I've played with Ripley only once, but I had fun doing so. Her character appears to be somebody well-thought-out and interesting, without being 'too much', and I believe this item would make her condition more visible and eye-catching, with a physical item and maybe custom use code. For what it's worth, it's got my +1.

If possible, name the red packet 'RougeCo.', unless that's actually a thing. Could always go for 'Robust Inc.' for the brown packet.

Additional cigarette brands. Some characters prefer one brand, while another has a different favorite. Adds some variety to the only one (Besides the currently limited dromedarycos) brand of cigarettes. While not much, the cigarettes could be given a minute amount of story, one brand from a certain place, being premium, ect. Mostly to add more colour and add some difference, "I smoke.", and "I prefer RougeCo. cigarettes, as opposed to the weak taste of the generic Olympics sponsoring brand." Feel free to tear apart Kane DeWitt.

Honestly, I don't think 'snowflake' characters abusing high-alcohol tolerance is a huge deal, and with the bottle smashing, in real life, somebody breaks a bottle of booze over your head, you're not getting hammered, you're getting knocked out, or perhaps worse. I think changing the prefix and removing the terrible filter that turns what could be some good roleplay into a gibbering mess would be a good idea, even if the blackout/blur isn't changed.

Could you post a link for the code base, if allowed?
-
That's exactly what I had meant it to be, so I'm perfectly happy with that. You can expect I will do my best to comply with the rules for it. Edit: If you're using the holobadge base code, it'd probably be better to remove the "I AM THE LAW" bit, to help further distance this from security. Not that I'm asking you to, but if it's thought it may help, I'm okay with it.

Currently, a single sip of alcohol can make a character sputter and slur their speech, which is not only weird should you want to have a casual drink, I find it also detracts from roleplay, trying to decode the messy stutters around the bar, from those who aren't drinking to drunk. It's awkward and annoying to not be able to control your character, too, after a small amount. Also, as a small, unrelated thing: Rename some of the alcohol? Some of the names are odd, or just unserious. Would it be too much to ask for real liquor names?

BYOND Key:Joe Kane Character name:Kane DeWitt Item name:Detective's Badge Why is your character carrying said item to work? Kane is a detective, both on and off the Aurora. He recently started his own company, and felt the need to commission the badge (possibly others for his coworkers) as a sort of commemorative memento, and a utility item. Nothing quite says professional like a badge, and it's proof of his identity for times when he's not in the role of detective on the Aurora, but still may need to fulfill something of a role of trust, letting people know both that he is a detective, and that he is able to be trusted. Item function(s):Same as a holobadge(except Kane's name is always the registered name, and it says DeWitt Detective Agency, instead of NT Internal Security), able to be contained in a wallet, on the belt slot, and clipped onto a uniform. Item description:A shiny brass detective's badge, backed by brown leather. Inscribed on the front is 'Kane DeWitt, DeWitt Detective Agency'. Item appearance:A brass badge on a brown leather backing. Art done by me, I've got all assets ready. Also, as another note about the detective's revolver- (I'm not certain, but I think I can recall.) A certain portion of the code in the detective's revolver has a chance for the revolver to explode in your hand when fired, if loaded with .357 rounds.

Kane DeWitt - 'Secretly' heart-broken detective, always wearing a scowl.

What it says on the tin, nothing big. Just to add some variety, and class to the janitor's position.

I was thinking that it'd work like ties, so it could be attached to a jumpsuit in a more sensible way, though having it fit on the neck slot as well would be nice. Also, I'm glad Kane is able to help with other people's roleplay :3

I think it's best to leave the basic job equipment in the respective offices and keep the CSI/Forensic Tech and Detective as separate positions. If the CSI were really to need a weapon, it could be implemented or just distributed by the Warden(With a permit?). I like having to ask the CSI to let me into their lab, and it makes sense they wouldn't want some detective stinking up their lab and evidence with the stench of tobacco/stealing the forensics kit, and the detective certainly doesn't want to lose their nifty revolver to some lame techie.

BYOND Key:Joe Kane Character name:Kane DeWitt Item name:Chained Wedding Ring Why is your character carrying said item to work? This wedding ring was the one Kane bought for his deceased wife, and he felt it natural to hold onto it, as a physical reminder of her. Item function(s):Just a fluff item, with the ability to attach to a jumpsuit? Probably a tiny item? Item description:A gold wedding band, hanging from a steel chain, with the words inscribed, "Forever and Always, Lucia & Kane". Item appearance:A simple gold wedding band on a plain steel bead chain. Additional comments:I don't have any icons for this one, but I was thinking exactly what the description says, if anyone'd like to icon that. Simple gold band, on a plain steel bead chain, like those ones military dog tags come on.

I know some servers and code variations have an option to set exploitable information on your character under 'Antag options', and I was thinking that maybe a traitor could purchase either a 'data-terminal' item, or permissions to access a sort of information database, something similar to the medical/security records, and then be able to read the useful information regarding the characters who have info filled out. A way to balance this could be attaching garbage data, limiting access to certain positions or number of uses.

Combat boots is probably a no-go, considering an item in the code named Combat boots already exist, though, I'm not sure how often they're used.
-
Security standard issue footwear- The jackboot. I wasn't around when whoever made up that name, probably a good while ago, it's my opinion that it helps with the 'tyrant security' thing, and could easily be fixed with a small change to the code. While some may be into it the whole 'boot stamping on a human face forever' deal, it really doesn't seem like it'd help with PR, even a few hundred years in the future, and jackboots don't appear like they'd be the best boots for security duty on a space station, besides intimidation - I've never worn any, so I can't say, but they don't seem like they'd be all too comfortable, either. Maybe have parade boots/dress shoes as alternative?

Wallets, as far as I know, are only capable of holding items like dice, coins, ID's, and change cards. While they're better than just an ID, I think it'd be pretty useful if they could hold holobadges, and maybe some other small objects. It'd be cool to see any other suggestions for wallets, too.

After reading the_furry's security reports for their character, and reading a post by TishinaStalker, I thought, "Wouldn't it make sense if the investigations team could check the airlock's access controller unit, and check to see whose ID had accessed it, and check probably a time stamp?", after they had mentioned that Nanotrasen would probably do it themselves. It may be difficult to implement, cause lag, or just end up not being fun, its just a suggestion, and one that could be used for framing others. Also, some kind of electrical skill, or a device to interface with the airlock may be useful, instead of making the airlock itself the object actually reading out the data.

I meant, the option to have the ID title changed from assistant, to something more specific and appropriate. Musician was just an example, another could be 'Bouncer', 'Magician', (While these two titles aren't particularly great examples, I'm sure if this were implemented, it could be used in many fun and interesting ways.) or another title. It's just for characters with role play-centric jobs in mind, who don't want to have to bother the HoP, or have their request denied because the HoP doesn't like their proposal. It'd be especially useful for characters who aren't just gimmicks, but their custom title is part of the character themself.

General server complaint regarding revolution rounds
Kane replied to Cassie's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
I got to, like, page three, and it just seems like an attack on the server. You can't have everyone have a perfect round every round. Things always go to hell. If you really don't like how it's run here, nobody is forcing you to play. I'm not staff, or an admin, I'm just giving you my piece. *Disclaimer: This is my, and only my opinion. Don't bitch at me.* Love, Kane -
Would adding in a security belt to the map and modifying the list of items it can hold be a decent alternative? Still a security belt, no need to code a new special item just for one job, and no new sprites - Just maybe change the name var to distinguish it from the other sec belts.

The option to choose between the default title of 'Assistant', and another, custom title. It would prevent wasting time at the Head of Personnel's office, and makes more sense roleplay-wise. For example, a dedicated musician character on contract to provide entertainment on the Aurora would probably have their own title, on their ID. It doesn't make sense to require this person, having a specific role on the station, to annoy the Head of Personnel with requests and papers so that they can be properly ID'd. It does have potential for abuse, but adding a note to the rules on character creation(or a reference to the 'Don't be a dick' rule, or 'Use common sense') would serve as a warning for those who would want to abuse the function, and the moderation staff would probably hear about anyone with an ID saying 'Prostitute', or any other such title that wouldn't be given out by Nanotrasen. This could also extend to the departmental assistant positions, an example being a structural safety inspector for engineering, or a test subject for research/medical. Pros: -Can enhance roleplay, save on wasting a Head of Personnel's time. -A character has more identity, and doesn't need to worry about being denied because the Head of Personnel doesn't like the title/idea, even though this position may be the character's entire point of being on the Aurora, or the lack of a head of staff able to change your character's ID. Cons: -Definitely abuse-able, but again, the staff and a warning could easily fix this.

Keeping a malfunct murder weapon would only put the murderer at a disadvantage, and would like end with it becoming standard for the murderer to massdrive it away, or destroy it in another similar manner.
