Guest
BYOND Key: OneOneThreeEight Character Names: Vira De Santos, Talia Varick, Dima Ruslanovich, Hardin Stryker, etc... How long have you been playing on Aurora: 4-5 months. Species you are applying to play: Skrell. What color do you plan on making your first alien character : Orange Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I've read it, however I'm also assisting in reworking and fleshing it out a bit. I'll have to bear with it until we can fix it. u_u Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Warble warble. Anyway, I've seen a lot of potential in the Skrell race. They aren't specifically limited in terms of character archetypes, they aren't particularly disadvantaged in terms of how the known galaxy views them, and in general, the Skrell can show more or less emotion in some circumstances. In one of the major cultural pillars I'm currently developing, logic and thought are prized virtues. In another pillar, showing emotion and faith for what you believe in is the most important. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Besides overall history and occasional vocal mannerisms, not very much. They tend to adopt patterns more easily than the other races and enjoy the vibrance that is their own appropriated culture. And the occasional schlurr or two. But I plan on writing this as a 'not applicable to every Skrell' kind of deal. You don't have to be Sean Connery if you don't want to. Why does this species in particular hold your interest? There's a lot of room for character development and drafting. Much less limitations in terms of potential backstories. They're not just spacefrogs. They're something with more... depth. Or at least, the potential to have more depth. Character Name: Singh Jarol Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Singh Jarol is one of many in a long line of warriors and soldiers of the Qerrbalaki Confederacy, her heritage dating back to his ancestor serving under the great Rinoi Laush, who led fragments of the Skrellian city-states against the tyranny of the Eridish Regime in 1782. Disinterested with the idea of waging war upon the Confederacy's enemies and rather than undergo officer's training after basic training, Jarol took on the path of being outsourced to security agencies around the systems known by the Sol Alliance. Eventually, her natural talent for maintaining the peace was unrivaled by her own peers. Singh is a very calm and calculating individual. She strives to improve upon her developed ability to predict a potential outcome and react accordingly to it. She almost always attempts to negotiate before moving for the takedown. Her abilities in combat are satisfactory, but her potential comes from her skill in diplomacy rather than outright robustness. ((Backstory is subject to change with lore developing u_u.)) What do you like about this character? I like playing passive characters as much as aggressive characters, honestly. If you've seen me play Dima, for example, you've seen that I tend to play him as straying away from the frontlines and attempting to help people away on the side/backlines. That's a bit how I think I'll RP Singh, but with a little more hands-on activity when negotiating with would-be or already-criminals. You won't likely see me lasering chucklefuck sec officers to death, though... How would you rate your role-playing ability? Can I just say that I don't like this question? I think it's more up to the community themselves to rate how a person roleplays. Anyway, to answer it, 7/10, 11/10 with rice. Notes: warble warble Link to comment
Conspire2Ignite
I like Skrell. I like Delta's roleplaying. If we follow logic, I like Delta roleplaying a Skrell. Also, Singh is a good name. Reminds of Khan Noonien Singh. +1 Link to comment
Eliot Clef
+1 Good people, good characters. Every reason to believe that this character will be pretty great, too. Link to comment
Jennalele
I definitely like this. I have a lot of positive experiences with Boss, from our complete and hilarious inability to blow up a bomb, doing nuke ops dream teams, or whatever. He's a great RPer that can definitely add to our unfortunately lacking Skrell population. You have my +1. Link to comment
Valkrae
Delta wants a squishy? DELTA GETS A SQUISHY. +1 Link to comment
Guest
I like Skrell. I like Delta's roleplaying. If we follow logic, I like Delta roleplaying a Skrell. That's a logical flaw. You neglected to mention you like all of Delta's roleplaying. Jokes aside, a lot of people (including me) seem to have an issue with 1138's powergaming, so this: Singh is a very calm and calculating individual. She strives to improve upon her developed ability to predict a potential outcome and react accordingly to it. She almost always attempts to negotiate before moving for the takedown. Her abilities in combat are satisfactory, but her potential comes from her skill in diplomacy rather than outright robustness. Could be an issue. I have great confidence in their roleplaying, but I have to take that with a pinch of salt. Considering this is in no spacific way tied to the actual skrell app, it should not be taken as a reason to deny it. We like you and all that, but security very rarely needs an overcompetant security officer. +1, would still welcome another skrell to security. Link to comment
