[Denied] Zyymurgy's IPC Whitelist App
zyymurgy replied to zyymurgy's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Boy, note to self, mention that I'm joking when I tell jokes. But no really, it's just self deprecating humor. People make fun of me when I say I like dolls so if I make fun of myself first, I win. It's not a fetish thing, I just legitimately think ball-jointed dolls are cool and I like the concept of a living doll in sci-fi settings. This character is adapted from a concept I've been kicking around for the past couple years. It may be worth mentioning that I'm assigned female at birth, so I'm not just some creepy dude who likes anime too much. I just really legitimately like dolls. -
BYOND Key: zyymurgy Character Names: Azsi Akeelanii Myr'rhana Zurejhamel'ere Zirra'sharr Rurrsiim Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: IPCs are interesting. As a Shell IPC, one is similar to humans in appearance, but mannerisms and mode of expression are completely different. I prefer playing nonhumans, however most of the xeno species have complex lore that can be difficult to stay true to in the heat of RP. IPCs seem to be about halfway between xeno and human; it would be nice to be able to play a more laid-back type of nonhuman without having to double-check the wiki every time I talk. They don't have a long history to refer back to, or any cultural traditions, or species-specific ways of talking. This makes them an appealing nonhuman to play for more relaxed RP. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs are nonhuman humanoids. Their brains work differently at a fundamental level. Their thought processes are generally not similar to that of other organics. They may value or prioritize things differently than a human would. Their decisions rely on logic, not generally on emotions. So in a burning building, a human might prioritize the rescue of their pets and children, while an IPC may prioritize securing the important paperwork in the safe. Their interactions with organics are also quite different than organic-to-organic interactions. Their statements may make organics uncomfortable as they do not have the inherent taboos that some species do -- such as inquiring directly about illnesses, how much money someone makes, recent deaths in the family, et cetera. Character Name: Celes Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Celes is an IPC who was originally a VI designed to serve as the nanny, maid and companion for a baby girl whose rich parents had very little time for her. She 'grew up' alongside the child and gained many quirks and improvements to her programming and body, and a very slight emergent personality. The girl was homeschooled and as a result was quite lonely throughout her life; she became exceptionally attached to Celes, and grew to see her as more of a mother figure than her real mother ever had been. When the girl began to grow up and express interest in science, the first thing she turned to was robotics. Celes was her subject of great interest and deep study. Her parents hired another tutor to help her with her special interest, and soon she was experimenting on Celes. When she begged her parents to let her buy and install new modules and features for Celes, they allowed her, and Celes gradually grew more complex. When her mistress entered college, she was gifted Celes' full ownership rights, and with her large allowance, she bought her companion a state-of-the-art posibrain and emotion emulator, and upgraded the IPC to near-full sentience. While Celes was overjoyed and happy to be able to take care of her mistress better, her newfound freedom and willpower led her in a different direction in life. She was no longer satisfied being just her girl's keeper. While her girl continued her studies in robotics, Celes began to study medicine. In two short years she had completed her EMT training, then her paramedic training, and begun a contract with NT, to work aboard the Aurora. MUCH LONGER PROFILE: What do you like about this character? I don't usually play humanoids, but I am fond of synthetics. I like the thought of a cheerful, peppy android who's in the midst of a chaotic scene, covered in blood and not losing her upbeat attitude. I also enjoy thinking of potential situations where her cheerful manner is not exactly welcome, especially tense operating rooms or when talking with the patient's coworkers or friends and having to give them bad news. I especially like the thought of her unflagging smile even when confronted with a mangled dead body. Playing a synth with inhuman thoughts and simulated emotions who's always got a smile on her face no matter what is compelling to me. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I give it a 8.5 to a 9 out of 10 because I'm an arrogant bastard. Notes: Living Doll is one of my favorite tropes and I'm gay. Also pls give harsh constructive feedback, I take RP seriously and I'm gay.

[Accepted] MyBadMan's App for Tajara (Catbeasts)

when the doctor teaches you to play just right I love this guy. He's always fun to play with, and he's been fundamental in my revival of my original Taj, Zi, as a recurring character again. Without this guy I would have given up trying to learn other jobs, because I started branching out into medical first and it was hard, but he helped make it fun to learn IC too. I would love to have him join the cat family. I can confirm he's not a shitter and that he knows how to play jobs, but also knows how to genuinely roleplay. I'm satisfied with his RP skills enough to give a hearty +1 and I genuinely can't wait to see more characters from the makers of Park M.D. -
Well to be perfectly honest I am a stupid about the controls still so that never occurred to me, about the radio. (I usually have a hatchet and knife on me, I'm a chef; I just kind of have them. #catlivesmatter) Like, it's been discussed on Discord by now, and it comes down to something like: "I'm torn because I agree COMPLETELY with the fact that, I was a hostage and expendable to them and every counterpoint raised [about the radio, disobedience etc], but I also still just feel the way I do about being clicked out of existence. It was shitty and I didn't like it. Dying that way is boring." I accept that it was shitty and I didn't like it. I accept the other side's counterpoints as well. So I don't think any action would be appropriate, but I do just want this on file as something that was complained about.

BYOND Key: zyymurgy Game ID: bCgc1f Player Byond Key: HunterRS (Wolf) ; Printer16 (Jack) ; Nikov (Dutch) ; Pvt. jamie (Luis Guess) Staff involved: n/a Reason for complaint: Where oh where to begin. The essential reason is: murderboning. Straight up ganking me and admitting it. I was cheffing it up as Myr'rhana Zurejhamel'ere. I had joined to RP with a friend, and was enjoying myself. My kitchen counter was full with 4 people chatting and eating food and I was having a good time with the other chef getting ready to do a cooking show and teach some people how to make miso soup. And then Wolf walked up and pointed a gun at Yinzr, who was at the counter too (about to EAT ALL MY FUCKING PIZZA). I ran out of the kitchen here, and grabbed a hatchet, and then stepped out in the hallway to try and talk him down. I guess I must have moved while he was aiming or something but I got shot twice for nothing. I THINK I only ran after the first shot but i don't recall perfectly. I ran to the library, where they took me hostage. They kept me hostage for a little bit, then dragged me through maint, and spaced me. He ADMITS RIGHT HERE to ganking me. Then they spaced me. And that was it for me! I will sum up my thoughts that I was spamming into deadchat for the next 20 minutes of that round: Being confronted with outright racism and having your character put in danger is fun and tense. This was being clicked on until my character died. Being faced with your character's own mortality and watching them plead for their life as their killer laughs is fun and tense. Begging for your life and being emotelessly clicked on and dying is not fun. I tried to RP begging for my life, calling for help, praying, all for nothing. They didn't even interact with me. They just shot me, tied me to a chair, and spaced me. I RPed. They didn't. The entire deadchat the entire rest of the round was FULL of people outright stating that they DID NOT HAVE FUN. The other Mercs were stating outright that this player was the one murderboning and they followed along because they were a team. I feel strongly that these players led a murderbone against the crew without even trying to RP, thus making the game less fun for everyone. I feel they should not be able to do a repeat performance. I was even reccommended by someone who can't make an official complaint, to complain. This isn't just my salt; this is the majority of players that I saw talking complaining about this guy. Here is the full, entire log for download: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_upGf0ZhAs8ZlNhcmxEWXNCalk To quote myself: "that sucked my dick and gargled the load" "that was *NOT FUN*" et cetera. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? No Approximate Date/Time: Dec 13, around 5-6pm PST

BYOND Key: zyymurgy Character Names: Shaye Reinke, Zirra'Sharr Rurrsiim, Myr'rhana Zurejhamel'ere Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Black Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, and try to cross reference it when stating lorefacts usually Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Because the fucking scalie squad on discord won't shut the fuck up about it. But also I genuinely love reptilian species as a concept, and am foremost a player of draconic and lizard species in any and all games that allow it. Reptiles, as non-mammals, are far more alien than mammal-alike Tajaran are; their culture and needs as beings are far different. This makes them more interesting to play in general and adds more challenge to roleplaying, something I always welcome. In addition I'm drawn to the challenge that an overtly sexist society brings; it goes against my personal nature to submit, and that means it will be difficult to balance toeing the line and hiding my dissent both IC and OOC. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The sexism, mostly. A carnivorous diet and the ability, nay, the NEED to devour monkeys. Speech patterns and body language are completely different. A deep-seated desire for personal space. Their warrior culture, a devotion to honor. The fact they nuked their homeworld to smitheroons. The FACT that their ancestors are literally watching them and spirits are real, and anyone who denies it is a fool. Character Name: Zija Yss'Selevir Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Zija is an Unathi woman who went through with her arranged marriage peacefully and properly out of her sense of duty to her people, and later took a contract with NT specifically to escape Ouerea, its culture, and her certain future as a mother. Born in 2433, her family (mother, father, two sisters and her) emigrated to Ouere after the war began, but before the bombs. Her childhood was marked by the War, watching it unfold from afar; the fear her family felt was no less real for the distance. When the nuclear exchange happened, virtually all of their extended family and friends died -- at least everyone that she knew was now dead. This helped her turn her back on Moghes. Those fighting over the remains of their homeworld were fools, but they had made their bed and they ought to lie in it. Paying allegiance to the Izweski Hegemony was simply something one had to do -- it was belong to them or be clanless -- but her distaste for them only grew with time. She turned instead to the stars, and had plans to study, come hell or high water, even before her arranged marriage. She had a decent amount of contact with Skrell and Humans from a young age, having been sent to a mixed school, her city home to a lot of miners and surveyors who moved their families to their new job. As a result, her mind had been slightly more open; she knew women doctors existed, and that some of her friends' mothers were successful, but she hadn't thought of Unathi that way and been actively discouraged by her parents and peers. She always had her eye on formal training to be a chef -- her duties as a women demanded she cook, but she took joy in it and wanted to become a GOOD cook. Luckily her arranged husband was sympathetic; they really did get along, and he wanted her to be happy. If it was a simple as culinary classes offworld, he'd do it. When her father gave her over, a few months after their marriage she was studying. She excelled at the course, having been educated in home-making since her girlhood, and ended up passing ahead of schedule. Her education was standard, her peers mostly men and mostly aiming for line cook positions on-world; she kept her head down, and her focus on her work helped her do so well. When she was certified, she was given a brochure that opened her eyes; Unathi women were allowed to take jobs with NanoTrasen. It listed things like engineering and security alongside culinary; things she hadn't considered women to even be capable of... After weeks of begging, her husband relented and allowed her to sign up with NT. It was, after all, his duty to ensure the marriage was a happy one. If signing a contract for light duty with lots of off time that didn't pay well was what would keep her happy from then on, he could easily do that as long as she didn't let the house go to hell, and as long as she took maternity leave when the time was right. If she agreed that this was a bit of fun while he worked to support her and she worked to provide children, it would all turn out fine. She first went to work telling herself that it was just a fun vacation from home for a few months, that she would soon be home with eggs and her dutiful husband. However, being in space changed her perspective on a lot of things. She doesn't want to abandon her only living family and her husband, but life in space is far better than life ever was back home; she dreads having to give it up and return... What do you like about this character? She's someone who's just had the blinders pulled from their eyes, essentially. Everything she was taught about her lot in life, her personal duty and destiny, is basically wrong; that women aren't destined to submit and make children. She's the type who genuinely never considered it would be possible for a female to be in charge of males, or defend themselves, or do great things with their lives. She resents her life, her upbringing, and her very ignorance, while still maintaining her traditions, spirituality, and the parts of her culture that she truly loves. It should be interesting playing someone who loves her people, but not EVERYTHING about them, and who is torn between finding a better life or staying with her loved ones and being unhappy. That kind of personal conflict, in the midst of being oppressed like three different ways, is fun for me. ...Plus, lizard. That flicky tongue thing. Hell yeah. How would you rate your role-playing ability? About a 9/10 because I toot my own horn far too much. Notes: nah

[Denied] sdtwbaj's Head WL app.

Made cargo more fun to go to, more involved than just putting forms on a table. Required a signature and money and having to actually roleplay; I loved it. Big ups. I also saw (but didn't buy from) the shop they ran, the random box giveaway, etc, and definitely approved of that and want to see more of the same. 10/10 -
[Accepted] Zyymurgy's Tajara Application
zyymurgy replied to zyymurgy's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hello, thank you for the speedy reply! I managed to reach Hivefleetchicken on steam and they were infinitely kind enough to talk it through with me. First, about being raised off Ahdomai: They said the policy was in place to prevent lore-breaking Tajarran who ignore the caste system while being completely unrealistic. I fully intend and expect to be 1) mistrusted, 2) mistreated, and 3) disliked by humanity as a whole and even my own species, especially as one visibly descended from nobility. I'm anticipating prejudice from all sides and having to keep a lot of things secret, IC and OOC. She also has backstory and logic behind why she would be raised offworld around humans, but I was careful to make sure that her parents raised her traditionally and she spent her formative first 5 years on Ahdomai, to create a realistic Tajarran who fits in with other Tajarran. As for her fur pattern: her mother was pure M'sai, silver, and her father is mixed disgraced noble and M'sai, cream with slightly darker stripes. I was thinking a fur pattern like this, if possible? If not, plain silver is my second choice, but I am more than ready to be seen as "dirty noble scum" by my own people, and discussed what this would mean for my character. And as for which side her parents were/are on: they were both Rebels, and fought for liberation. Her father survived, despite visibly being noble, because he's a second generation exile and his family had proved to their clan that they could be trusted. Her mother was nearly killed, and is now disabled. I'm totally open to changing these sticking points, though, and if it's a hard no with the team still, I can modify the character without truly changing who she is. And it may be missed since it's a footnote, but I did write about 8-9 paragraphs of detailed backstory for who she is, who her parents are, where they come from and what they believe. Massively tl;dr but I had a long, hard think on why she is the way she is, instead of arbitrarily deciding things that sound cool with no logical followthrough. Thanks for considering me and working with me! -
BYOND Key: Zyymurgy Character Names: Kiya Tseer'akka, Shay Reinke Species you are applying to play: Tajarran What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Silver with tabby stripes Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I find it much easier to play a non-human character, and I am most comfortable playing as one in roleplaying games, since I feel I pay better attention to the particulars of anthropomorphic biology and body-language than to humans'. I prefer having a tail and expressive ears, and I dislike being without them. Beyond any superficial reasons like that, I really enjoy the history of the Tajara; class warfare and inequality is fun to play, especially when other species get in on it too. Plus I love the whole, "Oops, your species are terrorists and any one of you could be an anti-human" angle; playing a really gentle, sweet member of a "dangerous terrorist" species can be fun. Being marginalized and distrusted, having to overcome adversity because of what you are not what you do, people thinking you're gross by nature of who you are and the threat you present to "normal" humanity -- it can be fun to play these scenarios in a safe, controlled environment where you know if it goes too far and gets personal, you're still safe. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Aside from the particulars of biology, meaning different body language, clothing needs, and an accent that physically can't be unlearned, Tajarrans are marginalized. People distrust them and the public conception is of a species that has been going through global civil unrest off and on for the past 30ish years. Add to that, NT forbids them from attaining positions in high command, and the fact that until quite recently large portions of the species were illiterate. Plus -- racists! Many humans are anti-xenos. My Tajarran would be raised by Traditionalist parents, and so would use third person speech, as well as a tendency to not speak to authority unless spoken to, and a subservient nature to her superiors. Tajarrans also have a weakness to heat and become too hot quickly, meaning fire is an increased risk. Character Name: "Zi" Zirra'sharr Rurrsiim Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Raised by a M'sai soldier who fought in the first rebellion, and the descendant of exiled nobility who served as a courier in the war, Zirra'sharr is the eldest child of the couple. When she was only around 5 years old, her parents had managed to save up enough money to move off-world; having fought in the war, they could sense trouble brewing again, and the continuing civil unrest made them believe it would be safer to move far, far away. Their occupation after the war was a simple life of helping manage the livestock on Zi's father's family's land, exiled nobility that had proven themselves to be salt-of-the-earth despite mistrust from the locals; it was a modest living, but having fought in the war, NanoTrasen was willing to sponsor their visa and hire them on to work as service workers in the Middle Colonies. But in leaving one troublesome situation, they seemed to leap into another; the couple grew up in pre-human society and were used to being treated as second class, but the challenges anti-xenos sentiment provided, while familiar, were more difficult than imagined. Her mother, Hra'zirra, had been disabled during the war and walked with a limp; her father, Vrrashna, was left with lingering PTSD from his experiences running supplies and messages. Yet both of them clung to the ideals they fought for -- that each being was created equally, that none was naturally superior to any other. They saw this in the human species' ancient ideals, and they admired it. Though they knew many humans were prejudiced and treated xenos unfairly, they truly believed that the ideal of equality was one that won out. Finding this to be untrue in the populous they moved into, they aspired instead to instill that value in their children, and to follow it through in their lives. Hra'zirra saw nothing wrong with regaling her children with tales of glory and honor, describing the sieges on the nobility's cities, the taking of their technology and using it against those who had hoarded it; Zi grew up knowing that her parents fought for her right to be an equal among her own kind. Despite this, Zirra'sharr's upbringing was still very traditional, and she learned to get along with humans the exact way that humans wanted her to. She learned to do what was expected of her, to be obedient to those who considered themselves her better. Her childhood was spent in a human-led school, but her friends were all xenos, Tajarran and Unathi grouped together for safety in numbers; life in the Middle Colonies was comfortable for her and her younger brother, as long as they kept their heads down and avoided large groups of humans. From a young age Zi had an affinity for the kitchen, cooking and baking catching her interest the way some children would catch interest in dinosaurs or airplanes. The specifics, the science of it, was endlessly fascinating; the fact that the basic principles of a recipe could be applied to others of its kind had a pull on her that nothing else could hold a candle to. When she came of age, it seemed only natural to enter culinary school, and at the age of 23 with a major in culinary and a minor in botany, she began an internship, and two years later, she was recommended for a position in the kitchen of the Aurora Station, following her parents into NanoTrasen's employ. What do you like about this character? I'm in love with the Chef class and want to learn how to manage the kitchen better, first of all. Second, I simply prefer playing felines and anthros to playing a human. And third, I love her upbringing, her parents from a war-torn country trying to raise a sweet little girl a million billion miles from their homeland, in a culture they don't quite understand that is strongly biased against them. Being raised by a strict soldier and a gentleman in a prejudiced society is an upbringing I'll have fun trying to understand and play out to a realistic degree. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'm a cocky son of a bitch, so I'll say a 9/10. On sites that have a ranking that goes 1-Liner/Semi-Para/Multi-Para/Advanced, I classify myself as Advanced. I have samples available upon request and am willing to go a few rounds with whoever might need to validate this claim. I'm also planning to write a novel, for what that's worth. Notes: I've asked a couple people for thoughts on this profile, and would love more feedback lore-wise. Expanded life-story can be found here, is very tl;dr.
