Pratepresidenten Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 BUMP! Aiming had a good execution before, but as a bullshit aimbot. To make DatBerry's solution a bit more intuitive, perhaps a 2 or 3 second cooldown between reflex shots with the little dialogue "re-steadies their aim" or something to that effect. Although the ability to toggle reflex shooting would be nice, to get around some of the aiming bullshit. Also this. Giving the autoaim a cooldown period of 3-5 seconds between shots would cripple it sufficiently. The aim mechanic isnt meant to be a free hostage move, but its meant to provide you with an instant wall of text to tell the person getting aimed at that they should consider the situation they're in. Sure you can !emote aiming at someone, but not everyone can type 400 wpm, and it is often missed depending on the circumstances. tl;dr: Give the aim mechanic autoaim a 3-5 second cooldown period between shots without dropping the aim, favouring swapping to manual aim and firing.
Pacmandevil Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 The redo of it I'm working on is not going to have any automatic aiming, or firing at all.
LordBalkara Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Maybe this is a bad idea, but I think one way it could be done is to make it automatically stop aiming at the victim when triggered, but have no cooldown, effectively meaning that you would have to click on them again. So you'd only really hit a person with it if your shot was going to hit them anyway, and it would function basically the same as regular shooting but with more delay between clicking on a person and the shot being taken, depending on your settings. And with the added benefit of a click sound effect, a target sprite appearing on the person, and a message in chat telling them that a gun is pointed at them, but has not been fired yet.
