[Denied] command whitelist application

Recommended Posts

BYOND key: Chaos marine_1123
Character names: R.A.S.C.A.L, John saikavand, korosh clockheart

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I’m not sure, more than a  2 weeks at least.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: So I can enjoy playing the role I play on other servers.

Why did you come to Aurora?: I moved here from MRP servers so I could enjoy a more HRP playstyle. A friend also recommended this server to me.

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes I have. I read HOP wiki and I wish to play the role.

Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I once got a warning for hiding in a locker instead of leaving the round, and one PM for a roleplay mistake I made on my first day playing on aurora.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: I really can’t put a finger on it, but I generally think it’s about making a world and having fun with that world via interactions with other players.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: As a head your job is to manage in-game but OOC you kinda do the same thing. You also try to improve gameplay and act like an ingame admin to ensure things go smoothly, giving out fun objectives and stuff like that.
What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: As a whitelisted player you’re kinda like a player representative: people would look up to you ICly as well, since command personnel are in charge of the station. I have a feeling I should be a good player and have fun, while also making others have fun and thus become a good rep.

Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Well John used to work in the frontier in a private ship, so he doesn’t really care. However it’s a system near Sol which acts like NT’s main command area, and is under the eyes of the Republic of Biesel.

What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Mostly head of personnel since I am an HOP main and play hop on servers that I enjoy like urist MC station (Urist has a Second Officer job which is like an alt title for HOP.)
Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking. : korosh clockheart, a 40-year old human who used to work in a private frontier ship owned by the captain. He began working at the age of 18, climbing the ranks until he became the second officer (HOP) at the age of 21. Now at the age of 40 he is looking forward to working on aurora as his old job.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?:7/10 I usually try to interact with people and have fun but sometimes I get tired and make mistakes. I played on MRP servers before this so I might not have the best experience, but I really enjoy talking to people.

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I mean, yeah what would be the point if it was, this is needed to ensure griefers and stuff like that don’t ruin entire rounds and ensure a round is fun so going against the idea is going to get anyone stripped of their whitelist.

Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes I have read the HOP page and I have background experience as HOP.

Extra notes: Well, I will be mostly playing HOP and I wish people would give me feedback on how to improve, if you wish to know more about me feel free to contact me through my discord (clockheart).

Okay. Hi! I am glad that you took your time with this after you first contacted me to check your application draft.
First things first, formatting. Please don't put everything in bold. Just make the questions in bold and leave your answers as regular text.
I am not sure what you mean by "under the eyes of the Republic of Biesel", but the Republic of Biesel is THE government that resides within the Tau Ceti system. And, also, I have to doubt the fact that Korosh became a high-ranking officer in just 3 years. And I should probably put this here just to clear any misunderstanding:

Quote

Qualifications: At least 30 years of age, 10 years experience in department-related field and a relevant Bachelors or Masters degree.

From the HoP page on our wiki. He could, of course, get the degree after his work on the frontier ship, but I wanted to just clear this out of the way. It'd also be nice to know just what kind of ship it was and how his experience as an officer aboard that ship is relevant to the qualifications required to be a Head of Personnel.
That being said, this is not a +1 or a -1 yet. I have not seen you play that much so I will refrain from posting my opinion here, but I hope that you take in the points mentioned above. Good luck!

It was a Frontier ship called the nerva

And it's real lore I moved from another server and the pop of the ship is always pretty small so he managed to easily climb up the ranks and his degrees are a bachelor In electronics and a masters at Organizational Leadership, I could talk about his character but I rather create him and improve his story on aurora

Okay, first - in your application, there's a system near sol that acts as NT's command hub. This is adverse to our actual lore regarding NT's command hub located in Biesel itself. If your character's going to work in Tau Ceti for extended time, it's expected that they'll at least know what's going on in the system.

Secondly, he managed to obtain degrees in electronics and a masters in organizational leadership while living in the frontier working on a small ship floating through the cosmos? Something seems a bit off.

Thirdly, discussing your character is important on the application because it's expected that you'll be making characters that are believable, especially within the realms of the server and for the roles you wish to play.

I think you should play Aurora more and reapply in a few months. You lack a solid hold on our lore (which isn't completely important for Heads, but I think it's relatively something they should know) and your answers in response to the questions are relatively lackluster.

I think you'll grow into your HRP-self in this community if you give it a bit of time. -1 for now, however.

Hey there! I'll be handling your application. I'm afraid I'm not going to be accepting this application for a few reasons.

As some pointed out, your characters education and experience is a little off.

Sure, their time on the ship can count toward their experience. But the relavent education should be done at a university or through an apprenticeship.

I'm afraid we don't accept lore from other servers, it can conflict with our lore and generally cause confusion. You'll need to do some reading of our lore, all of which can be found on the wiki. Then you'll need to adapt your character to our lore.

Lastly you've only been playing for a couple weeks, which is a really short time to get to grips with the server, our lore and HRP itself. You should give yourself some more time to get used to the server and our lore before applying again.

In conclusion, take some time to play the server, get used to the HRP dynamic and also read up on some of our lore. Give it a couple months so you really know the feel of the server and can develop your character, adapting them to our lore. After which, I recommend you re-apply taking into account what has been said here and what you've learnt on the server.

However for now, Application Denied.
