(This suggestion would be more useful should the detective be given access to both rubber and metal rounds.) -Adding a verb to instantly remove all cartridges from a revolver would allow the user to instantly unload the firearm, both making switching ammo types easier and quicker, (And realistic, revolver has an ejector rod, right?) and less of a pain for anyone wanting to remove the entire cylinder's contents. Also, using a speedloader on a loaded revolver to transfer the rounds over to the speedloader, instead of letting all of your precious bullets fall to the floor. -The ability to replace cartridges on a speedloader. As it is now, spent shell casings take up a lot of inventory space, and should you have a spare round for some reason, it becomes an annoyance to store properly. It can't be lathed, it's wasteful, and probably a bad idea to mass-drive a loaded round into space, and you can't stick it back on your speedloader.

I think giving the detective access to rubber and lethal rounds would be useful, the revolver still keeps it's position as one of the few ballistic weapons on station, but with the potential to be used less dangerously, and more so in game-play. It's somewhat dangerous for the detective themselves to use, should their superiors deem it's use unacceptable, they can land themselves brig time, a demotion, and/or have their trusty sidearm confiscated. With the option to use rubber rounds, the target gets a nasty bruise at worse, maybe a shattered bone, or two, but nothing nearly as severe as metal fragments embedded in their skin, or death. Needless to say, I'm a fan of keeping the revolver, and presenting the option for the detective to use either lethal or rubber rounds.

Poisonous Lipstick, just what it says in the title. All of that (E)RP traitor potential, and more subtle way to kill your mark, and in a classier fashion than shooting them in the face point-blank, or sleepy-penning them and throwing them out an airlock. How this would work, I have some unrefined ideas: Either using the mouth selector with the lipstick applied, or possibly a special Kiss verb. For balance reasons, and utility, having a slow-acting, low-detection poison that paralyzes the target may be best, (especially for the Detectives who are syndicate savvy, and want to hit on that dame from medbay) it creates a special tension, with unique roleplay potential.

I think a wall locker, with a medical theme, already exists in the code and could be easily implemented/modified.

I'm 16. I live in Canada. I was once a silver-star army cadet, ranked as a sergeant before dropping out. As some of you may know, or have guessed, Kane isn't my legal name, though the one I identify with, and plan on legally changing my name to. I'm pretty depressing to talk to, apparently, and have an issue holding a conversation, face to face, though I try to be polite. If I wore glasses, they'd probably be jade coloured. I get attached to things and people quite easily, and have a hard time letting go. I'm pretty sensitive to criticism, though I want to get better. I apparently look like hell. I'm not very good with people- as in, Aurora is my only source of meaningful human interaction, but I'm working on it. I like to hear people's problems. I don't like talking when I'm sober. It's pretty hard to make me angry. I'm in highschool, and not doing great. My existence to my peers is pretty much as a conversation topic; I've overheard some of them speaking about my space station 13 exploits. I'm a pervert.

I found some icons, they're for a hardsuit, but I thought they may make a decent placeholder for the exosuit. Here are the mob assets: http://gyazo.com/b1defcd7fcb58653c42c6d80f1787c0f

In with the wrist/hand-slot mounted weapons theme-energy shields and energy swords for the syndicate hardsuits.

Could just keep the standard setup, but remove the internal battery from most, if not all weapons, and give them a standardized (or not) magazine, possibly with higher-grade variants, and have the rechargers to re-power the depleted energy magazines. This may or may not have already been suggested.

A moment of more static passes, the video seemingly frozen, before resuming, as Kane takes a swig from a bottle of cheap whisky. He stares at the camera, a hostile expression forming as he sets the bottle down next to the collection of emptied ones, as the feed abruptly ends, a black screen bearing the text 'No Connection' in a bold red font appears, the audio silent.
-
The screen seemed to shake, as Kane adjusted the terminal, scowling. "The least you could do is show your face before you berate me. Though, since you seem such a tolerant person, I'll fill you in. Take a good look- Does this look like the home of a billionaire? I'm, as the classy like to put it, 'rather piss-poor'. As for my attire, it's just a shirt and tie. Nothing too odd about that, hmm? And my hair is just naturally a damn mess, combs and brushes are useless. Tunic. What the hell is a tunic? Professional, that may be a fair argument. I may not be the most professional at what I do, but I give a damn, which is more than you can say from some people. There's my piece, and you can take it to heart." Kane's scowl lightens as he finishes, before he blows a kiss to the camera.
-
After a brief period of heavy static, you see an unshaven young man, his features exaggerated by a bright light in front of his face, sitting at a worn wooden desk. He is wearing a wrinkled button-up shirt, with a tie hanging loosely around the collar. In the background you see a small room, unlit, with dingy wallpaper peeling from the walls and an old mattress supported by an aged steel frame, next to a similarly beaten dresser. Resting on the desktop sits several empty bottles of whisky, and two thoroughly-dusted shot glasses, next to a snub-nosed revolver. He scowls at the screen, and mutters, "I'm Kane. Freelance detective, currently employed by Nanotrasen on the Aurora. Shoot."

[Denied] Kane DeWitt - Worn Leather Jacket/Outlands Jacket
Kane replied to Kane's topic in Denied Apps
I've got all the assets for it completed, and am awaiting a pass, or denial, from the authority on this. If there is anything I've failed to clarify, or any issues that need 'ironing-out', I'd be happy to hear them. -
Bringing the biology/critter-creation thing back up, I think Bay code has implemented Xenoflora, and improved Xenobiology, by allowing the revival of fossilized remains recovered by the xenoarch. Maybe the geneticist's work could be tied into the recreation of these specimens? (Possibly isolating relevent genetic data from fossil remains, or choosing appropriate substitutes to fill holes in the gap in the preserved genetic code?)

I'm pretty sure several modkits already exist for mechs, in the form of custom items, but being able to customize a mech in-round would be pretty cool.

Jumping on grenades, whether just by resting on it, or as it's own special verb, to shield those around yourself from the blast, though this could be ineffective when used against grenades with a smoke-based load. Maybe RNG could determine the effectiveness of the coverage? At this point, it's just a vague concept, and input from others would be nice.

It's also quite embarrassing to have a supposedly gun-savvy character be unable to hit a target less than five tiles away, due to bad luck.

I feel that if I removed the jacket's casing and teeth, and didn't add anything in place of them, the jacket would lose the feel it was supposed to give off, a sort of 'crude survivor' image, and instead become an aesthetic-only item. Would the addition of more armoring hurt? I'm open to suggestions, so feel free to state your piece. -

I don't really have an issue removing the teeth, or casings, if that would make the item more believable. I'll change the description and edit my first post when I can. Thank you all for your feedback. -

I live up in Canada, so I don't need to worry about being arrested because I'm wearing bullets where I'm at. Also, I understand that NanoTrasen wouldn't want to ruin it's reputation, I could see the diversity side of it, NanoTrasen is employing a wide variety of people, and assistants, bartenders, and even detectives don't seem like positions that would require much out-of-company attention. -

Though I don't know the conditions where you live, (I assume something like this wouldn't be allowed) where I live, you can wear a bullet belt to school, or hanging from a chain. If you're ever asked, you just need to say the rounds aren't, and never were, active. In the distant future, I imagine people would be somewhat more open with things such as this, and due to Kane's 'lower-position', they would just avoid putting him in the public eye, during inspections or something similar. -
For all those amateurs out there-Safeties! It's always embarrassing when you move to pass an officer, captain, or anyone a weapon, and it accidentally discharges because you clicked, or you hand a weapon to somebody, and they repay you with a nice laser to your now-melting face. It's also pretty unwise and probably a huge 'firearms community' faux pas to hand a loaded weapon to somebody while it isn't safe, especially since half of the people Nanotrasen employs are jittery, and insane. In a more serious light, though, safeties would not only increase the safety of guns in-game, it could also prevent ill-usage, such as a detective shooting somebody in the face, as the time it would take to disengage the safety is a few precious seconds to rethink your decision. There really isn't any reason to not manufacture weapons without a safety, and can discourage the untrained from using weapons so easily.

[Denied] Kane DeWitt - Worn Leather Jacket/Outlands Jacket
Kane replied to Kane's topic in Denied Apps
Well, starting with why Kane having the jacket has any reason: Kane has little reason to just start telling people about his past, and the jacket would almost certainly prompt at least some curiosity, and he would be more likely to discuss his past life if he were asked. I don't see Central Command, or any other security force refusing to allow him taking the jacket, either. It does have teeth and shell casings, but while I didn't specify what kind of teeth, I assumed people wouldn't think human teeth. They're animal teeth. The cartridges probably wouldn't be an issue, either, due to their age, poor condition, and expended status. Other than those two things, it's just a dusty old leather cop jacket, so I think it would believable that security would allow the jacket to pass, especially for the two positions Kane ever occupies, the detective slot, and assistant. Kane as an assistant *does* do some things, it used to be part of his routine to modify the nanomeds in medbay, and do other small general maintenance tasks. He also occasionally helps out and does small favors for people, though I will admit, that lately my assistant work has been slipping. I hope this explains everything, and if not, you can always ask again. Thanks for reading. -

+1 My main character is an anti-racist, but I like playing with Vittorio and the diversity he creates. -
Some people might appreciate it if you were to add lipstick to the custom gear list.

You can already do something pretty similar with a spray bottle, welder fuel, and a lighter, though, I think this method also ignites the tile you're one, unless you were to replace the lighter with a remote ignition source. Or just toss the lighter.
