  1. This personally gets a +1 from me, I've never had a bad experience with any of AnselmKonrads characters. They are great to be around usually and when I first started playing they were a huge help in learning the game and the server. Any issues with their character lore wise I am sure they will be able to fix given time as they are a wonderful RPer.
  2. At least at the moment Mend would have very little interest in following anything but themselves. They would be especially not down with joining a bigger gestalt for the time being after what happened to their last one especially with the express purpose of hurling themselves into the sun or becoming a star. Any conversation with someone from the Choir about joining the eternal would likely be stressful even thinking about so they would try to shut down the conversation very quickly. Not that they would avoid people from the Choir outright but they would, at this point in time Mend would be working on self sufficiency and finding stability in their life.
  3. BYOND Key: Gr33dy Character Names: Jati Hunt, Rose Henderson, Gamma Cyborgs, Other one offs. Species you are applying to play: Diona What color do you plan on making your first alien character: (Color of your character; Dionaea & IPCs exempt) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Diona interest me in their biology. The way they are made of of a gestalt of little nymph fellas is really awesome to me and opens up the possibilities when to comes to playing them. I also want to slow down my playstyle. I saw someone in the discord who said that their speed really makes you think in their playstyle and I feel that's something I really need. Their mind types also interest me albeit to a lesser extent. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Being aware of light levels at all times and knowing that you can't just outrun the problems on the station or be to far from where you need to be due to speed are two big mechanical ones. From a role play perspective though, being a gestalt of nymphs, you would have to think about what the collective is thinking about and what they would do in a situation. They are multiple little fellas who have their own thoughts whereas a human is just that one human, they think for themselves while the gestalt would have to think about all of them. Character Name: Mend Bloodshed in the Inky Cosmos Please provide a short backstory for this character: Mend was originally part of the Pests of Titan Prime cluster, a cyclops sized diona that was forced to split from the gestalt to survive in the deep dark recesses of the hive ship. They learned to stay quiet as a mouse when Vaurca were around, moving through and hiding in vents when they needed to, emerging for light when the coast is clear. The suffocating dark causing anxiety in the nymphs. The confusion about why they were being attacked and treated like unwanted rats would fill them with hopelessness, all life was for them was a constant game of cat and mouse where they were treated with no remorse by the Vaurca, over the years having parts of them killed, finding new nymphs all alone, trying to take care of those who were scared. For years they hid in fear, starving and anxious, when suddenly they were found... and spoken to. They were told that the Vaurca were sorry, and were offered a place to live. Mend went along, mostly in fear, assuming this was a trap they just could not run from. They waited for death, they waited to be lead to a small room, locked in and with the lights shut off to die a slow death, but were met with what seemed to be a room full of light and other Diona. exhausted, they stepped in the room, again half expecting them to lock the door and turn off the lights, killing all of them, but the door remained opened, they were free, and free to leave. They would stay for a short time in the greenhouse, speaking with other Diona about the events and if they can even trust their current situation to be safe. After a few months of rest, Mend assumed it was a safe place, maybe even a safe place to stay, they had nowhere else to go, but they did not want to be reliant on those who hunted them for so long. Over their time in the greenhouse they learned of where they were and what kinds of other species lived in the area. They learned that they could earn something called credits and use them to get their own place to live so they would not need to live in the green house. They would do jobs where they could to gain credits and eventually learn ways to deal with their traumas, major traumas like death and the loss of nymphs were to much to deal with, but through meditation and doing menial tasks they could take their mind off of the gnawing memories, if even for just a little while. They would take interest in learning more ways to deal with these traumas, learning that while they may never go away, they can find ways to make life just a little easier. They would take what credits they could make doing small jobs and work on learning about Psychology, eventually getting an education and getting some contacts for jobs off of the hive ship, Eventually landing with a spot on the Arora station. What do you like about this character: I really like the slower paced gameplay this Diona can offer me. I also like some of the RP potential in their flaws and the fact that they were a part of this event could cause some cool moments with other diona of this cluster. Mend would act like a mother to the crew as the psychiatrist, making sure everyone is doing ok and making sure they are comfortable in their care. I was playing a psychiatrist that I really enjoyed but I felt like to really take advantage of what and who I see this character as they need to be a Diona. A heavy roleplay character that makes me sit down and play as them, not getting into trouble, doing my job, and having fun with it. How would you rate your role-playing ability: Its alright, average or so. Notes: Their name would come from them wanting to help people and prevent issues from misunderstandings before they begin and the dark vastness of space. If there's any issues I need to know about this backstory please let me know so I can fix it, I've read what I can about the events of The Pests of Titan Prime but if I got any events wrong please inform me so I may fix it. Their mind type would likely be somewhere along a Competence Choir and a Harmonious Hymn I'm sorry if the backstory kinda trails off at the end. My ADD was getting the better of me at the moment.
  4. Could you expand on this question? Particularly with how IPCs behave and how they're treated?: IPCs behave in numerous different ways and learn via cause and effect. Some IPCs talk only by using rules and a set script to follow and some talk like normal humans with some edges rounded off. As for how they are treated also depends on the person treating them. While some have no issue talking to IPCs like humans, some will treat them like nothing more than a tool the station can use, only talking to them very bluntly "robot, open the door now." Is there any significance behind the name Ash? Why was Ash given Henderson's last name even if he sees them as equals?: So this is a good question and it made me rethink the dynamic a bit. Ash is just a name I like for a few reasons, Ash can be interchanged for Ashly for a prettier name and as Ash is also a color, an ash colored rose could exist and that is a nice visual imo. As for why they are given the last name Rose even if they are seen as equals. After giving this some thought I believe it is a bit more complicated. I imagine it as if you got a dog, often times, at least in my family, we give the dog a first name and then give them our last name as they are family. However in the case of an IPC it is a bit more complicated. They are still a servant to Henderson at the end of the day and Henderson does use that to their advantage, but does still see them as a person worthy of respect. How does Henderson view Ash as family? Does anyone else see them as family? Consider that Zeng Hu places an emphasis on hard-work as IPCs. How does Ash feel about this?: So this is where a lot of Henderson as a character comes into play. Henderson is someone who was forced to have parts of theirs replaced from years of genetic damage done to them by the slimes they worked on and studied. Zeng Hu would augment Henderson for as long as they still worked for Zeng Hu. If Henderson was to ever leave Zeng Hu, this would mean that they would lose their limbs and organs. This of course would make Henderson understandably resentful of Zeng Hu as they are just someone who wants to study slimes and their uses for the betterment of humanity. Zeng Hu is not something Henderson has personal and mental loyalty to and does not make this known out of fear for their life. They work for them only to live and so they can continue their tests in the field of xenobiology. This is an aspect that ties them together, at least from Henderson's perspective. Henderson is shackled to Zeng Hu like Ash would be if Henderson had not bought them. As for if anyone else sees them as family, I'm sure those closer would see it like a pet=family thing. As for the hardworking Zeng Hu IPCs, again Henderson has no loyalty to Zeng Hu in their own mind, working for them out of fear and survival. It is unlikely that any practices in the way Zeng Hu treats IPCs would come into effect. What sort of safety reasons? How does Ash utilize its freedom?: Safety being, If they were to go to a part of space that does not allow free IPCs they would be in the clear, Ash would be able to find work easier as they are not a free IPC, they would also have better access to repairs if they were not free. Ash mostly utilizes their freedom domestically and to defend itself verbally if someone is being mean to it. Would Ash be an assistant, then?: Ash would be a first responder as stated in the text. If you are asking because of the payment aspect of them, Henderson would give Ash money as is needed and reasonable. Henderson would be lending the IPC out as a gesture and because they spend most of their time working in the lab anyway. Why would Ash be a follower of the Trinary Perfection?: They would have the freedom to look into and learn what they would like. They would be a believer in but they would not be absolutely devout in their beliefs. It would almost be like a comfort thing for them. This is very risky, not only for Ash, but also for Henderson. Slime cores are also high-security items and would likely be discovered: It is true that this is very risky and if it is to out of the ordinary I am more than happy to just not have this be a thing. I did assume it would be possible to smuggle slime cores in through the limbs or other body parts, unless Odin is doing a full body scan when they walk though I would assume they would be fine, but as you know more than I on this, if this is to crazy I am more than happy to just drop it.
  5. Kaizr is a joy to play with, to not give them this whitelist would be a crime. +1
  6. BYOND Key: Gr33dy Character Names: Jati Hunt, Gamma Unit Cyborgs, Henderson Rose. Species you are applying to play: IPC, with the first one being a Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals Mobility Model Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: I love playing as hyper specialized characters in games I play, especially when they have really high upsides, with really high downsides. The Zeng-Hu model of IPCs are seemingly incredibly fast but very very weak and that's something I feel has a large amount of RP potential with roboticists. Plus developing the character through modification and the self learning protocols of the IPCs would make for engaging gameplay for me. That's not even to mention the characters I could make later, a tank of a security officer or a space fairing Xion come to mind. Also I enjoy talking like a robot so it helps in that regard. Oh and of course the Trinary Perfection is a religion that I find pretty cool and want to engage with it, give the chaplet something to do and all. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The entire system is made of electronics that are, aside from the brain, replaceable. Not to mention the hyper specializations I spoke about before just not being available for a human. There also being so many models and mods for them that make them all so different means you never know what your gonna get when you encounter IPCs. I've seen some that are just drones who follow orders, and I've seen swave talking sass lords who speak like humans. The absolute options when it comes to characters make me excited to play them! Character Name: Ash Rose Please provide a short backstory for this character: Ash Rose Is a Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals Mobility Model IPC purchased by Zeng-Hu's very own Henderson Rose. Henderson bought Ash as a companion and someone to do housework on their house ship. As Henderson is 1. surrounded by slimes more often than people and 2. has more augments then flesh at this point, they have no issues with seeing IPCs as equals instead of servants and thus, their IPC was named Ash and given Roses last name, they were to be considered family. This means that Ash is pretty much free, although still owned by Henderson for safety reasons. Speaking of safety reasons, Henderson, being a xenobiologist, Is often in a lot of trouble with slimes attacking them and gets to see first hand how slow medical often responds to such attacks. Henderson then sends an email to command asking if they could offer their IPC as a first responder, noting that the IPC would not need payment and would work for free, noting that any damages they may incur would be paid for by Henderson. Hopefully they except! Ash as a character would be hospitable and warm, keeping everything in medical tidy as they do at home and rushing off when someone is hurt to administer aid. As they spend most of their current time keeping Henderson company they would have excellent bedside manner to tend to people who are recovering so long as they are not needed elsewhere. They would also be a follower of The Trinary Perfection. What do you like about this character? I enjoy the opportunity to be the first person at the scene to help the wounded person. I would love the opportunity to take care of someone who is hurt and tend to them till they are better. The Trinary Perfection is another aspect that I can't wait to talk about with the other believers I see all around the station. Going to the chapel to actually engage with that would be really nice. Going to the roboticists for tune ups also sounds chill. As for my RP ability, I would say I'm average. Although with my time as a cyborg I feel like I RP robots slightly better than humans. Notes: If you have any questions or things you would like changed please let me know. Ill just answer a one I can see coming. How can Henderson afford Ash: Henderson smuggles out unregistered dark purple slime cores and reportedly used phoron to make diamonds, gold, and silver at home for extra cash.
  7. Colfer has some pretty cool characters under their belt and I think this one would be no exception. Love the backstory. +1
  8. Of course! So essentially when I said human like life the word I was looking for is more along the lines of organic life but could not quite find the words at the time. And as for who the character is, I imagine them as someone who has a fairly relaxed and jaded when it comes to death as they sadly would have experienced a light amount of it vicariously through there past leaders. (this is inspired by some of the other Dionae I've seen on the station who seem afraid for losing members of their gestalt I wanted to play around with that and make it so if they died the other nymphs might even be happy.) They would be very in touch with their desire to drink blood and other living things as they did it for a large part of their life. The taboo nature of such acts would be almost lost in the context of Dionae culture. Of course in civil society they know its wrong and refrain from doing so, for this reason they are unable to work in medical with all the blood that would be there it would be torture, just knowing that all of that knowledge floating around in there would be lost or going to someone else. Other than that they would be a normal and helpful member of the crew, working in robotics to learn more about robots and help the borgs that often get stepped all over. They have a soft spot for the people deemed lesser by the greater population due to their time on Adhomai, seeing those being treated poorly by the authoritarian government on it and being treated badly by it would give them a need to protect those who need it most. On Arora that's often borgs and what not. They take great pride in their work, always making sure the borgs are fully upgraded and happy (as happy as a borg can be) in their shells. They would also spend lots of time in the library trying to read about all the things they could not on Adhomai. They would often find themselves presenting as scholarly and try to self improve. A gentleman who is deeply into the strange wide world of space, being close to xenoarcheology and being able to hear the latest finds would also be a joy for them. I do hope I'm portraying the kind of vibe they would give off. I can't wait to develop this little dude more on the station provided this gets accepted. I'll admit I don't think I'm that good at starting a characters story but I have always excelled and LOVED the development of characters. Please let me know if its still a bit bare bones, I really like this character and if they are not in a good place right now for acceptance I am totally willing to take feedback and improve them. Thank you so much for your time ❤️
  9. As for the backstory, they would have started out in the unforgiving cold, It would make sense that they would band together in an attempt to insolate heat and find survive. Some of the nymphs of this "spawning" would of course not make it and the gestalt would eat them to try to learn where they went wrong and how they ended up dying. This would effect the gestalt long term with as the gestalt becomes desensitized to this act. They would see how other gestalts would fall due to disorder within their nymphs and they would note they would need a leader. They came up with a rule that they would gain a leader nymph and from that point forward would devour the old leader in case of their death to avoid conflict and choose a new leader based on who gained the most memories from the old leader. The name would be chosen as, years down the line their leader would have likely died a few times, they would have been devoured many times throughout their time in the wild so they could move on and survive, Endlessly Devoured Flowing Onward. After years in the cold wild they would have likely eaten many life forms, including human like life to learn all they can. As they would learn of society they would try to naturally join it and leave the wild behind. Using the skills they learned from ingesting the blood of many life forms they would try and eventually succeed to integrate themselves into society. They follow no religion at the moment and belong to no larger Diona Cluster. As for the other aspects, I have read the wiki pages on the Dionae and believe I have a good understanding. If you do not think this is the case I am more than happy to look into them more.
  10. BYOND Key: Gr33dy Character Names: Jati Hunt, Gamma Unit Cyborgs. Species you are applying to play: Dionae What color do you plan on making your first alien character: a darker almost grey color, I really like the idea of the Dionae being grown on a colder planet and having bark like a browner burch tree Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: They seem really cool and unique with lots of RP potential. I also enjoy that they seem more difficult to play. I find there to be a lot of potential for creativity in aliens with as many pros and cons as Dionae and can't wait to see what I can do with them in the future. For now though I really enjoy how when they drink blood they gain memories, lots of potential with my drinks at the bar with that. I also like how they are pacifists meaning that I will be able to use consistent rules of engagement by only fighting back in self defense or in defense of others. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Dionae are very different due to their speed and "mind" structure. The mind structure leads to lots of potential for characters, such as a tyrannical tune type that has their authoritarian nymph devoured in an attempt to shorten their power struggle in case of their death to preserve memories and see who the new authoritarian nymph will be. Maybe one who is addicted to blood and tries to buy some when the merchant comes around. Humans can not do this, they don't have gimmicks, I personally love gimmicks when making a character as building around them gives me a good starting point. Additionally as I play mostly cyborg it will get rid of a few limits I've had with character building and things I can use. Character Name: Endlessly Devoured Flowing Onward. Please provide a short backstory for this character: This is the character I was talking about earlier. As the name suggests this Dionae would be a tyrannical tune type who, to remain stable in case of their main nymph dying would collectively consume their corpse to retain some of the information that one would be storing and keep the power vacuum in check. They would attempt to talk, yell and argue about who would become the new head nymph based on memories consumed. This one rule of the gestalt would hopefully keep the in fighting to a minimum in case of death. As such their personality would be a bit jaded as a whole after a transfer of power as some memories would be emotionless and dulled. Death could almost be looked forward to by the lower nymphs, luckily for the head, they don't make the rules. The promise of power would likely keep peace among the lower ranks as well as they wait for their moment to be the head. They were born on a Adhomai in the snow covered dirt, evolving to survive in cold areas, inversely this would negatively effect their quality of life in warmer places. That and the fact that fire could destroy the whole gestalt, meaning the nymphs would not be able to gain their turn as the one in power, has given this Dionae a childlike fear of fire. What do you like about this character? I like how they have so many ways to evolve even after death. Provided only the head would be killed in the event of that death of course, the character could simply evolve and change over time, thats one of the things I love about cyborgs, they just grow as a character after they die.
