Eternias Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I guess i'll just get straight to the asking. 1. Is the people's republic of Adhomai the only NT recognized government of the Tajara? The wiki seems to imply such. 2. Seeing as Tajara have shorter lifespans compared to humans, (1.3x according to Susan in a previous question post. ) would the age requirements for hire and job advancement change, or stay the same? (Not counting years of experience, as those are clearly listed.) 3. I read in two separate posts that in some instances Tajara can be deported for deviancy, such as homosexuality, but in the other it states that people can still be 'gaycats' on the station. Is it required to hide homosexuality from NT to avoid deportation? (This is also important in case a straight Tajaran character finds out about a gay one.) 4. Would the PRA give citizenship to refugees from other factions, such as the Adhomai liberation army? As an example, a child who ran from them. 5. Do any of the three Tajaran factions use Child Soldiers as part of their military force? 6. (For a lore writer;) If you do not have an answer to one of my questions, would you consider my input on the matter? Thanks for reading and possibly replying my questions. I'm in the process of putting a race whitelist app together, and want to make sure all my bases are covered to make a cohesive and lore-respecting character. Quote
Mofo1995 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I guess i'll just get straight to the asking. 1. Is the people's republic of Adhomai the only NT recognized government of the Tajara? The wiki seems to imply such. Yes, the PRA is the only diplomatically recognized faction on Adhomai. 2. Seeing as Tajara have shorter lifespans compared to humans, (1.3x according to Susan in a previous question post. ) would the age requirements for hire and job advancement change, or stay the same? (Not counting years of experience, as those are clearly listed.) They have the same job requirements as humans in order to take a job. 3. I read in two separate posts that in some instances Tajara can be deported for deviancy, such as homosexuality, but in the other it states that people can still be 'gaycats' on the station. Is it required to hide homosexuality from NT to avoid deportation? (This is also important in case a straight Tajaran character finds out about a gay one.) You can make homosexual characters, so long as it's roleplayed properly. Tajaran society views homosexualality as deviancy, and it is illegal and punishable by deportment to forced labor camps by the People's Republic. Essentially, keep it on the down low, yes keep it hidden. It's supposed to be an oppressed demographic. 4. Would the PRA give citizenship to refugees from other factions, such as the Adhomai liberation army? As an example, a child who ran from them. Officially, the PRA claims to be the government of all Tajarans, including refugees in human space. I think it's safe to say they would. 5. Do any of the three Tajaran factions use Child Soldiers as part of their military force? Good question, I haven't seen this come up ever before, I don't know. I also wanted to add that I think it's neat that you compiled a list of questions to ask before making an application. I can tell you've spent a lot of time sifting through old posts and doing research, and I find it admirable. Quote
Fire and Glory Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Questions answered by Mofo: 1. Q:Is the people's republic of Adhomai the only NT recognized government of the Tajara? The wiki seems to imply such. A: Pretty much, yeah. 2. Q:Seeing as Tajara have shorter lifespans compared to humans, (1.3x according to Susan in a previous question post. ) would the age requirements for hire and job advancement change, or stay the same? A: I'm not sure how long Tajara actually live in comparison to humans, but the requirements are the same, yes, personally I advise against making characters who are only just old enough to work in their job. 3. Q:I read in two separate posts that in some instances Tajara can be deported for deviancy, such as homosexuality, but in the other it states that people can still be 'gaycats' on the station. Is it required to hide homosexuality from NT to avoid deportation? A:Short answer, yes. Long answer, It depends on how open the gay cat is about it, if they ran around talking about how gay they are over the radio or in crowds, they'd get deported, but if they kept it private then they're good. (They're not hiding it from NT specifically, though, how it'd go is Tajaran hears about how another Tajaran is gay, the Tajaran runs home and tells the PRA, the PRA looks into it, then if they find out that the Tajaran is gay, they'll ask NT and NT'll send them back for education, or at least that's how it'd go in-universe.) 4. Q:Would the PRA give citizenship to refugees from other factions, such as the Adhomai liberation army? As an example, a child who ran from them. A:Dunno. 5. Q:Do any of the three Tajaran factions use Child Soldiers as part of their military force? A:Probably the Adhomai Liberation Front (who don't exactly have a large pool of people to choose from for their soldiers), but I don't really know, keep in mind, though, the second revolution (aka the one that's ongoing) started in 2451, that means that the Adhomai Liberation Front and the New Kingdom of Adhomai(?) have only existed in their current, open forms, for 7 or less years, so any child-soldiers wouldn't be old enough to work for NT. The first revolution, however, started in 2421, and given the desperate nature of it, oppressed peasants overthrowing their overlords, I would not be surprised at all if children fought against the noblemen alongside the rebels, although you might not want that since it doesn't concern the PRA or ALA or such. I am not and have never been part of the Lore team, but I am whitelisted for Tajara, take from that what you will. Quote
Eternias Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 Thanks for the replies, i've done a lot of reading to get the lore straight in my head before i wrote my whitelist app. I'd prefer to have a solid character concept fleshed out, and most of the questions were just checking things i already was pretty sure about. In regards to the child soldier thing, a Tajaran of age 10-11 when the second revolution started could be of age currently, having fought 1-7 years with the ALA before (circumstances which lead them to working for NT.). As specified in the wiki, the minimum age for working with NT is 18, (17 for internships/apprenticeships, which i assume also includes things like Security cadets.) P.S; If any readers would like to post their own question-lists in here, that'd be cool. Im sure collaboration and strange 'i wonder what they're like in this respect' could help the lore-writers flesh things out further. (Not like they have lives or anything, right?... Right?!) Quote

Oh right, I'm a dumbass. I way I added up those 7 years was a child starting at 0 and ending up 7 years old. which is completely stupid Anyways, glad to help, I look forward to seeing your application. Quote
