  1. And yes, it took a month of booping admins to get a judgment on the app.
  2. BYOND Key: ClearThoughts Staff BYOND Key: TishinaStalker Reason for complaint: Alright so I made this app a month ago, spouted it in links like i was praising the sun trying to get it bumped or supported, and it just gets denied with four supports and a page of text because "It lacked constructive criticism" Wat. http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6126 There are people that vouch for my roleplay and the app is well-formatted. Why is that not enough to be accepted?? Tishina formerly posted on that app that it "Needed more support", so I begged for some support but lo and behold, people on the server want to play 2d spessmen and not trawl forums giving +1s. Evidence/logs/etc: http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6126 Additional remarks: An application, and those who support it, are two different things. I made an application because i wanted to get the head whitelist, not because the community did or did not support me, but because I made an application. You can't simply turn it into a contest of "who gets the more thumbs ups" because then the likable out-goers of the community have a clear, decisive advantage over people who are shy, but are forthright good roleplayers. Not to say I fall into either of those categories as that would be "Tooting thine horn", but the thumbs-up situation that applications have fallen into is a bad currency system. It's unreliable, and my application being denied for, basically, "Lack of thumbs-ups", is very disappointing and I feel mistreated because of it.
  3. Yeah as if I haven't been bumping this and posting all over the server when i'm on. Is it really THAT difficult to just approve a "Okay you aren't a griefer and actually want to HRP on our server" app? I've been waiting weeks.
  4. I love sneks, and I dont think that is snekky enough.
  5. Its all fine and dandy that they get lasers and shields. That's cool because its gives them a threat level. What's impossible about them is that they sit in your face at melee range, and you cant get a shot off because they're too damn close for the guns to fire. Make combat drones stay like, 1-2 spaces away from you and shoot at you rather than flying into your face at maximum velocity.
  6. BYOND key: ClearThoughts Character names: Heidi McCullen , James Beckett How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Couple years in stints. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: It'd be nice to be able to play my characters as heads rather than regulars. I know that on Aurora we have a lack of heads because of the whitelist. Not that its a bad thing, but I think it'd be nice to be able to field a CMO or a HoP every now and again. Why did you come to Aurora?: Heavy Roleplay. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yep. Been playing SS13 for a few years, I know what every job does. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplaying is telling the story. Building the anticipation of something big or small however the players deem it. You could, with good roleplay, turn a simple cult round into something big like a revolution of religious orders, or even using the cult magic as a scientific tool (Did it once. Lots of fun.). Roleplaying can be bypassed, of course, but that isn't nearly as much fun. The best sort of roleplay is the kind that makes you pause for a moment and reflect on what the person did. That is, something that really makes the character pop, that makes you like, love, hate, or envy that character. The more alive and fleshed out you can make a character seem, the better the roleplay. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Varies from job to job, but there's one thing that separates a CMO/HoS/HoP/CE from their section employees, and that is Politics. The Command Staff have a certain responsibility above the rest of the herd. They have to make sure things are well-oiled and that everybody is working well and working their best. A bad command staff member might just be the object of a revolution, but any command staff member has an effect on the synergy of those underneath them. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Hrk. Responsibilities, noooo! Kidding. Any whitelist, regardless of task, is a responsibility in itself. Not only are you upholding your own reputation, but the reputation of others as well. On the Warhammer 40k server, I'm the whitelist leader for one of the factions we have aboard the station, and it's quite a hassle when one of your whitelisted members has done something wrong. It really smears the name of the whole group when things go belly-up. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: James Beckett Character age: 46 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Short .. Right. I've had this character for about 3 years, so let me get a cut-out: "Well..What do you want to know?...Ah. All of it. Right. Well,my mother was a stay-home wife, taking care of my brother and I. My brother died of a strong blizzard, catching some illness from it that we like to call Frost Fever. Eh? Oh. It's your body's hypothalamus reacting too violently to your atmosphere. Kills you with internal heat. My father was a worker in the fabricators. Kept them running. Produced mining equipment for a nearby asteroid field. Steady work, as i'm told. When my brother died, my mother became depressed and took to drugs and stimulants to keep her going. My father didn't know about this until she attempted suicide. When he found out, he begged her to stop. She divorced him, wrongfully blaming him for my brother's death. *Sighing* I don't feel right talking about that. Sorry....Subject change? Right. Later in life I took up a job repairing ships. Old junks and barges that barely had a reason to float in space anymore, but I fixed them as well as i could. Learned quite a few tricks there, but nothing to make a career out of. Pretty much used the job to get my schooling paid off..Partying? Are you kidding me? I tried it once. Once. Some dipstick Tajaraness slipped me a chem and i lost sight for a few days. All I know? I remember the feeling of blood on her fur. That's about it. Are we done? No? Dang. Fine. After I got down with schooling, I'd guess that's the point in my life where I decided i'd had enough. Drugs are bad. They really are. They don't 'bring out the spiritual side'. They're a way for people to gain control over other people, no matter how you look at it. Fought my way through application after application and found myself enlisted in a few agencies targeting drug-dealers and users. I think the stars are better places because of it." He volunteered for ERT and stayed with them until the age cutout, returning to his career as a Security Personnel aboard various NT stations, eventually landing here, at Aurora. He still holds great respect and a high standard for ERT operators. Whenever they are called, he knows that they are there for a certain job, and he will help them however possible to make sure that the crew and the operators are both secured and safe. What do you like about this character?: He's lost his friends. He's a bit old for joining up anything, and he's got a certain uptightedness to him that makes him a bunch of fun to play. Sure, in a dire situation he's really good, but my favorite part about him is how he reacts to the more sociable extroverts around him. One time, someone had given him a nickname "Frosty" (Like the snowman) because of his cryogenic allergy, and he very much disliked the nickname. Still, in the end he started to use it as his callsign whenever there was one needed, even engraving it into his ERT armor. What do you dislike about this character?: Security is hard to play. Not in the job, but in the sociableness of it all. You're either a hardass or a lardass. Never in between. Someone is always going to hate you. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Always played him as a veteran. Not in the Mary Sue way, but in that he's had it trying to be the good guy in every situation. His age and experience has granted him the smarts to play politics in the upper echelon, but he can't damn well stand sitting around at a desk. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 9/10. People say I can be really silly when i create characters like "Piano Wire, the Poetic Pianist IPC", but I can also create tearjerkers like "Aliyah Baer, the Doctor with a heart and a pacemaker". It all comes down to how you fleshed your character out, and how they meld into the current setting. No use making a hardcore military specialist if he's just a botanist. I'm very aware of the levels of Mary-Sue in my characters, and i'm always striving for input. Extra notes: My fiancee draws SS13 stuff among other things, and she drew up J.Beckett in his armor. I thought it was cool enough to share.
