SS14 is categorically incompatible with Aurora-style HRP as the server will be unable to exist on the SS14 hub and will be targeted by SS14 administration for not complying with their requirements against IC racism and absurdities like that.
It has to be said that SS14 is not and likely will never be a replacement for SS13. In the same way that Unitystation was ultimately a project that culminated in the recreation of a certain style of SS13 server, SS14 is the pet project of its developers and is designed to recreate the experience they desire, not the SS13 experience as a whole - a look at the SS14 server hub will uniformly show MRP (ERP?) furry servers that play like a combination of /tg/ and /vg/ with a sprinkling of other LRP codebases thrown in.
For Aurora to make the transition to SS14, we would have to essentially destroy the server - we’d be left recreating all of the features of the server in an environment where our lore and style of gameplay and roleplay is not only completely out of the ordinary, but also unwanted by the people responsible for developing SS14. There’s so many reasons this transition would be a non-starter, but the biggest is probably that the Aurora developers would likely prefer not to start from scratch and instead work on things they’d actually be interested in.
I’m personally of the opinion that SS14 is a total failure in its aims of being a successor to SS13, and I suspect any project that simply seeks to “replace” SS13 will always be way too narrow in scope unless it involves the conversion of existing SS13 code into another language and engine. I also just don’t like SS14 and the people running it, and I would prefer we stay far away from it.
