DronzTheWolf Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Let's be honest, disarm spam is useful. But it's also really, really overused. Disarm spam, from a mechanical perspective, is overused and near impossible to counter. It's a miracle cure-all like pre-nerf tricord. Plus it's stupid from an RP perspective, just constantly batting at someone's weapon or trying to shove them down while they're trying to batter/kill you. It's like doing that chest shove to start a fight, in the middle of a fight. I suggest we put a delay on disarm, it doesn't have to be very long, maybe a half a second or a fourth of a second, just something to make it a bit less useful and more of a maneuver for when you already have the upper hand.
Doxxmedearly Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Yeah I'm not very robust when it comes to combat but disarm is kind of awful right now. It's like there's no point to having a melee weapon, unless there's something I'm missing here. I'm not sure if this is the proper fix but it seems like a good enough start to me.
tbear13 Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 I would love to see this implemented. Disarm spam is annoying, it ruins melee weapons, since they can just be turned against you with a single click.
MO_oNyMan Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 uhh, from the IC perspective trying to control the opponents weapon in the scuffle of a fight (which disarm basically is) is not something surreal that never happens. In fact most fights do that. While disarm runing melee weapon advantage is a sort of a problem i think putting a cooldown on it is not the best way to fix this. I would instead suggest giving the weapon holder a percent chance of getting in a free hit on a person that tries to disarm them (much like firearms are right now). So that having a weapon gave you a distinct advantage in a fight while also not always guaranteeing victory
DronzTheWolf Posted June 10, 2018 Author Posted June 10, 2018 uhh, from the IC perspective trying to control the opponents weapon in the scuffle of a fight (which disarm basically is) is not something surreal that never happens. The problem is that you won't just keep trying and keep trying after they've started actually hitting you. It's like trying to grab a baseball bat mid-swing at that point, you're just going to break your hands or arms.
MO_oNyMan Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 You stop trying after they've started hitting you because you get hit badly. Autohit with a manual hit would indeed hit you badly
DronzTheWolf Posted June 11, 2018 Author Posted June 11, 2018 You stop trying after they've started hitting you because you get hit badly. The problem is that disarm still has shove. It'd be, without whatever modifiers are involved: 1/3 disarm 1/3 autohit 1/3 shove/knockdown
