Replacing Surface Janitorial Closet with a Recycle Plant
Nekonyan123 replied to Nekonyan123's topic in Archive
Yes, that could be optimal too. I proposed to replace the surface closet because it's hardly used. -
Hello everyone, this is my first suggestion to this community. I took some time to search the forums to see if someone already made this suggestion, and I didn't find much. So I took some time to think and polish out the concept of this suggestion. I hope you will appreciate my proposition and take enough time to consider it. Have a nice day. Suggestion: Recycling Plant TL;DR: Replace surface's Janitor Closet with a Recycling Plant, where the Janitor will select junk from the trash crusher and bring it to the plant for recycle, to fetch extra steel, glass, plastic and other useful tools and materials back into the station's chain. To achieve that, developers would need to clear surface's Janitor Closet and replace it with a basic recycling facility. Autholates can already recycle some items such as tools back into steel. If it was possible to code a "Recycling Machine", maybe by taking inspiration from Mining's Processing Plant (Conveyor belts that leads to some sort of Decomposer, and from the Decomposer into a Stacking Machine, so you can have a "Junk Box" that is full of veding machine's cans, empty mo'gunz meat pies wrapping, empty chemistry bottles, beakers, empty plates and all things you can throw to disposals. Janitor's would have a new task, fetch junk from the crusher and process it back to usable materials such as: steel, glass, plastic, biomass and all. Having some random starting trash could be useful too, so Janitor could have something more to do rather than waiting for lights to break down, floors to be in need of cleaning, machines in need of maintenance and general other Janitor things. I proposed this because I feel like Janitor does not have much to do when there's nothing to fix or clean, or there are no pests. About recycling Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into new materials and objects. It is an alternative to "conventional" waste disposal that can save material and avoid to waste it. When I think about a futuristic setting, waste recycling seems like a common and important task to consider while designing starbases, starships and generally every human-inhabited environment. NSS Aurora is mostly a Research and Mining station, meaning that materials are extracted and processed locally to be redistributed in the internal chain of the station, and to be shipped to CentComm too from Cargo. Raw ores are turned into materials, and from materials, to profit and products. However, living spaces produces waste too, things like trash, corpses, broken down items and useless junk. These items are usually left on the floor disposed via the mostly efficient trash disposal system of the station. Every item or corpse that is disposed this way, makes a long run inside the disposal pipes, their final destination being the crusher or the external outlet if it's medbay's quarantine waste. From there, trash basically sits down until round end or is compressed to inexistance. (Or sometimes scavenged by Cargo Champs) Don't you think that if there was a way to process those waste back into valuable materials or maybe even spare energy, it would be way more efficient? Surface Level Janitor Closet Do you know, this little and lonely custodial shack? It is a small closet located in Surface Level, near the Merchant's Airlock and Cargo entrance, featuring just the bare necessities for a Janitor: a cart, a mop bucket, an hazard closet, a supply closet, a bucket and a water tank. It's hardly used, and most of the times it just sits there doing nothing. Introducing: the Recycle Plant (I used standard sprites with an image editing software) After new studies on recycling and waste repurposing, NanoTrasen Corporation decided to modify Tau Ceti's Stations to include a state-of-the-art Recyling Plant. After a small crash course to update on new waste disposing protocols, Janitors will now be tasked waste handling and processing inside the new plant, located in Surface, in the place of the old surface closet. There, Janitors will find new equipment to aid them in their new duty. Tools of the trade found there: An Autholate to turn waste materials back into steel, glass and/or useful tools or objects produced by said machine. A Biogenerator to turn waste biomass back into biomass, and from biomass to other useful things produced by said machine. An intake disposals chute that will toss on the zone marked by the striped lines all the things that are disposed in the chutes. An outlet disposals chute to throw away waste that can't be recycled. It will end up in the crusher. A Waste Converter (sprite from baystation12's autholate) that will turn rubbish into waste materials, waste biomass or plastic (maybe even paper recycle) to be processed by the Autholate and the Biogenerator. Closets with emergency supplies and tools. What would be needed to implement this: Spriting and coding the "Waste Converter", a machine that would take trash and turn it into temporary items, "waste materials", "waste biomass" etc... Remapping the Trash Pipes Network to divert all waste directed to the crusher into the Recycling Plant, and from it, a single line delivering unrecoverable waste into the crusher. Remapping Surface Janitor Closet into a Recycling Plant. Testing. I hope you will enjoy my proposal and find enough time to give it a read and/or give me feedback or ideas to further expand the concept. Thanks and have a nice day.

[Accepted] Nekonyan123's IPC Application
Nekonyan123 replied to Nekonyan123's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi, thanks for taking some time to review my app. I appreciate it. About your first concern. I don't think M.A.U.L.E.R. is a stereotype character, or at least, that's not the image I want to transmit. I do apologize if someone ever believed me to not take the roleplay aspect of the game seriously, as I said, I love roleplay and I always try my best, being open to feedback and tips to improve. When I play as M.A.U.L.E.R., I don't make the Robot behave like a stereotype Bender from Futurama sort of character, but I simply make the bot obey his laws and roleplay as a stationbound machine. That's how I see it, and I do apologize if I ever gave the idea of not taking it seriously. In average, I believe a stationbound character should obey his laws and serve the crew, and that's what M.A.U.L.E.R. does. I did read every wiki article related to Stationbound Synthetics, if you think I am doing something wrong, please help me and I'll do my best to improve. To answer your question, I plan to play IPCs as they are designed, and obviously by doing my best to give out a good and fun roleplay experience to me and fellow players. About your second concern. The backstory is told the way a robot would probably tell it. It lacks details because machines founds them futile. I wouldn't call it a creative writing essay, but simply, an IC backstory. Robots, as the reference material suggests, mimics human brain, so they lack or at least just emulate feelings, and their way of thinking and acting is driven by logic and the task they have assigned. My backstory is told from the IC perspective: simply an IPC reporting his operational history and further useful data. This does not mean the character lacks an OOC history (and in fact he have one). I hoped you would understand that, and would appreciate the little touch of extra inside of it. But if you require me to post a different backstory, maybe from the OOC perspective, or if you would appreciate me to change the form the backstory is told and add further details, I will be happy to meet your requests. Just let me know. Thanks again for your time and have a nice day. -
BYOND Key: Nekonyan123 Character Names: Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: exempt Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I find that IPCs give a much more different approach to roleplay, rather than the plain human. I think having the chance to have some IPCs characters would give me more freedom while playing the game, since I could create different characters. I found the possibility, according to the lore, that an IPC could get freedom and citizenship really appealing and I could really see an IPC fighting for awareness about that freedom not being granted anywhere in the galaxy. I find it interesting that there are certain restrictions about an IPC's behaviour because that means you have the chance to play differently, thus giving more variety to the game. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I would say that the main difference is the lack of emotions, or at least the mere emulation of true feelings. This mean that the machine will react differently to certain situations unlike organic crew. IPCs must be strict and always logical, meaning that they will tend to their activities with efficiency. This does not mean that they are mere "cool machines" like a Terminator, but it means that they have a different way to see things and they will behave in a certain manner. Facing discrimination by intollerant or racist crew might be an interesting challenge to engage with while playing as an IPC, and it would give good ideas to get a deep and fruitful roleplay. Those are the main differences, I think. Character Name: I.P.U. 565-B Please provide a short backstory for this character What do you like about this character? I like that early in the beginning of its existance, it faced a big challenge. If it was to be deemed for termination, it would never had the chance to exist anymore and it would have been simply scrapped. I like this background because it gives me the chance to express the will the IPC have to keep existing and to show everyone it is good enough to be kept around the station. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I really love roleplaying and I am always up for feedback, learning and to improve my skills. I'd say I am a decent roleplayer and that I try to be always inclusive with people I play with. Overall I would say 7.5/10. Notes: This is my first application for race whitelist and I hope I did it all correctly.

Character Feedback: Galliard Isemann
Nekonyan123 replied to Leudoberct's topic in Character and Concept Feedback
Good pharmacist always saving the day. I like the inner grumpyiness. -
I found DAWSON to be a well developed and interesting character, the thing I liked the more was the attention to details such as the whole "no feelings" thing. He is a good Cargo Tech and Amanda had really funny with him. Good job with the character and see you soon!

Reporting Personnel: Amanda Tomson Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Cargo Technician Game ID: bZK-bDk4 Personnel Involved: (Name, Job Title: Offender/Witness/Other) Amanda Tomson (Cargo Technician, Victim) Celka En-Garavine (Quartermaster, Victim/Witness) Patrick O'Callaghan (Detective, Offender) Jake Jarvis (Officer, Offender) Carlton Burke, (Captain, Witness) Time of Incident: 7:15 AM Real Time: (4/13/19 15:15 GMT+1) Location of Incident: Red Dock Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ X ] - Assault [ ] - Misconduct [ X ] - Other _____ Overview of the Incident: I was at Red Dock with Celka, my friend and co-worker onboard NSS Aurora. We were exposed to radiations during cargo repairs. Carps attacked surface level, and since Engineering was unable to respond, we had to fix our Department ourselves. We had to get ourself weapons to deal with the carps. I got an hatchet and a boot knife from our warehouse and Celka found a gun too. We then terminated the carps and sealed the broken windows. Then I had a workplace injury, I blinded myself with the torch and the radiation kicked in. We rushed to Medbay before the shuttle was called. It was the moment when we moved from Medbay to the Red Docks that the incident happened. Patrick O'Callaghan and Jake Jarvis stopped us, stating that they had a search warrant that authorized them to search us. I refused the search because we were on code green and I was at a serious health risk, I had not the time to get searched. Patrick O'Callaghan dragged my stretcher away from Celka, the one that was assisting me and trying to calm me down and dragged me to Security's Red Dock zone. He shutted the door behind him and cuffed me to the stretcher, without stating that I was under arrest and without telling me my rights. I was scared because they brought me away from my friend Celka and started to touch me, removing my bag, all of this without calming me down. It was a terrible experience. They had not the right to arrest or search me, and I belive my rights were violated. Shortly after, they arrested Celka too. All we were guilty of, was to do our job for the good of the station, and we were abused and humiliated by those two. After we arrived to Odin, instead of bringing me to Medbay for urgent radiation detox, he dragged me toward the safe holding cell, like a sack of potatoes. I request Internal Affairs to investigate this abuse, and take actions to prevent further shameful incidents like this onboard the station. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: Carlton Burke, Captain Actions taken: He asked them to uncuff me from the stretcher and to cuff me to a chair... Additional Notes: I don't know why they suspected us to have contraband, because we did nothing wrong, while they abused their powers on us innocent workers. They will surely hear from my lawyer!
