DronzTheWolf Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 The electrical toolbox has some of the essentials for electrical maintenance on the station. Screwdriver Wirecutters T-Ray scanner Crowbar And three coils of wire. Something is missing, though. Something important. Can you guess what? (Engineering mains can.) It's a multitool. The most important electrical maintenance tool on the station. Excluded from an electrical maintenance toolbox. This makes no sense. A multitool is easy to come by. They spawn in general tool storage and Aux tool storage. They can be printed in any autolathe, so why aren't they in the electrical toolboxes?
Kaed Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 There's a certain amount of restricted access to multitools by the public. Because they are a tool that can get you into any location with less chance of potentially harming yourself. You can sometimes find them randomly spawned, but for the most part only engineering can get them or people who have access to a lathe. Electrical tool boxes are actually more common than multitools are. I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad idea, but I feel like there was a reason that there was not a multi-tool put in there, and it has to do with balance.
K0NFL1QT Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 I know multitools have this stigma of being related to easily hacking doors, but you only need a multitool to get through bolted doors. Multitools don't reduce the risk of accidentally activating the shock wire; only insulated gloves protect. Any non-bolted door can be far more easily gotten through with only wirecutters and cutting the ID wire.
