Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 (edited) So i cant be a cook after being hop? I wanna play my char but theres only hop 1 slot and a lot of competition for it. the root of the issue i think youll agree is these noncommand demanding or expecting the same level of respect as heads Edited September 8, 2019 by Marlon Phoenix
IAmCrystalClear Posted September 9, 2019 Author Posted September 9, 2019 It's also really frustrating for other people who want the roles but can't play as head when there's three heads on in the same department. It's up to random chance at that point, but there's still more slots open to those with the whitelist than those without. Especially in security, where a Head of Security can arguably fill every other role in the department without anyone batting an eye. There's been a lot of opinions, and I concede the realism point. There's still issues with demanding respect and with jobhopping, however.
Sytic Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 Demanding respect is a matter of personal IC issue. If a potential boss isn't your boss for that shift, treat him as a coworker rather than a boss in terms of what you actually have to give them in terms of respect. So just give them some general same respect. Jobhopping is rarely an issue until it starts to breach realism, and when we have bleedover between roles, it starts to get difficult to discern. If someone's demanding respect as noncommand, they should have a stern talking to about authority figures.
Alberyk Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 This should be a policy suggestion. In my opinion, it would be far better if heads of staff just played their character as head of staff or visitors. But, I guess since everyone is that invested in their character, it is better now to just let thing as they are. Voting for dismissal.
Flamingo Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 While I agree that the "most realistic" version would be heads of staff playing either their role or visitor, I think that allowing them to play a lesser role within their respective department is fine for the sake of letting people play the characters they enjoy. Furthermore, we already allow characters to fill multiple jobs in certain cases, as long as it's done believably with overlapping knowledge and such, so I don't see too much of an issue with this. Voting for dismissal.
