1. Either define what about a robot would give it the ability to access the Aether and give them access to all the magic in the game, or remove the ability to be affected by magic. A thought: some sci-fi settings also include magic, and can include robots that use magic. Usually this requires some kind of spell focus like a crystal or runes inscribed on the chassis. I'd suggest that if magic was kept for synths, it should be with the caveat that it cannot arise naturally in a machine, and has to be imparted through use of a spell focus. That is, a robot shouldn't be able to become something magical without interference from an outside organic party. So if you wanted to make an IPC into a vampire, wizard or cultist, you'd need to make it able to sense magic by use of a spell focus or runes on/in the robot first. Cultists could use a shard to implant it in the robot and make it magically sensitive, wizards could get something similar in their loadout, and vampires could get the ability to draw blood runes on the robot and awaken it, or something. That would also open up the ability for a chaplain to purify the robot as well by removing the shard or runes and doing a ritual maybe. Just my thoughts. I do agree it should make more sense with the internal logic of the game, but I don't want it wholesale removed from IPCs.
2. Very silly execution, but very solid concept. Prisoners have been used for slave labor pretty much since prisons were invented. +1 on having prisoners do something, but -1 on it being bitcoins.
3. Good idea for a patch-fix to put in place while a bigger rework is in motion. At least it's a better idea than removing it completely IMO.
4. Pretty good app overall, but I do have some critique. First, the name. "Smograks" does not match with the naming conventions perfectly. I would suggest changing it to something without any "closed mouth" sounds, like b, p, m, etc. They don't have lips, so those sounds tend to not be found as often. The "mm" sound doesn't seem to be popular in the naming conventions as I've seen so far on station or in wiki. So, I suggest changing it to have a more "open mouth" sort of sound. However... very minor complaint, not important at all. Second, something a little more relevant. His backstory seems a little big disjointed to me. Namely, his fascination with mechanics. An isolated child who is homeschooled is going to NEED hobbies. I would say that it would be a good idea to include his mechanical fascination in his childhood, rather than in his later life. That gives him more time to develop his skills, gives him a hobby to keep him sane, and provides him with an opportunity for a job later in life. You could do something like, he starts taking apart household electronics, then his dad lets him tinker with the family car, and encourages him to learn mechanics from books and manuals, which then helps him get a job once his father has to let him go, and then goes to Uni for mechanics and engineering. To me that would make more sense than an adult Unathi who has been sheltered all his life suddenly being great with machines and mechanics. I say all this from the perspective of someone who was raised isolated, who dates someone who was homeschooled his whole life, and whose father was an engineer for an aeronautics company. Having no friends gives you a LOT of free time; being raised homeschooled if you don't have a hobby you will LOSE YOUR MIND; and becoming a mechanic/engineer requires a bit more than just realizing you like to tinker with cogs and windmills. Otherwise, good app, I give it an overall +1.
5. I only mapped for a brief period of time while working on FO13. However, from a beginner's perspective, I can offer some insight. It's bullshit. There's a huge database of items that you have to search through if you want to put something down that isn't already on the map. However, fortunately you can copy/paste from different parts of the map. Unfortunately, if you're making a new department with stuff that isn't on map yet, you're gonna be spending a lot of time looking through the archive for what you want. Second... the controls are ass. I dunno how else to put it. You will have a learning curve while getting used to the controls in Dream Maker. They are unlike anything I've worked with before, personally. Third... It's rewarding. You feel like a god. When you make a good map and everyone loves it, it makes the hassle worthwhile. But it's a fuckin' hassle. There is no guide, you just have to apprentice to someone who already makes maps and ask them to show you their secrets. Fourth... it's something you have to approach from a game designer's perspective. You have to actually think about things like player desire, OOC goals, and how to make those two things work together. Making a good map is *hard*. Good luck!
6. I greatly enjoyed having my fortune read one round even though I couldn't stay to discuss it. Big +1 as long as the thought is put into renaming all the cards.
7. Weeeeird, I've only blocked a couple people. :0
8. Thank god. I'm kind of tired of the whole "prey dies in your stomach" aspect of eating whole, live chickens. And then feeling 'less full' as you digest it. I don't need to know those kinds of things about the food I'm eating.
9. If you're serious about free spritejobs I am literally dying IRL for more good dresses for women, especially xeno women. What I mean by that is there's no "exotic" clothing for the Taj and Unathi on station. We have a couple pieces of xenowear, but nothing that really seems, to me, like alien everyday wear. I know Taj tend to wear heavy wool so it would be nice to see something nice and woollen like this. And as for Unathi ethnic wear, it would be nice to see some different styles of robes, from togas to monk-like wrappers to more ornate kimono style robes, etc. In addition to that, I've been wanting some good saris and sarongs in the game, because I like them and they're fancy. Something like this would be nice to have on station, to match with the hijabs we already have. (We could also use fancier hijabs.) In addition, the existing dresses we do have don't look great, and the ones that do look nice only come in one color. It would be nice to have a couple different color variations on the 'yellow dress' item, a couple more good-looking color variations of the 'red cheongsam' (the red variant looks good, while the other colors do not), and a couple sundresses that are just plain black or white. I'd also love to see some complete artistic freedom in designing some new dresses, if you like. Here's some fun outfit designs that are halfway between fantasy and alien culture (in my opinion). I'd wear the purple ones on-station out of this set. This has been my dream, my holy quest. Catch me @Ziy#5598 on Discord.
10. Right now I see a lot of people misguided about a couple things, namely the types of Unathi women they expect to see, and the misconception that Unathi are homophobic. These are things I'd like to correct through wiki edits, ooc comments, and IC play if elected; right now I can only summon Senpai's authority with regard to that. I don't want to minimod but I'd also like to be able to clear that up, as I've discussed it thoroughly with JB. In addition, the work I'd be doing on Moghes and Ouerea would include some things like culture, and pop culture, that Unathi could reference in-game, which I at the very least would plan on doing, and I know others who read the wiki would be into it. Basically more fables, more TV show brief descriptions, maybe a list of books and brief summaries for their influential fiction. Stuff like this is lacking right now in most Xeno lore, and it would be fun to have some esoteric stuff for Unathi to discuss and confuse/delight humans with. Ideally it would be vague descriptions and lists that give players a good jumping off point to say something either funny or deep about each. I've already asked and prompted Senpai to come up with some stuff like this. But further, the lizard lore I have been working on, I have been implementing with my newer Unathi charactrers. It involves an ethnic group of Unathi who have specific beliefs and rituals, which make them noticeably different among other Unathi. I've been playing characters like this, and Senpai has seen the lore I've been working on for it, so I'd ideally open this lore up to others making similar characters. If something like this appeals for Unathi, I'd be interesting in making more ethnic Unathi cultures later on too, trying to show a diversity among the alien species so it doesn't feel quite so Star Trek, 1 Species 1 Planet, style. As for Ouerea I consider it a mostly ignored space in the lore. I would ideally like to develop its inner workings and tensions more with Senpai's help, as right now the relationship between the frontier's settlers and the capitol are unwritten, as well as the relationship with the xenos on the planet. I've done major writing for Ouerea which has seen minor additions to the wiki, and I'd like to open it up for other Ouerean players to have some baseline information about the cities and what their hometown could possibly be like. And I'd ideally like to see some canon lore tension between the settled colony and its homeworld, as the Izweskis have just come in and taken it as I recall. Something like that would be interesting to work on and could possibly effect things on station as either a possible Ouerean liberation is had, or the Izweskis crack down and become a more hated figure for Ouereans. People who keep up with IG news would have reason to alter their character's perceptions of other Unathi on station. I'm not sure if any of this is too ambitious or not suited for a lore deputy, so all I've got to say in closing, is that I have a lot of stuff I want to be able to bring to Jackboot with a tiny bit more authority than I have right now, and I'm more than willing to take assignments from him too. I've already been bringing stuff to him, and then been showing on station to general approval. So I feel like I've got a good start on some work that having lore deputy status would help me develop further, to possibly open up to more players on station with approval. That's how I'd like to affect the station, I guess. People can easily ignore new lore they dislike, but I personally would be bringing it on station. With others having the opportunity, I'd like to see them take it -- but I'd also understand if it was disliked, which is why a lot of what I just mentioned is either yet to be written or being worked on now in secret, for Senpai's eyes only.
11. +1, face-to-face chairs is better for buddies to chill and for food delivery convenience. I approve. Plus I like the wide shutter, less fussing with 1 tile wide entries. My untrained eye likes it.
12. Ckey/BYOND Username: zyymurgy Position Being Applied For: Deputy Lore developer Past Experiences/Knowledge: I have over 15 years experience with RP and the same amount of experience creating and writing about original species and planets. I enjoy Thinking Deeply about things like ecology, ancient history, and the different components of culture and their evolution -- all things I hope to bring to the table as Unathi Lore Deputy. I've already spent time discussing things like this with Jackboot, and my intention as Lore Deputy is to be able to continue these discussions and make some canon lore. Examples of Past Work: I wrote a very large document for Ouerea, parts of which Jackboot has already made canon, here. Preferred Mode of Communication: Discord, Ziy#5598 Additional Comments: If elected I plan some work on the natural history of Moghes, before the wars, including more animals and fauna and describing their place in the ecosystem and Unathi culture. Also working on the existing animals known, including writing wiki entries for Moghean beasts that can be seen in the code but have no wiki entries yet (those giant lizard beasts, Stoks, etc??). I also plan on revealing some lizard lore I've been working on for JB's approval for canonization. In addition, there are a couple concepts on the Unathi wiki that could use some minor clarification, such as the Unathi stance on same-sex relationships (mainly how they don't recognize same-gender attraction as being different) and the limited types of Unathi women that would realistically be seen on station (masculine or barren freewomen and guwans or Ouerean liberals). All this, of course, with Senpai's direct intervention on the finished product. Jackboot likes an overview and politics. I plan on being his deputy to flesh out the parts that he doesn't like or have patience for. And I have the time and dedication to write over 20 pages about a topic on a whim. I hope you will consider me for the position. (Harsh criticism accepted.)
13. Major +1 here from me. This user is a delight to RP with and I have enjoyed seeing them as both HARPI and Wynter. The ability to organize and put together a book of poetry from the crew shows dedication to a role as well; that requires effort above and beyond the regular level of care put into RP aboard the Aurora. This app in specific is a very interesting one, and it is clear to me that it was written with the wiki open in another window right next to it. The actions and consequences are pretty close to what I'd expect from an Unathi who discovers she is repulsed by the idea of marrying a man. I just want to chime in here that I've had discussions with Jackboot that have given me a bit of perspective on how Unathi see same sex relationships. They don't. They don't SEE the same-sex element. They see the "impossible to produce children" element. If a woman loves another woman, or has lustful feelings for another woman, this isn't considered abnormal. The only considerations Unathi put into relationships are Love, Lust, and Duty, and the Duty is to reproduce. And some religions feel that it is possible to still live a life that pleases the ancestors while loving someone the same sex as you are -- as long as you are not under any obligation to fulfill your Duty to your clan. So this would include barren women, second children of a clan who already has heirs, and the like. This means that since she is Guwan, she is now free to love as she likes, because she no longer has a Duty to be wed and continue her clan's line, as long as her partner will accept her as a Guwan. That will be her major hurdle in life; she should not have to expect homophobia from her kin, because homophobia is something the Unathi do not know. They know only the rigid adherence to Duty. So it makes sense that OP's character would be exiled and made Guwan by her clan -- she actively bucked her duty and attempted to get another woman to do the same. Women are expected to submit to their men, and so being disobedient and running from Duty would be a great dishonor on her whole clan, and so she was also attempting to dishonor her love interest as well. This all adds up to a realistic exile as Guwan. Unathi who shun her should be shunning her based on her disrespect for her Clan and her duty, not because she did it all for a woman. For Unathi it would be the exact same thing if she was trying to run away with another man. I want Senpai Jackboot to weigh in here, but this is what I understood from our conversations about it. I too play Unathi women who are not attracted to men in the Love or Lust spheres, so I've interrogated him aggressively about how this character would navigate her feelings, and I felt this information would be useful to OP as well, relevant to some posts earlier in the thread RE: homophobia, and shed light on my hearty +1 for a lesbian guwan. It is absolutely not out of the ordinary or snowflakey, simply a new and unique character we have not seen on station before, that complies with lore and shows an understanding thereof.
14. It needs rows of chairs that face each other so that we can clique up with our round-buddies and LOOC agree to make the friendship canon on the ride home. Plus I always bring snacks to the shuttle when I'm chef and it's harder to distribute them in the new shuttle because it's hard to see the characters in the chairs. People like to look at their own sprites, especially me because I am a narcissist, and it's harder to click on a sprite hidden behind a chair so... REEvert or REEdesign?
15. While we're at it, a color-picker for a couple more things would be nice. Hijabs, scarves, and dress flats could use it.

17. +1. As chef it's my first fear response to close the shutter and get under the tables... and I can only close the shutter. Plus, the possibility for antags to have more in-plain-sight hiding places is pretty intimidating and cool.
18. I cried bitterly onto ParadoxSpace's shoulder and he graciously offered to fix it and make a PR, but I dunno what that explicitly means.
19. Thanks for the +1 and the kind words! I was hoping this app would come out better. Yeah, 'the girl' mentioned in the story is my other character, Nisreen Ziaja. I left her mostly nameless in the text of the story because I wanted to focus on Celes, with her owner being a fully supporting character. Plus that's how Celes tends to think of her owner as well, as "my girl". I'll give it a brief edit for clarity though.
20. BYOND Key: zyymurgy Character Names: . . Species you are applying to play: IPC, Shell What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: IPCs are interesting. As a Shell IPC, one is similar to humans in appearance, but mannerisms and mode of expression are completely different. I prefer playing nonhumans like this, however most of the xeno species have complex lore that can be difficult to stay true to in the heat of RP. IPCs seem to be about halfway between xeno and human in terms of complexity; they do have specific behaviors but don’t have anything too complex. It would be nice to be able to play a more laid-back type of nonhuman without having to double-check the wiki every time I talk. They don't have a long history to refer back to, or any cultural traditions, or species-specific ways of talking. This makes them an appealing nonhuman to play for more relaxed RP. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs are nonhuman humanoids. Their ‘brains’ work differently at a fundamental level. Their thought processes are not similar to that of organics. They value or prioritize things differently than a human would. Their decisions rely on logic and programming, not on emotions. So in a burning building, a human might prioritize the rescue of their pets and children and evacuation of sentimental keepsakes, while an IPC may prioritize securing the important paperwork in the safe, calling the fire department, and extinguishing what flames they can. Their interactions with organics are also quite different than organic-to-organic interactions. Their statements may make organics uncomfortable as they do not have the inherent taboos that some species do -- such as inquiring directly about illnesses, how much money someone makes, recent deaths in the family, et cetera. Unless programmed properly, synths can be quite uncouth. Many people have an instinctive ‘uncanny valley’ reaction to humanoid synths as well, and can find Shell IPCs disturbing to behold or interact with. Emulated emotions are also only approximations and can sometimes lead to inappropriate responses. Cutting edge synths and newly made synths will typically experience bugs and gaps in their databases as well. The type of synth I plan to model this character on is like a more humanoid version of the Yes Man robot from Fallout New Vegas, to a less extreme degree but with the same type of situation-inappropriate cheer and vigor. Character Name: Celes Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Celes is an IPC that began as a VI, designed to serve as the nanny, maid and companion for a girl whose rich parents had very little time for her, named Nisreen Ziaja. She 'grew up' alongside the child, being upgraded as time passed. The girl was homeschooled and as a result was quite lonely throughout her life; she became exceptionally attached to Celes, and became uncommonly close with the synth. When the girl began to grow up and express interest in science, the first thing she turned to was robotics. Celes was her subject of great interest and deep study. Her parents hired another tutor to help her with her special interest, and soon she was experimenting on Celes. When she begged her parents to let her buy and install new modules and features for Celes, they allowed her, and Celes gradually grew more complex. When her charge entered college, she was gifted Celes' full ownership rights, and with her large allowance, she bought her companion a state-of-the-art posibrain and emotion emulator, and fully upgraded the IPC. Celes was able to retain her memories from her previous iterations, and these memories were used to help form the core of her posibrain and emotional programming. While her girl continued her studies in robotics, Celes explored the features her new mind provided, and enjoyed the freedom her owner allowed her. However, she was accosted more than once while walking alone, and had to learn to be careful; as a synth, she wasn’t always among friends. Even when together with her owner, she wasn’t safe, and they had been harassed before when going out. Celes quickly learned to be careful; with her programming, she could never harm a human even in self defense. After an incident with one of her owner’s friends, where they had a seizure and Celes had to assist in taking care of her after, Celes discovered her previous forms’ utilons for caregiving had activated. It had made her feel fulfilled in the same way that caring for her girl as a child had given her, a sense of fulfillment that had been lacking since her girl had reached adulthood and become less reliant on her. Her programming had been driving her to care for something that was helpless and relied on her, and just taking care of the girl’s cat didn’t work. She had felt the unfulfilled drive in her programming acutely as a hole in her ‘heart’, a sense of missing purpose that constantly nagged at her with no way to figure out what she really needed. Over the years it had begun to make her think she might be malfunctioning, though all diagnostics were normal. Helping the girl who had a seizure, who had been helpless, gave her that warm sense of purpose fulfilled, and she became fixated on trying to find that feeling again. But she was at a loss as to how to really do anything about it, and she kept it to herself not wanting her owner to worry. Things really clicked for the IPC when her owner became badly sick; she had to spend a night in the hospital for walking pneumonia, and her recovery at home took a couple weeks. Her owner needed Celes to wait on her hand and foot again like she was a baby, and Celes felt it ‘click’ inside of her, logically deducing as that artificially warm, emulated feeling flooded through her posibrain’s circuits again. It was taking care of somebody sick, somebody that needed her to do everything for them, somebody that needed her to save them; that’s what Celes was missing. After her owner threw off the sickness and got better, Celes became more interested in medical services and soon began looking into the process for a synth to become involved in medicine. After her owner allowed her to try a brief stint volunteering in an old folks’ home as a companion synth, which was close but not quite enough, she became convinced that a medical career would give her that fulfillment. At first her owner was upset, but as Celes promised to always be her best friend, the young woman relaxed, and relented. If Celes needed this to be happy, whether that happiness was artificial or not, her owner would let her do what she needed. Celes completed installing and executing the EMT training course in parts over a week of tests ranging from simple simulations to supervised live-action operations. At the end Celes was certified with a 99.5% success and accuracy rate, and her owner Nisreen was given the credentials needed to lease her IPC out to any medical facility that would accept them. Within a couple months, Nisreen came to Celes with a pamphlet she had seen while on campus. It was for a company called NT, and it offered positions on a space station for just about every major that the campus taught. What’s more, the small print on the back said they took xenos and synthetics as well. Her owner could become a roboticist on a station, while she leased Celes to the company at the same time for their medbay, and therefore they could still live and even work together! The two prepared for the application process, and Nisreen called on her father to use his contacts and help her out with NT. After a few tense months, her owner was called in for an interview. After a tense half hour, her owner came out, and told Celes she had been accepted into NT’s program to finish her robotics degree and begin an internship aboard their research vessel, the NSS Aurora. The two celebrated, and began preparations for their new lives, working in space. What do you like about this character? I don't usually play humanoids, but I am fond of synthetics. I like the thought of a cheerful, peppy android who's in the midst of a chaotic scene, covered in blood and not losing her upbeat attitude. I also enjoy thinking of potential situations where her cheerful manner is not exactly welcome, especially tense operating rooms or when talking with the patient's coworkers or friends and having to give them bad news. I especially like the thought of her unflagging smile even when confronted with a mangled dead body. Playing a synth with inhuman thoughts and simulated emotions who's always got a smile on her face no matter what is compelling to me. I also have always liked the ‘robotic caretaker’ trope where a synth is programmed to take care of patients perhaps a little bit too efficiently, where their bedside manner can suffer as a result. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8.5/10, high but I try not to be full of myself. Notes: Girls just wanna have fun. This character has been reworked since my last application, which was denied. I hope this rework makes it more acceptable, and if not, I'd really appreciate help working this concept out as something that will work on Aurora. I know the app is long, but I have a much longer profile document I’ve been working on as well. I just hope that shows I’ve put a lot of deep thought into this character. Extreme tl;dr Robot was initially made to care for a helpless child, robot upgraded from VI to AI to IPC over 18 years. Girl grows up and is not helpless, is given IPC’s ownership rights as gift, goes to college to study robots, IPC suffers from her purpose being unfulfilled. IPC discovers medical care makes her feel like she's fulfilling that purpose, adult owner purchases programming kit for medical IPC and uses it on her IPC, adult owner and her IPC both join NT.
21. Ah, I see. I wasn't sure, this was my only guess for where to post something like this. If it's not possible to be added at this time, I'd hope that perhaps in the future it can be considered.
22. BYOND Key: zyymurgy Character name: Azsi Akeelanii Item name: Full body markings, 'Goanna' or simply 'Spots' Why is your character carrying said item to work? It's part of her skin. Item function(s): More character customization and options for Unathi with full body markings. Now we'll have both spots and stripes available. Item description: It's a new option on the Unathi loadout screen for markings that resemble a Sand Goanna. Item appearance: How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? I'll be able to more accurately simulate my character design, and other players will be able to use a spotted design as well. Additional comments: I had DatBerry make this for me, so questions can be directed there too? Essentially I wanted a type of body-markings that were similar to the natural coloration of a Sand Goanna. I was intending for this to be recolorable and available to all players. Brain Slugs

I've always been a fan of mind-control slugs, so adding Not-Yeerks would be pretty sweet. Definite plus one. I can see the slug trying to proliferate itself sneakily being some good RP opportunity, with the host being influenced to get someone alone with them and both the slug and host having to work together to figure out how to do it, or the host fighting them the whole way. One thing I do wonder about is the Host versus Slug internal battle. Would the Slug be able to assume direct control and have their commands result in direct action? Or would the Slug have to subtly coerce the Host into meeting their demands? If the Slug was trying to play quietly and also reproduce and help their offspring get into another crewmember's ear in a secluded place, and they were trying to coerce the Host to do so, but not wanting to tip their hand, and the Host is a player who is OOC not inclined to follow the slug's directions because they know OOC they've been infested... I have to wonder how something like that would play out.
24. +1, honestly surprised this isn't a feature in game already given the specified differences between chassis on the wiki.
