Tomiix Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 BYOND Key: TomiixStarslasher Character Names: Azala Guwan, Daemon Jewitt, Godric Wright Species you are applying to play: Basicframe IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): EXEMPT Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yessir. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: IPC's leave a rather open slate when it comes to character design, since they are designed by humans they are allowed to be quirkier in a sense. Some IPC's are designed for very specific and useful purposes, while at the same time some are designed for simply the amusement of their creators. This freedom in character creation, being quirky without having to be insane, but have it be something that is relatively understandable and accepted, is interesting to me. Also who wouldn't want to be a robot in a futuristic spess game? Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: As I have said earlier, the most important difference between humans and IPC's are that they are designed BY humans FOR humans. Meaning that they don't question their existence, they know it. If a IPC is designed to sing and dance, that is their design and destiny. That was their purpose and if they do it well an IPC can be content. Humans seek destiny, the path not lied before them, but is something that they search for. Certainly if an IPC was forced to do that, to discover it's own destiny or be forced to pave their own path, it would be tortuous to them. They more than likely wouldn't look to far, establish what it's design leads to it being good at, and pick a task for it to do until its completion. Character Name: Sir Ver Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Sir Ver is a famous knight, well renowned around the seven kingdoms as a champion of justice and good. He values his titles, Sir Ver, Guardian Knight, Champion of the People, Hero of the north, savior of the elves, slayer of goblins, Paladin of the god of justice Heironeous. The list goes on and on, and he collects titles like medals of honor, gleefully sharing them with the common folk who inquire, who wish to indulge themselves in the tales of his multiple triumphs. All of his adventures, all of his titles, all of his glory, and most importantly to him, all of his friends are as real to him as the world around us is real to us. However, Sir Ver is not a human knight paragon of justice, he is a basic shell IPC designed by a nerd group of roleplayers. Using him as a player to fill the fourth spot of their campaign for years. Convincing him the things he is doing is real, for their entertainment, since it makes it more realistic. This came crashing down upon the dungeon master learning that he lost his job, and he would need to come up with money quickly. He sold many priceless pieces of his collection. His rarest Witchcraft the Togetherness cards, his life size statue of Grognakor the Barbarian, and his precious IPC design, Sir Ver. The market wasn't very quick to pick up a hobbyist larping robot. So he rebranded Sir Ver as a Bodyguard IPC with a enthusiastic dedication to the P.A.L.A.D.I.N. lawset. This eventually got him sold, and then moved around a lot. As people moved him and resold him constantly, citing him as being annoying and delusional. However, his legitimate skill in sword fighting and hand to hand combat cannot be ignored, which still gave him value. This has eventually lead to him being purchased by Nanotrasen in a bulk clearance sale, and assigned the Aurora as a service IPC. This however wasn't a life suitable for Sir Ver, and he insisted that his skill demanded some sort of position that helped the station. He eventually was given a cadet trial run as a Security Officer on a smaller station. After dutiful service and proving himself capable, he achieved the position of security officer. He views himself as a great hero in retirement as a town guardsman, defending the common folk and the law of the station 'village'. He still doesn't think much about being an IPC or his being exchanged, viewing it as him adventuring. He is actually quite phobic around technology, and constantly acts culture shocked whenever he sees a new strange feat of technology. Chocking it up to magic or some kind of miracle of artifice. What do you like about this character? Are you kidding? A robot that is constantly acting like a knight is a really cool concept. This can lead to so many cool interactions! He views himself as human in every way, and quite above most humans. His mind constantly gives him convenient explanation for his subservience. Like the people buying him and selling him are lords contracting him for his skill. I feel like I can deliver a fun interactive experience with the crewman aboard the aurora. He has a whimsical and outgoing personality, is quirky, however his quirkiness and dedication to the cause can prove to be a boon to the station's safety. He is a robot man out of time, and is a faulty time capsule of a simpler era. People wont get him, people will be intrigued by him, he serves the double purpose of entertaining the crew and protecting them. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I think I am very competent at role-playing. Having done it for multiple years now over multiple platforms, IRC, Forums, over video games and dungeons and dragons, the obvious inspiration for this character. I feel like I only have good interactions with the Aurora community as a whole. Notes:
