Susan Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Ana Issek, formerly Ana Ka'Rimah Theme: The storms become especially bad mid-Summer in Lowell City, Mars. Harsh winds blow rust-red sands around in a furious frenzy, driving all but the most brave to seek the shelter of the city buildings. One such individual stood before the entrance to a basement tattoo parlor. The blazing neon sign could barely be seen through the howling gale, the buzzing droned out by the sound of wind. Sometimes it felt as if Mars was trying to reclaim the land humanity had taken back. The flaps of his trenchcoat fluttered as he descended the weathered stone steps, only to be met by a heavy oaken door. Three raps were all it took to summon the proprietor of the establishment; a gruff voice spoke through a slotted window, bright blue eyes visible - clear against the darkness within. "Yer late." "I didn't expect the weather to get so bad. Hurry up and open." The rattling of locks soon followed the brief exchange, and the trenchcoated man found himself standing in a smoke-laden room, enveloped by the hushed whispers of suspicious-looking individuals. As his only escape back out to safety swung shut behind him, the man removed his hat and allowed the miniscule grains of sand to drop from his brim, surveying the area before him. Though the sign outside would have passerby believe the now-defunct building had once housed a tattoo parlor, the reality was far more shocking. Amidst the moldering wallpaper and rotting wood panelling was now a makeshift bar and plenty of customers looking to make a bid for information or other precious things. The corners of his well-groomed face curled into a frown - he recognized one or two of these men. His colleagues at the precinct. A homicide detective, and another from Vice. Not surprising in the least. A flash of gold from beneath his unbuttoned trenchcoat told the sad tale of his existence, and the reason for his coming here this evening. A figure out of the corner of his eye caught his attention - could this be his informant? The description matched. Though she had her face partly obscured with a headscarf, her species was unmistakable. Blue fur shone under the dim light of an oil lamp, a flash of gold mirroring his own. Upon the table before her was a badge much like his. His footsteps sounded heavy as he approached, even to him. The suffocating atmosphere of the basement made him feel as if he was being watched; and he was. The eyes of fellow officers, emergency personnel, even politicians all gave him passing glances. It didn't deter him, however. The leather seat creaked beneath him as he slid into place across from the female Tajaran, his expression partly concealed by dark sunglasses. She did not seem too surprised to see him, appearing absorbed in searching through her vidphone. "I got your message." His voice quivered slightly, but he managed to get ahold of himself. He didn't want to return here, but it wasn't as if he had a choice. "What did you want to see me for?" The feline shrugged lightly. Her face was dimly illuminated by the holoscreen of her vidphone, and he could see her grinning a toothy grin. It made him feel uneasy. "Suppose got morrre inforrrmation could use. Might be about unsolved homicide down on East side, by new company lab." Already? She was getting close; while at one point he would be happy to hear this, he was in no position to entertain thoughts of investigating now. All he had to do was get the information and get out. Then it'd all be okay. "Really now? I thought that was all hush-hush. The undersherrif wanted it wrapped up quickly. They seem to think they've got all the evidence they need." Again the female Tajaran shrugged. Setting her vidphone down on the table, she reached into a leather satchel lying by her side to produce a rather thick manila folder bearing the seal of the Sol Union Department of Justice. It was heavy enough to produce a resounding thumb as it hit the table. Across the surface was written 'CONFIDENTIAL' in bold red letters. Hesitantly, the trenchcoated man reached out and lifted the cover, visibly sweating as he did so. Sure enough, the documents he had requested were sitting right there before him. At that moment, it felt as if an enormous weight had been lifted off his shoulders. All he would have to do was take this back to his employers and he wouldn't have to worry anymore. "You know," he paused, a soft chuckle welling up from within him, "I wasn't sure whether you'd actually come through for me this time. I don't know how you do what you do." A metallic clicking sound followed his words. Looking up from the case file, he saw the steel barrel of a gun pointed at him. It was at that moment that, for some inexplicable reason, every detail in that firearm was amplified. The contours of the beautifully-crafted metal, the glint of the steel in the dim light, the way the hammer slowly came down to initiate a blaring crescendo. And just as quickly as he looked up, his head was thrown back as the bullet impacted his torso. Blood flowed forth from the hole in his chest, and he clutched at the wound feebly. In his final moments, a flash of gold was the last thing he saw; the casing clattering to the table, still freshly smoking. As his vision faded, the Tajaran rose up and collected the blood-splattered case file. When his last breath left him, she reached across the table to shut his eyes, still wide with abject terror. "Do what I do because justice needs be serrrved." > LOGIN D. Issek is a veteran officer with almost a decade of service under her belt. After completing a four-year course in a NanoTrasen-funded college and other classes in preparatory school, she was awarded a general certificate that validated her abilities as a scientist and forensic investigator. Her career is a tumultuous one; Issek has shown unpredictable loyalty towards the company. Her arrest record is stellar, but not unblemished. She has performed unauthorized arrests of some NanoTrasen officials as well as other people of debatable import. Losing them is troublesome, but not worth the expenses clearing them all. Due the nature of her actions and her strong convictions, Issek has been assigned to the Aurora and is under watch. Though she is capable and does well to protect corporate interests we are unable to determine at this time whether or not she is leaking information to third parties. We suspect her in a few cases but are unable to confirm. On September 8, 2454, Director of Operations for our Tau Ceti branch of biomedical facilities was arrested by Sol Union law enforcers on charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit fraud. Details of the event under investigation can be found under [DATA EXPUNGED]. Considerable expenses resulted in the eventual release of the Director and we were able to determine that the data procured proving guilt was stolen from one of our databanks within our installation on [REDACTED]. As Issek was serving as security detail that week, she was suspected - along with co-workers - of leaking sensitive evidence to the authorities. While we were able to secure the release of the Director, employees [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] were handed over to face charges in his stead. In total, at least three hundred and seventy-two thousand credits were spent in liaison with Sol Union officials. As of this time we are unable to prove Issek's involvement in this incident. On Februrary 7, 2455, the Captain aboard the NSS Exodus was arrested by Issek for a myriad of charges. At the time, we had delivered a valid directive privately to the Captain and he was instructed to follow it. When he attempted to enforce the directive (which contained instructions for [DATA EXPUNGED]), the crew was initially resistant and proceeded to rally against the directive. By shift end Issek and most of the security team had arrested and detained Head of Security [REDACTED] and Captain [REDACTED] for exceeding official powers, assault, abuse of prisoners, and conspiracy to commit murder. Upon docking with Central Command, Issek disobeyed standard protocol and delivered the suspects directly to Sol Union police via as of yet unknown means. For her actions she was placed on administrative leave but pending internal affairs investigation (where Sol Union proceeded to be annoyingly intrusive) was allowed back under probation and transferred to security detail aboard the NSS Aurora. // INPUT COMMAND >ACCESS_RECORD_MEDICAL // ACCESSING... // COMPLETE Medical Records (Confidential Copy) Physical Evaluations: 2453 - 03 - 01: Pass 2454 - 03 - 07: Pass 2455 - 05 - 25: Pass 2456 - 04 - 14: Pass Psychological Evaluations: 2455 - 09 - 09: Fail 2455 - 12 - 25: N/A Notes: Prescription for antidepressants given to patient 2456 - 03 - 18: Pass 2456 - 06 - 05: Fail Physically speaking, Miss Issek is healthy. She maintains a stable workout regimen consisting of exercises designed to help her stamina and strength. She has provided me with a detailed log of her daily exercise routine as well as her eating habits. That aside, she's seen some fighting in her time. There are a few scars from old gunshot wounds and burns hidden beneath tufts of artificial fur. Clearly she has suffered multiple traumatic and potentially fatal injuries while in the line of duty. Examining her medical records from old installations, I can be sure she has been cloned at least a few times, and her abnormally large co-pay attests to that. However, that said, I can say with full confidence that Miss Issek will live a long and healthy life. Hopefully. We are unaware if she is at risk for any genetic diseases as medical records are difficult to acquire from Tajaran diplomats and she would rather not speak about her parents at all. UPDATE: 07/22/2456 / / After submitting a formal request for medical records to the Tajaran Embassy for Miss Issek and numerous other Tajaran employees, we were finally able to obtain her birth parent's 'paperwork' (if you could even call this paperwork) as well as comments from her physician during her early life. With this information obtained we suspect that Miss Issek might be at risk for a hereditary disease known as Tajaran Infectious Merionitis, and will be undergoing a preliminary physical within the coming months before we undergo blood analysis to test for the disease. Since her last examination, Miss Issek has not notified me of any further physical health issues. Mentally speaking, however, Miss Issek is of questionable health. While she is by no means unstable, she seems to suffer from mild to severe chronic depression. She is not an amiable person at all and has resisted both psychological and therapeutic treatments. One of the core facets of her personality is an unshakeable set of beliefs. From what I have been able to gleam from her, she remains employed by NanoTrasen simply so she can dispense justice as she sees fit, within the bounds of the law of course. While initially cold, Miss Issek seems to have a deep care for many of her co-workers. She has relayed to me on one of the rare occasions where she is talkative that the reason she has so many kills under her belt is to spare other team members the 'burden', as she put it, of carrying that loss of life with them. Undoubtedly cynical, it appears that she is only driven to do what she does for the sake of her lover, her friends, and her morality. I haven't been able to get her to open up to me since, but I firmly believe that her stern and judgmental attitude is only a cover for her inner self. // INPUT COMMAND >ACCESS_RECORD_EMPLOYMENT // ACCESSING... // COMPLETE Employment Records (Confidential Copy) Ana J. Issek was keyed into our systems following her departure from Adhomai at the age of sixteen years old. Subsisting on government welfare, Miss Issek was assigned to a low-class living receptacle within the Tiberius Station slums, a facility constructed within Tajaran space. She enrolled in classes offered to help Tajaran integrate into human society and two years later began a term in a human college and majored in criminal justice. Though her Tajaran education and what little she had learned on Tiberius required to be expanded upon, she graduated with honors after her fourth year of university and acquired her company certification in criminal justice. Her contract was picked up by the company and she was assigned to a mining colony on the outskirts of human space. While serving as a junior forensics tech, she paid out of pocket to expand her repertoire of skills and was eventually also certified in forensic pathology and advanced forensics. After Incident 84-3A (refer to file [DATA EXPUNGED]) aboard the Omega mining colony, Miss Issek was reviewed by a company psychologist and after being judged as mentally unstable was placed on administrative leave for a period of two and a quarter months. Thereafter she returned to her duties but ended up being transferred to the then newly-constructed NSS Exodus on the northern end of Tau Ceti space. While there, served for four years until she was then transferred again to the NSS Aurora, where she remains stationed to this day. While her contract has mostly been employed by the company, Miss Issek has also been acknowledged by the Biesel Board of Pathology and serves as an honorary member following the publication of her book regarding autopsy procedures. Further, she has spent time working with the Minor Case Squad on Mars as well as a handful of cases for Sol Union law enforcement officials. // INPUT COMMAND >MARK_EMPLOYEE_LIABILITY // ERROR: INSUFFICIENT AUTHORITY >MARK_EMPLOYEE_FOR_REVIEW // ERROR: INSUFFICIENT AUTHORITY >MARK_EMPLOYEE_CRAZY_CAT_BITCH // SYNTAX ERROR IN INPUT >FUCKING MACHINE // SYNTAX ERROR IN INPUT >LOG ME OUT YOU PIECE OF SHIT // SYNTAX ERROR IN INPUT >ACCESS_LOGOUT // TERMINATING SESSION // GOODBYE Quote

Guest Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 When Tony arrived to the station, he couldn't stand her always insulting him and other security members. "Stupid, asshole, overly-competant Issek always making us look like jobbers.", he said. But as the time went on he kind of started to respect her. Also contributed to the fact that he wasn't a scub that needed to be yelled at anymore. In Tony's eyes, Issek was an unstopable tidal force of law, often merciless. He learned that not bothering her at all was the best option. Their methods vary and are often polar opposites of each other. Even though he can often be heard grumbling against them, he supports the general principle behind them and follows her orders without question. Some of her views stick on him however, because, if officers couldn't be bothered to do their job properly, they shouldn't be doing it at all. All in all, I never thought I would like a character that seems as powergamey and assholish as Ana Issek, but it seems miracles do happen. Kudos for making a character this awesome. Quote
