How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Around a year and a half, normally everyday or every other day.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I believe I’ve played long enough to try and apply, can RP well enough to be one, and I’d like to get more job options for any future characters I’d like to make, as well as wanting to grant my already existing characters the chance to be promoted.

Why did you come to Aurora?: Saw it on the hub one day, decided to try it out cause I’ve only played on LRP (/tg/ and Hippie to be exact,) before it, and I’ve kept on playing since then.

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Well yeah, it’d be pretty dumb if I didn't, wouldn’t it?

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:

Roleplay is playing a fictional character in a fictional world (unless you’re playing in a historical or modern setting.) In Aurora, as it’s higher RP, you aren’t just playing, you’re being a realistic character with hopes, goals, fears, etc. Along with that, you’re playing with around 40 - 60 other people, each with multiple characters, so it feels like a living breathing place with everyone’s own little character arcs and friendships and rivalries.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?:

Heads of staff are the backbones of all the departments, as they spend their managing the people in their departments, less than being out on the field doing everything. For example, a Head of Security will coordinate with their men, ordering them what to do, in order to make sure the station runs smoothly, not running around with a carbine in hands arresting people themselves. Along with that, they are to help guide newer players in game.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players are naturally held to a higher standard IC, but OOC they are supposed to contribute to the round, make it enjoyable for the other players, and act more realistically. Along with that, like above, they need to encourage roleplay, whether by going out and talking to people, or by negotiating with Mercs who’ve taken people hostage.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name: Edward Sholl

Character age: 34

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs):

Edward Sholl was born in a poorer region of Sol in Old Earth, to a veteran father and drug-addicted mother, with 2 siblings. Growing up, his 2 brothers joined a local gang, and both died in a shootout when he was 14. Edward saw the effects of gang warfare, which led to him wanting to join law enforcement, an act which his father supported. After his mother’s death in an industrial bread mixer, Edward left his hometown and went to the New Seoul Combat Training Center.

While in it, he became much more pro-human due to his fellow students, and along with that, became a trans-humanist, believing that synthetic life is better than organic, due to their intellect, strength, and rationality. After graduating, he joined NanoTrasen on the NSS Cephus, working there for 10 years before transferring to the NSS Aurora, working as a warden. Shortly after being transferred, Edward’s limbs were replaced with mechanical prosthetics, along with his heart and eyes.

What do you like about this character?:

I like his philosophies, and he’s willing to discuss other viewpoints and respects them, even if he doesn’t agree. He’s more-or-less competent, and is generally loyal to his superiors. He’s pragmatic.

What do you dislike about this character?:

Well, he’s condescending, mostly towards Unathi and Tajara, as he sees them as “primitive,” or “underdeveloped.” He can be a huge prick, is power-hungry, somewhat selfish, and is kinda petty. OOC, his backstory can be developed on, seeing as I’m still actively developing it round-by-round.

What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?:

Sholl is pretty competent, having been interim HoS 2 or 3 times during crises, and is pretty by-the-book. He’s been training to be a HoS as well, asking for advice from his bosses. He is somewhat calmer than some other security personnel, and is pragmatic (which I hope is a good-ish thing for a HoS), I.E. wanting to abandon a hostage instead of returning the bodies of 2 mercenaries. He is generally calm and can lead around averagely. IC, he’s worked for NT ISD for 12 years, so he’s pretty loyal to NanoTrasen.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?:

Really only started RPing on Aurora and Bay. I’m not BAD per say, but I can definitely improve by emoting more and some other stuff. Had some issues with powergaming (I did normally play on /tg/ and Hippie before coming here,) but I’m trying to avoid that. I’d say I can RP a variety of characters, whether stupid, gruff, or semi-charismatic, etc. All in all, I’d say I'm a 6 or 7. I’m still trying to improve it as I continue playing. Haven’t really gotten any real complaints about me, so I must not be that bad.

Extra notes: Kinda apprehensive about making this, cause I’m worried I’m gonna get my shit kicked in. Also, I’m not really expecting to get this accepted, because I normally don't post on the forums and I haven’t played for very long compared to other people, but hey, might as well try and at the very least see what I can improve through the feedback.
