you made the CONSCIOUS decision to do it the exact instant the shuttle arrived. Both the bomb and the shuttle were on a sync'd up timer and that just screams "pre-meditation". You went all the way from the bridge to the escape wing, knowing fully well you were about to bomb escape as the shuttle arrived, and never once stopped to think "Wait, this is really against the rules. What am I doing." when you had more than enough time to do that. On top of that, when confronted by other players, the only thing you could say to defend yourself or explain your actions to them was "Meh". And at the end of it all, you're staff. You're held to a much higher standard than regular players because you're someone we can count on.

Do you understand how bad this looks? Lemme simplify it to you from my point of view.

  • Staff member brings bomb into escape
  • Bomb was sync'd up to escape shuttle timer
  • Staff member ganks 12+ people, and effectively breaks several, huge antagonist rules
  • Staff member's only explanation to others was "Meh"

So on top of breaking multiple, critical rules, your explanation to your colleague simply told me that you didn't care about following rules. You were way too quick to bury the hatchet. You didn't care about what you did as antagonist as long as you did it. That's what you showed me. It has absolutely nothing to do with your sportsmanship or your past as an antagonist. So tell me, why should I believe you've changed and learned from this event? You say you want to return to being a good example, but how are you going to do that? Do you earnestly even care about the antag rules after this event?

I can't comment much for bulleting for 1-3, I do know that I have broken a couple rules.

Bulleting 4: That was the response to only, and I mean, only to Hivefleet. You see, if a staff member simply replies "Meh" to the angry crowd, I suppose you'll know what happens afterward, a permanent ban. Fortunately, I am not stupid. I explained my actions to the players in OOC. Pretty much most of the people forgave me. Yet, I remember that I said "Meh" on the Discord Staff Chat. Yes. I know how bad it looks. In fact, I was already told about this a long ago.

You say you want to return to being a good example, but how are you going to do that?
Frankly, I don't care for your example.

I gave you my wanting to return to being a good example by posting a good example of my well-being as antagonist on Arrow's server, and you shot it down. Play on someone's server and display my chance of being antagonist like I did on Arrow's server? Give opportunities to antagonist's course of actions as always? We don't see much of each other on Aurora Station. Well? What do you want me to do?

Do you earnestly even care about the antag rules after this event?

If I wouldn't care, then I wouldn't be applying for the appeal and sucking it up with the antagonist ban for the rest of the summer, in fact. I encourage many people to being antagonist. Since, you're getting on the discussion of me being a staff member being a hindrance to the antagonist. Get this, if I didn't care about the server rules, I would have been denied a chance to being a trial moderator and becoming CCIA, permanent ban would have been inevitable afterwards.

Overall Response to Tish's Critic:

Bombing the Departures was never in my plan, one after one. There were obstacles in my way, gunning at me. I remember this clearly, they were stalling time. There's a thing called Adrenaline Rush which happens to some people. Why did I start running for Departures? To retrieve the Nuclear Disk. But, bombing the departures in my head must have thought that it was my only chance of stopping the Captain boarding the shuttle.

Believe me, if I had the ability to time travel back to the past, or reverse the actions. I would have fixed the issue here. You know how insistent I am being to having you check this unban request? Attempted to bump the request. Reminded twice over the Discord.

Be smart next time. You had all the time from the bridge to the escape shuttle to stop and think "Wait, this is a *bad* idea because I'm about to break a ton of rules if I do this." That's a good amount of time to reconsider. The adrenaline rush excuse will only get you so far.

Get this, you went completely off the rails here on how you interpreted my words. I never said you being a staff member was bad for an antagonist. I said that you are held to a higher standard. Be smart, stop, and analyze. I'd hate for events to repeat.

Aside from these glaring remarks, everything you said is exactly what I wanted to hear. Excellent job. I'm aware my tone was rather aggressive, but I felt it's because I needed to push you for you to shove and show me why. I wasn't impressed at all with your opening post to the appeal, and even though that angered me, I knew you must've had a better reason other than the "well, water under the bridge" excuse and some crappy inspirational quote. I'll gladly lift your ban now. Appeal approved.
