Butterrobber202
BYOND Key: Butterrobber202Character Names: Spoiler Species you are applying to play: SkrellWhat color do you plan on making your first alien character: Blackish BlueHave you read our lore section's page on this species?: YesPlease provide well-articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Skrell are a unique race in the Lore because they have a sense of timelessness about them. They have existed longer than the Humans have in space, and their history is viewed very differently. Something that happened 200 years ago for a Human is at least 4 or 5 generations past, for a Skrell? That can all occur within a single generation. Their society has a unique take on success as well, the government sponsoring successful Skrell that make the Federation look better. Success means a higher standard of living, provided by the government, as long as you continue to yield results and support your sponsor. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: In the most relevant sense, your lifespan as a Skrell changes a lot. Humans have roughly 100 years or so before they give out, Skrell have more than double that, meaning they have more time to dedicate to a singular purpose or many. A Skrell on the Station may just consider his 80-year employment with NT to be a stepping stone to something better. Character Name: Jaer WiqlieerPlease provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Spoiler Jaer watched, unnerved, as the incision management system cleanly opened a surgical site on the patient’s skin. Jaer warbled, “Scalpel.” and was handed a laser scalpel, the blue edge removed the remaining skin, cutting it and sealing it in the same movement. “Make sure it stays open,” Jaer said to his aid, then prepared an Implant Modification Device. He waited until his aid moved, then placed the device above the hearing implant, firing microscopic nanites into the machine. After firing what nanites he believed needed, he hit a button on the device, enabling the machines, they swarmed about repairing the damage. Jaer cleaned the site, then sealed it seamlessly back together with the help of a bioseal cautery. “It’s done, take him out of the Srom slowly, the sedatives have a stronger effect on old Skrell.” Jaer then stripped his gloves off, trashing them and walked inside the post-op room. Barely stopping to see the old wrinkled skrell be floated out of the room. Jaer was greeted by another aid, who handed him a holo-tablet with the report pulled up. Spoiler Wigpbesh Uingis’Qyu was a 503-year-old Skrell, nearing the end of his long life. Today he underwent Surgery by Doctor Jaer Wiqlieer to repair an older model audio implant, located in the ear lobe. The device had broken down due to erosion by bodily fluids and had started to cause harm to the ear itself. By applying nano-machines to the implant, they would correct the warped design and see it updated to the newest model possible. Jaer returned the tablet to the aid, nodding his way out the door. He was a 43-year-old Skrell from an average home, that beat his way past the other Skrell at the Aliose University, and graduated in the top 10, specifically number 4. After that, he had joined the staff of a hospital in Gli’morr, a dark underwater city that was lacking trained surgeons at the time. And here he was, 10 years later, now their main surgeon. Jaer donned his coat and returned his headwraps to their proper position, wasn’t safe to wear them during an operation, and started to head for the door. Right before he made it out of the lobby, an unfamiliar Skrell, in business attire, stopped him. “Greetings Doctor Wiqlieer, I’m Gligvsh Kasvoshu-Nanuvs, 92, Nanotrasen Skrell Resources Chief Officer. I have a business proposition for you. Where do you like to eat?” The Light Blue Skrell took and shook Jaer’s hand, then walked him out the door. “Before I accept your offer, I want to know a few things.” Jaer warbled out quickly, as he was wooshed along by this seemingly energetic skrell. Gligvsh looked at him, expression amused, signaling him to go on. “Are you here to recruit me, and where are you from?” Jaer liked to have his facts straight, the intentions of others known, and what in the stars he was getting into. This fellow was obviously from out of town, considering his color. Most of the residents of Gli’morr had darkened hues of skin, due to the light and local food. Jaer’s own color use to be a bright blue, but now was an inky cerulean. “Oh, straight to the point then I see. Well, yes, obviously, but I’d rather work on the details over a nice bowl of whatever they cook around here, and I’m from Kal’lo by birth, the stars by time. Half my life is probably gonna be spent on a shuttle or station or whatnot. In any case, where is the good local stuff, hmm?” And so they went. Jaer pointed out a small food joint that served the upper class and provided a semi-private atmosphere. After they found their places, Gligvsh dove in, wasting no time in his explanation. “You have a stellar record and good credits. You are still young enough to consider taking a serious job outside of the Federation, plus it will make for good experiences with other species. Not to me- Oh thank you.” Gligvsh took the time given by their food’s arrival to inhale. Jaer, listening intently, was running over the what he would gain from the employment, and what he would lose. Jaer liked his algae in a row, plus, living in a Xeno-Controlled System would present its own set of problems. But, Jaer decided to hear the rest of the proposition before commenting. “Like I was saying, not to mention the financial gain.” Gligvsh handed over a small tablet with a significant figure on it. “NT tends to pay their valued Skrell employees well.” Jaer ran the calculations in his head, discovering, for all the assets he’d lose in the short term, this sum of money would double his savings and be capable of propelling him much further than a simple city surgeon. “I believe we have a contract to sign then,” Jaer said. 1 What do you like about this character? He is a thinker, one of the main issues I had with the app is, I wasn’t sure how to make a quiet thinker interesting, so I just did my best. I want to play this character like an observer in most cases, and then have him reflect on what happened in the Srom or by himself. Most of my characters are proactive fighters that pack a punch. I wanted to try out a scholarly fellow for once, and I think I’ve designed myself an enjoyable character. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10, I make spelling mistakes a lot, and sometimes just conk out of my character’s mindset when I’m not paying attention.Notes: where my glorsh 2 at? GreenBoi
-1 for even suggesting a Glorsh II: Electric Boogalo I've seen Butter do their thing. They has some ups and downs, they sometimes acts out of his character's mindset, but we're only squidfrogs humans so of course those messups can happen a few times. There's effort put into this app, and there's effort put into the backstory. If Butter was good enough to get a Vaurca whitelist (which I find to be the hardest), I think they'll be good enough to get a Skrell whitelist too. +1 Link to comment
SleepyWolf
I absolutely know you can roleplay this species very well, and this application is very good at incorporating lore into a functional story. Application accepted! If you want to join the Skrell discord server and contribute to frequent discussions on lore/learn about skrell memes, here's that. https://discord.gg/cM2HP5z Link to comment
