I think they're unbalanced, and cannot be countered by any non-lethal means. Anyone surrounded by walls is untouachable.

Could work by having a variety of coffee available for brewing.
-
I think a more classic coffee machine would fit the setting more. You could put them everywhere and require a pot to be filled with water, maybe? It might work better than the coffee VENDING machines if we could get the cup and do it ourselves. Anyway, I think every office should have one of these. Especially the command lounge, y'know? No more swiping a card just to get a cup of coffee. That's so greedy it hurts, considering how even hospitals give free coffee to their employees.

We need this. I think I was the one who stated it in OOC, before.
-
I usually don't see anything too violent, actually.
-
They would artillery bomb workers on strike? Isn't that murder?
-
And what if the entire station rebels against central? That could definitely be interesting, too.

Having just approached, I stopped by the window to observe. Bajadi Amani, an unathi security officer, came close to me. Then the other officers closed in and stared into my face. I hadn't said or done anything up until this point. Then the unathi clawed me on my arm, and when I didn't react, he tried again. A fight broke out between him and the two other employees, during which he tried to claw me again. I ran away, and, eventually, one of them interrupted the fight to stun them all. That officer was Sullivan Brooks, who began to beat and repeatedly stun Bajadi. After that, I left them alone. A tajaran cadet was there. Her name is Kanza Al'Falak, and she bore witness to the entire incident. She observed, bewildered, and then asked me what had happened when the fighting stopped. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: (Name and rank) No. I was an IAA agent at the time and reported it myself. Additional notes:

Fortport's Tajara Application

Oh, I realized that. I just felt like explaining myself. Sorry that I seemed so defensive. -
I was in an RP rev' round a few days ago. Nisha, as the captain, thought that NT was doing an obvious cash-grab with their pay cuts and demand for more work. They made complaints on performance. What problem are they having with her station and its crew? Their reason wasn't specified. It was shady, and she hated it. She was fine at first, but it wasn't until the demands became increasingly unreasonable that she started to have side-effects from her implant. Cutting the pay didn't seem fair to Nisha because the directors weren't being punished like the crew was. Then the bar, holodeck, and all leisure activities had to be restricted? That makes people not want to work, and it made NT seem even more greedy to Nisha. The straw that broke the camel's back was the final order for constant work and nothing else being allowed. Nisha thought it was insulting, corrupt, and wrong. Thus, the implant punished her with agonizing side-effects. Since Nisha knew it was the implant that was punishing her for her skepticism and that it was trying to control her, that made her resentment, and pain, magnify. It was driving Nisha crazy, and soon she was banging her head on the wall in her office. The CMO and an engineer noticed Nisha's misery from the beginning and grew increasingly concerned. They heard her complaining about the implant, and since the CMO wasn't implanted, himself, he decided that he should surgically remove it from Nisha. The engineer and CMO barged into Nisha's office to force her to go to the medbay, but the loyalty implant didn't want to be cut out. Nisha had a violent outburst and escaped them both, eventually kidnapping the engineer that "trespassed" into her office, "arresting" her. However, Nisha then succumbed to the implant and stunned herself because of the trouble she had caused. The engineer restrained Nisha while she was stunned, and then that engineer moved her to the medbay for surgery. With the implant gone, Nisha could finally speak her mind and allow the crew to do everything that they could before. Nisha even emptied her bank account to help the crewmembers' reduced pay. Okay. Why did I bring this up? Even though this was very fun, I couldn't do something I wanted to from the start. I wanted to be a good captain that doesn't work their crew to death, but also confront the corporate bigwigs. A station-wide roleplayed revolution against Nanotrasen was what I would've sparked. But I had my reigns yanked in by staff, who reminded me that the loyalty implant was there to prevent this from happening and that Nisha was forced to follow her orders. I felt stifled and hated that I couldn't let Nisha be herself. So I forced her to be herself, regardless of the consequences.

You didn't fill in your character names. I realized this when I tried to figure out who you play to come up with a critical response.

Fortport's Tajara Application

Tits. -
"YES, PLEASE, I BEG YOU" #Bringbacksocks&stockings
-
Leggings would look great for people in skirts/dresses/shorts, as it would cover their legs or ankles and make women less exposed. Socks could work for both genders, presuming they're wearing shorts. Could either be attached to jumpsuit or be a part of character creation.

Fortport's Tajara Application

It was my answer to that question in the application. Majith, in my mind, is a very determined individual. She's the type of person who organizes her things and plans everything that she does, even if it's a mundane task. Why, though? Why must she be so meticulous? I think she has a lot of pride in herself, that's my short answer. She's risen above the stereotype that, I think, exists in-character and out-of-character. People often make jabs at the species about how they're primitive or etc. I can perfectly picture humans being xenophobic towards the species. Majith might've been deeply bothered by it, but I haven't found out /why/. Was she harassed? Did people tell her she was never going to get anywhere in life? Is she just that sort of person who strives to do something with herself? I'll sort it out, but that's more or less my thoughts. I want her to be passionate still, even in her thirties. -

Residential space station. Crew consisted mostly of unathi and tajara. Probably a human controlled colony. -
Fortport's Tajara Application

Fair point. I can cut the handicaps bit out. I also gave longer answers to the other queries. -
BYOND Key: Fortport. Character Names: My characters are Nisha Dokado, Henji Chetou, and Robbie Calhoun. Species you are applying to play: Tajara. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Taupe. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Short answer, not completely. Long answer, I've taken the time to study Hharar physiology and culture. Please provide well-articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want to play with this species for more variety in my role-play. I've played as humans here on Aurora for about a year now, and I'm thirsty for some xeno-flavor. It's been a long time since I've applied for anything here, as well, so I figured I'd give it a whirl. I hope this will be accepted, for more spice to my selection of characters. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The tajaras have different physical traits and culture when compared to humans. They talk differently and have a tendency to roll the "R" sound, as well as their habit of speaking in third-person. Then there's their digitigrade anatomy and exotic alien culture. They're more than "just furries," and that's obvious when you read their backstory and examine how they behave. That's how I think they're different. Character Name: Majith Sak'ha Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Majith Sak'ha, a talented and outstanding tajara of Hharar ethnicity, despite her flaws. She was born on a residential station in a lower-class family consisting of her mother, father, and two sisters. She studied hard and persevered in her early education, showing dedication and intelligence to her peers. It seemed Majith had potential, and a bright future even as a young tajara. When she earned her high school diploma, it seemed time for her to move on in life. Majith stayed at home for a few more months and sorted through college applications, even working a part-time job in the meantime. Majith finally left her home and family at the ripe age of eighteen, enrolling in college and excelling steadily for the time that she was there. She eventually graduated with a master's degree in commerce and was given a job opportunity to work on Aurora. Accepting the offer, she began her professional life as an internal affairs agent. When she became thirty, she was promoted and given the title of "Head of Human Resource Management," given her expertise on the subject. Fast forward five more years to the present, and she's still there, fulfilling her duties. What do you like about this character?: Mainly that she's overcome the stereotype of "uneducated tajaran." She's a good start, and I can use her in a head position from the get-go. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I've role-played for eight years, but I'm mostly self-taught. I let others gauge my ability to role-play because my opinion might be biased. Notes: Let me know if this application is trash. I'll take criticism, and fix anything that I can.

I've used RP handicaps for character development and etc. They're not totally worthless, and can mean something. Everything else that you said, I agree with.

I know this is one of those suggestions that people think are pointless, but it is a notable enhancement. The game wouldn't be worse off for it, in the end, as there are already spammy sounds. Think of a game like Neo Scavenger, with its diverse glossary of sounds. From the "click-click" of medkits or suitcases to the zipping of backpacks and other objects. Right now there's only one generic rustle sound for all containers. What's the point? You could say that it wouldn't improve the game in a massive way, even if it's an enhancement. Inventory management would become more satisfying in hindsight, and that helps with immersion in a small way. Couldn't that just get annoying? Zipping and clicking? There's already plenty of ways to spam, and you don't hear it all the time. What does this do for gameplay? You would be able to figure out what other people are sorting through. Is it their backpack, suitcase, or a cardboard box?
-
That's one of the main reasons why I want it to be coded in. You really wouldn't be able to see or hear, which cuts down on metagaming. As for whether or not it's a waste of our developers' time? Mmh, I'unno. It's an enhancement for players who roleplay this. Suddenly it's more believable for you and everyone else because you really are limited, both through roleplay and gameplay. From my perspective, naturally occurring blindness and deafness are already in. You would only have to make it an option at creation, and to make it so that it cannot be fixed because it's "space-blindness" or something. Not to say that you're wrong, UnknownMurder. There is a lot of things the developers could do to make the game that much more colorful and detailed, but they're avoided because of development time.
-
That's not fair, really. I've been wanting this for a while, and I don't think it'd hurt anything.
-
I don't see what's stopping anyone from RPing a mute/deaf character as is. We even have sign language for it. We already have the coding in for these to work in-game. It's just a matter of making it an option to actually have these problems so that they really can't hear or speak. Crosses out all metagaming, and makes it realer. Oh, and keep the sign language, right?
-
I'm sure this might've been hinted at before, and that it's probably been turned down. For those of you who can't immediately tell, my idea is for characters to choose handicaps to start with. But this is the future! We can fix it! That right there might've turned down the idea before. But, I have a different way to suggest this. Make it so that if a player chooses one of the handicaps, they cannot run to the medbay and have it fixed. Well, it's still the future! That doesn't make sense! Neither does SSD. Just come up with something else, like space-blindness or whatever. But that's dumb! Nanotrasen wouldn't hire on a blind security officer! I agree. Some of the handicaps could be RP restricted from certain jobs. No blind officers or chemists, but there could be deaf chefs and etc. Mute bartenders and doctors, for example. What's the point!? It really opens up roleplay.
