Antag contest, rant.

When people think that the costest is fully ic. "id do anti synth cause I like racism rp and shit but my chars are pro synth. Shame" Or when people were voting for equality-liking parties during the elections because of their characters. Damn, sons. Elections were strictly ooc. You got a vote per player not per character. If you like playing characters rebelling against racism and corporations "using" their xeno employees, you don't vote for equality and fairness, but for more interesting racism and shit rp.

Same with the antag contest. Just tell my why you want pro synths to win. For boring hugbox role play of "psychological" talks? Or because you want your cringe cat robots to snuggle each other in peace? Or to play broken gimmicky hop ipcs or sheriff robots?Or to play broken gimmicky hop ipcs? Or any other shitty ipcs that would never be hired and belong in a museum?

And let me tell you. The fucking IPC tags generated much, much more roleplay in their month or so of existing than the pro-synth winning will ever generate.

Because, regardless of the antag contest, there was a planned rebellion of sorts, orchestrated by both IPCs and organics, and was planned to be carried out by both IPCs and organics. The only thing that stopped it was the transfer to new code and the loss of the tags. This antag contest brings that back, and now with actual consequences for both sides. Oh, but now that they can "win" and "lose" officially, it's not okay and we're becoming a hugbox? It's not okay because now there's a real chance that the status quo will change? Are you really that convinced that nothing good will come of it, at all?

I don't understand. The two sides are completely evenly split in the poll on the forum. 19 votes on either side at my last count. I was worried one side would have an overwhelming advantage, but it's evenly split. This community also voted in a center-right and far right political coalition for the sol alliance. I believe we've fostered a community far from a hugbox.

As well, people are entitled to want to have a position different from yours. I'm not sure why you are so angry that people are pro-synthetic rights. It'd be very boring otherwise.

Do you want us to cancel the contest, Dreamix?

Dreamix made a convincing argument for me to join the anti-synth side, but I think the whole fun in is is that there is contention in the first place. If everyone was just straight-up anti-synth OOCly, then it'd just be as boring as if everyone was pro-synth. The antag contest brings a chance for the community to have self-determination in the lore, and to bring the issues of the universe to the forefront of peoples minds to encourage them to discuss and debate. I don't think Dreamix was saying "the contest is bad and you should feel bad" (though maybe he was, he seemed displeased) but I took it as more of a persuasive treatise on why siding with anti-synth factions could lead to more interesting story. I think his biggest bone to pick here is people choosing what faction to go for based on what their characters ICly would want rather than what they as a player might OOCly want, but this could be a miscalculation or non-issue since some people conflate the two and OOCly want what would be enjoyable to their IC characters.

That is why it's our job to win the antag contest and put those dirty synths in their place >:)

Synths are more determined to fight because they have more to lose. Ergo, it makes sense that the Synth side would have more players because odds are already stacked against them.

I for one would like Synths to win because I find it cuddly and it makes my idealist neurons tingle. So what? What's wrong with that? Is literally every fictional universe graded by how close to WH40k it is because it's so fucking original and great? As for RP, I disagree. The most interesting synth RP I've had was back when IPCs and 'borgs' were allowed to have an actual fucking personality, not the rare sporadic technophobe babble.

Also, view the IC vote thing as an actual OOC vote. Workers on Aurora are farely representative of the overall population and if the majority are in for it, then by extension, the demographics should more or less correlate with their opinions. The violent technophobes that keep destroying IPCs should be the fringe of society.
