  1. It's easy enough to handwave off stuff like "oh the station got bombed" and "oh the carp broke in again" when it happens infrequently but when it's every single round, and we're supposed to act like it's a normal workplace and nothing bad ever happens, yes it's a little difficult for me. I find myself referencing events that happened "last month" and trying to minimize and be vague because there's so much that happens on station that I don't want to make non-canon because it involved heavy RP and developed my character. Piracy exists in Tau Ceti. Carp exist. It had to be canon that at least some of the time these things really happen, or else the game mechanics directly conflict with what is supposed to be canon, and I find it hard to suspend my disbelief about it. It's an entire can of worms that I don't want to derail with so I'll repeat the point I do want to make: It hurts suspension of disbelief to have a bunch of random dangerous garbage strewn around maint with no obvious reason for it to be there IC and in lore.
  2. I think the issue here is that the original sprite colors are very saturated, and you Amory seem to much prefer a desaturated look? A compromise I might suggest is a slightly more saturated palatte but leaning towards pastels rather than the bright primary colors that the current sprites use. I like the rich, vibrant blue and gold that are used but they are very much too primary; a more pastel and carefully shaded but still vibrant blue and gold approach might be nice to see. It's a fine line between "primary ass blue and yellow" and "faded baby blue and yellow" but I think there is a happy medium to be reached. Also I still really like Lancer's suit.
  3. If I may be perfectly honest I feel like the fuzzed out, super pixellated look does not mesh well with the rest of the station. The colors should be clear, crisp, and concise to get a point across. Then again, that's my preference for sprite art in general.
  4. While these look SUPER good, it also looks painful to hold, and there's a little bit of a lack of color. I like colorful PDAs because I'm a child. The IDs however are spot on and perfect.
  5. add buckets. if you have one in hand, it goes there instead of the floor. results in a "dirty bucket" item you must wash. (please do not add a reagent for this.)
  6. When the game mechanics conflict with what is supposed to be canon in the lore I find it harder to suspend my disbelief for the lore of the station ICly. If I get shocked by electropacks in the warehouse or attacked by bats or manhacks; if I find knives and pills and brass knuckles in maintenance every single round; if the station gets swarmed by carp; if I'm told none of that is supposed to be canon just because it's a "game mechanic"; how am I supposed to take anything as canon when the whole *GAME* is *mechanics*? So like, it must be accepted that something has happened to put these items in maintenance ICly and we have IC motivations for going and getting those things, and it must be accepted that OOCly people know that shit's in there and they're gonna go do something about it. If you genuinely want the way people interact with maint to change then the game should probably be changed to reflect the ideal state. What purpose do those items serve in maint for gameplay and what motivation is there for them to be present in lore? There is plenty of IC and OOC motivation for security to go check out the tunnels even if they *didn't* know contraband is in there because it's a dark dingy place with no security cameras. I've worked security before. Routine checks of unmonitored areas are completely within reason.
  7. Yeah, you find a lot of shit in maintenance that makes you wonder what psychopath "loot fairy" was running around the shift before yours. It's just random stuff thrown everywhere and some of it's dangerous. Keep the silly costumes and random stuff you find back there, but please replace the weapons with tools or something more reasonable to locate back there. If you want there to be a weapons cache in maint, it would be cool if it was randomly spawned somewhere, but having knives and pills and shit lying around is a little much.
  8. The way I remember it being, you could click the bag, drag it to a table, and it would begin a timer for dumping all objects onto that tile of table? I would like to see this functionality either return or be added. However I'm fine with having a "dump bag" verb to use instead as long as the intended effect is the same. TY!
  9. The color schemes that exist on station should be preserved, but I would like to see improved options. Lancer's got the right idea.
  10. I had an extended round where Borya's services as Head of Personnel were needed and I feel like he fulfilled the role at about a 5/5 rating. There were interdepartmental issues and he helped try to get a satisfactory resolution, which is all I could really ask for from an HOP. Would complain to formally again.
  11. I remember on one server or another you could dump all bags, including satchels, and that's something I've been really missing in the kitchen using plant bags. I rather dump satchels and bags onto tables, instead of onto the floor I'm standing on. If this only includes backpacks I'd like to request the inclusion of satchels.
  12. If security is black and light blue, I feel that med should be white and light green. Plus it's sensible for a video game to have green be the color of health, unless you went with red. Blue med never made sense to me in the context of the video game that it is, all lore and RP aside. But really I just want some cohesive color coding to the station and uniforms so whatever is chosen will make me happier.
  13. If you remove my ability to hold, cuddle, wear and love mice I will riot IRL.
  14. Since we're showing up and talking openly about the Metaclique, I can say that I was an active participant in the text and voice chat for a time. The question of metacomming aside (something I have contradictory opinions about and don't want to derail with) I do have something to comment on. I will say that there were multiple incidents of PredatoryInstinct (Malcolm Reeves) and Texapingo saying some prettttttyyyy nasty stuff. There was a point where both of them ganged up in voice chat to shout me down. They were joking but it was aggressive alt-right "joking". I left, and I left the discord server, and I informed Thea that they had gone too far and that I was leaving specifically because of them, as I felt she as the owner had control. I'm not sure what happened as a result since I had bounced, but I can say this: I felt safe coming to Thea about it even though I knew she and Pred were close, and RPing romance together and getting married and all that. I felt that she would be able to handle it. I just didn't want to hang out with those people any more, or make it a "me or them" situation for anybody, so I just removed the "me" part. Closing the server was a good choice and owning up to not being there to manage it is pretty cool. I think that the fact of PredatoryInstinct and Texapingo using the server to pretty much do whatever they wanted was a direct result of Shestrying not being there to control them, and due to personal reasons stated above, I don't blame her at all. This is her coming up and saying "let me try taking control now". I think it could be okay, since I'm morally certain that Pred and Tex were the major bad influences there, and everybody else was very, very uncomfortable when they started talking like that - because I was there, and I was uncomfortable, and when I asked my friends who were there too, they were also uncomfortable. Even if it was joking or "all in fun" on those users' part, it was still abusive behavior -- that doesn't reflect on Shestrying, because she just... wasn't there to stop it, and never once participated in it either. I can verify she wasn't there and didn't join in, and I can believe the reasons stated above 100%. Shestrying is cool in my book and someone I would feel confident coming to again were she in a position to help me with server/RP trouble. And a side note, I've always enjoyed playing with her too.
  15. NO LEWDING IPC'S! Anyways if your going rate is anywhere from 20-30 USD I would be interested in buying a piece when you open back up. (If more I'll save up.) These are utterly fantastic. The lines are clean enough you could eat off em.
  16. Your work just keeps getting better and better! Crisp with nice colors. I would like to see people wearing these.
  17. snail man good
  18. Add as a gourmet recipe maybe? I like making steak sandwiches out of the smaller, shittier cutlet so it would be cool to have both.
  19. When I saw this post, I remembered back to the fun rounds we used to have together, and dropped you a line. We chatted, it was cool, until you saw something about me you didn't like. You then proceeded to call names and make accusations. You manufactured an argument about something I like which you do not. You brought up an incorrect and harmful rumor about someone that I am cool with on another website, and then when I explained how the rumor is false and provided the evidence for it, you "skimmed" it and gave a "yeah whatever okay" response. You kept making a pretty specific serious accusation. I told you a couple times that behavior was what got you removed from this server. You continued the argument even after I gave some pretty good reasons to stop such as a lack of your personal experience with the subject matter, and the fact that you were being rude to me. The content of the discussion was NSFW and I tried to make it pretttttyyy clear that I was uncomfortable discussing that kind of thing with a literal 13 year old child, but the accusations and name calling continued and the subject didn't get dropped until I finally said "I don't feel safe because of this" and had to block you. You contacted someone I didn't even know to ask me to unblock you. You are way, way, way too young for this server, dude. Do not unban this guy.
  20. Hey, I'm the guy who straight up demanded this get posted! I've loved this concept since I saw it being used ICly by O'Neil and I've been wanting to see it spread. I want to play a character who follows this religion, so I'm very happy to see the info coming up. Da biggest plus one.
  21. Having mice able to do more things roleplay wise is always a bonus. I see no reason why this shouldn't be added.
  22. +1. While I've only had a small amount of roleplay with Reeves, what little experience I have had was exceptional. Very high quality /me actions from this player the entire time. I would be quite happy to see this player as HOS.
  23. My thoughts on this are, I like the concept but I think the execution thereof could use some fine-tuning. The way I would prefer to see an idea like this is: security HQ and the brig remain untouched. Security stays its own department. HOS has full authority over all officers. They still have a radio channel to communicate on. BUT: Officers are dispatched at roundstart to different departments, by HOS or by job-slot. They start out in the HQ as usual, get geared up, and then deploy to their departments. They will have radios that have both sec and their departmental channel enabled. They'll have a little cubicle to work from but be highly encouraged to patrol the department on foot. There will be two all-purpose officers who patrol the rest of the station and maintenance. HOS retains full authority but department heads have secondary authority, for example if the CMO orders something the officer can run it by the HOS if it sounds questionable, and if the HOS orders something and the CMO tries to belay it, the HOS's order carries priority. I've worked IRL security before and that's a little closer to how things run from my experience. You clock in at the HQ, you go out to your posting, you stay in touch with the bosses on your radio, if someone important to the posting tells you to do something you ask the boss over the radio what they think, etc.
  24. My only real true point of contention here is that I've been strongly, frequently told that things from the modern timeline aren't welcome in the fictional futureverse timeline. If there's still a gender based wage gap among mankind in 400 years, I'll be one pissed off noncorporeal long-dead entity. Rather than have it be on the nose and gender based among everyone, why not try and be more nuanced about which cultures would realistically restrict pay to which members? Unathi would certainly uphold a gender based wage gap, but I get the feeling that humans wouldn't, and probably Tajara would base it more on the whole "stoopid Zhans" thing, etc. So it feels a little bit out of the blue to apply it to all species across the board. Is it intended to be, in lore, a new NT policy for all species? Who put it in place and why? Is it being retconned in to have always been like that? Is this a Tau Ceti thing where the whole of the space is like this? Or is it more of an unspoken thing among NT employees that people are only really going to discover when they start discussing their wages among one another, which never happens, because money is functionally meaningless? Are we gonna get better ways of managing money and having a persistent economy? Because there's no true incentive for departments to sell things and build up their accounts even in the Civ wing. Supply starts with a large account and it's kind of a hassle to get people to pay for their orders, and if mining does their job you have an astronomical amount like 45 minutes into a round. And the chef starts with essentially everything they need to feed the whole crew, buying more ingredients is a pittance and a hassle, and the EFTPOS is a son of a bitch to mess with if you don't have someone to properly set it up for you. So like, I feel anything to do with the money and economics side of the code needs more love first before we start doing stuff like this. However, with a critical eye to how it would be possible to play with this, and with regard to the job selection part of it... I could see it. A Skrell and Human focused research station could realistically favor certain types of person for certain jobs and get away with it. They could easily aggressively negotiate on salaries to pressure certain types to accept low wages during the hiring process. But the previous arguments still stand that gender perception among these cultures needs to be more clearly defined -- are Humans and Skrell sexist as fuck, and if so, why is everyone so polite, etc. Xenophobia seems like a much stronger motivation than sexism in a futuristic setting, to this dumbass. I've been hassled for my species as a feminine Unathi player more than my perceived gender. Most of the sexism I encounter is benign "milady" type stuff when I do see any kind of real reaction to being a grill. The liberal atmosphere of the station may not reflect the policies of the company, which could be an interesting point of contention. A policy like this could be an excuse for traitorous action and revolutionary thinking among characters who fundamentally disagree with that kind of thing... and characters who openly support it, too. So like... an official policy based on gender perception doesn't make a lot of sense, but an unspoken hiring practice where certain types of person are just offerred less money and encouraged to take lower amounts, and not considered for certain types of job as much, just in general? Makes perfect sense for a self-serving, kind of evil corporation.
  25. Ckey/BYOND Username: zyymurgy Position Being Applied For: Deputy Lore Developer, Human (under Pegasus) Past Experiences/Knowledge: 13 years general roleplay experience, 5-6 years Advanced Literate roleplay experience. 2-ish years on Aurora on and off. High degree of interest in planetary biology and how a world's natural history informs the peoples' culture. Numerous long-winded personal projects. Examples of Past Work: Adhomai Domesticated Flora & Fauna Ouerea, A Natural History Of Alterim Balteulis, A Natural History Of Information from these documents has already been accepted and added onto the wiki and in some cases, into the in-game codebase. Additional Comments: My writings are LONG AS FUCK and everyone knows this. However I am very willing to work with an editor to pare down the fluff and get the essential information presented in a concise manner. My very long documents are so that I can very thoroughly explore the ideas, so this information can later be condensed. I also love to be criticized (constructively) so that my ideas can be polished, and I find it to be very fun to share an idea and work together with like-minded people to create a collaborative effort. That is to say, I don't just want it to be my way or the highway, I like to function as part of a team.
