Jboy2000000 Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 BYOND Key: Jboy2000000 Character name: Poslan Kur'yer-Isra Item name: Twin Suns Throw-over. Why is your character carrying said item to work? It's a throw-over jacket worn by some members of the Twin Suns, of which he is a practitioner and Brother. Item function(s): A jacket Item description: A light black jacket, on one side of it;s breast is the design of a yellow sun, and on the other side is a smaller, blue sun. Item appearance: Basically a modified chaplain hoodie. How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? He will wear it while he is filling the chaplain/counselor role on the station, signifying him as a member and teacher of the faith even outside of the chapel. Item name: Pressing of Messa's Tears Why is your character carrying said item to work? It's a pressing of one of the Goddess Plants, usually displayed in holy sites and churches, Item function(s): A display piece for the chapel. Item description: "As Messa looked at the pain and death wrought on the world she had given life, she cried, and from her tears sprouted these leaves." Item appearance: A clipping of Messa's Tears pressed between two small glass plates. How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? They're going to be displayed in the chapel, and used as demonstration to bring up the subject of Messa's worship. Item name: Pressing of S'Rendarr's Hand Why is your character carrying said item to work? It's a pressing of one of the Goddess Plants, usually displayed in holy sites and churches, Item function(s): A display piece for the chapel. Item description: "As S'Rendarr watched her sister cry, she felt rage never known to her before. Her fists clashed with those who upset her sister, and from their blood came these." Item appearance: A clipping of S'Renddar's Hand pressed between two small glass plates. How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? They're going to be displayed in the chapel, and used as demonstration to bring up the subject of S'Rendarr's worship. Additional comments: Ive made most of this up myself, along with most of the stuff myself with the lack of other explanation, so if the lore itself is a problem, I would be fine withdrawing this.
VileFault Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Sounds cool, though maybe a bit tricky to sprite based on what you have given. One point, however, about this: As Messa looked at the pain and death wrought on the world she had given life, she cried, and from her tears sprouted these leaves. Descriptions like this are super poetic and cool, but they really wouldn't be readily apparent to anyone who quickly examines them. Consider instead making your descriptions tell people the physical characteristics of the item like: An ivory leaf with spiraling gold veins, pressed between two perfectly clear sheets of glass and bordered by an ornate metal frame. Obviously this is only what came to mind when I read this, I have no idea how you actually want these to look. But regardless, I think you get the idea. Then, if someone asks Poslan about them, he can explain the significance with his religious metaphor and you get to say the poetic stuff. Additionally, your "Pressing of S'Rendarr's Hand" and "Pressing of Messa's Tears" seem to serve very similar purposes. Since they will be tricky to add, and don't have attached models, it might be better to only ask for one for the moment. If you find that that works well, and helps start conversation, then maybe you can request the second one? I just worry that asking for too much all at once might encourage people to deny them all together. Nonetheless, I support Chaplains getting more tools - their ways of standing out as a member of one faith or another are pretty limited for a job that is so dependant on unique RP.
Jboy2000000 Posted September 23, 2016 Author Posted September 23, 2016 I did consider to only one of the pressings, but the premise of the religious lore Ive made up baring anything official is that it's important to worship S'Rendarr and Messa equally, to strike a balance and peice in life and death. I suppose if having two is one too many, they could be just be wiped away from this and just leave the throw-over jacket.
VileFault Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) You could do that - but it also isn't unreasonable to suppose that you could only get your hand on one of these artifacts, which are presumably pretty rare and precious. You can happen to have one and not the other, while maintaining that both deities must be held in equal regard. Frankly, the relics seem way more interesting and important than some jacket, though that is a fine aesthetic touch. Not to rain on your parade or anything, but the "duality of life and death" shtick is a tad overdone. If it were me, I would want the deities to have a more complex relationship that just that. EDIT: Fair enough, I shouldn't assume. Edited September 24, 2016 by Guest
Jboy2000000 Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 It is a bit more complex than that, I like to think at least, but this isn't the place for that conversation.
TishinaStalker Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Application accepted. I don't normally have a problem with chaplain custom items.
Alberyk Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Items done and added to the code, you should be able to spawn with it now.
