Butterrobber202
Immersion < Gameplay I don't see how one automatically dismisses the other in this situation Ok, one of the main things about cultist is that the tome is iconless, and they can hide it in their pocket without anyone noticing. The Energy sword is the same way (in its off state). Tbh they are a few others but you get the idea. Some of the advantages of these stealth items is when we stick them in our pockets no one notices. In any case, could you imagine how spammy this will be? Even outside the context of Antags the normal crew will be shuffling things around as well. Link to comment

As for cool traitor items, e-sword is still a small item (which as shown in the cool picture in the original suggestion only shows up as "something" and only to the directly adjacent three tiles). Same goes for most of other useful little traitor items. Tomes are meta-shielded and are ignored most of the time. It's extremely rare they become a real concern for security. If you're still worried about their concealment powers they can be made a small item in regard to concealing. However i don't see why would a sizable book be easy to conceal. Link to comment
BurgerBB
Sounds like I have to leave this thread open for another month while people talk about this potential PR. I've seen mainly two complaints about this so far: Balance and Spam which are honestly one and the same. Spam and distance will be non-existent due to how short the range is when it comes to detecting items, as well as the the fact that a field of view is required to actually notice an item. Literally most traitor items like e-swords and whatnot will not be shown being slid into a pocket unless you are within penis touching range and looking at them. And you know what? This is actually a buff to antagonists, because people will start relying on equipment messages once this PR is implemented to get their item information. In situations where you sneak up behind someone, and pull out an e-sword, they won't notice it until you actually activate the e-sword and slice off your fucking head. Link to comment
