Why do you wish to play this specific race: 

  

Dionae have always had a certain level of mystery about them - they are incredibly unique, but for the longest time - I always thought they would be incredibly boring to play. I've recently changed my mind, as I've begun playing non-Command characters and taking things more slowly, the idea of playing as a Dionae, which generally make decisions and take actions slower than the other species, is appealing to me. Specifically, my character idea will be taking this to the next level. 

  

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: 

  

Essentially, everything. Dionae have distinct physiology which makes their immediate play style different in a mechanical and roleplay sense. They have a distinct living system, being made-up of dozens of smaller beings which all have some level of say in the gestalt's personality and decision making - thus it may take longer for a Dionae to come to a decision or to take certain actions. Their naming structure is also a differentiation, as their name can help you guide your roleplay as it is how a Dionae represents their cumulative experience.

  

Character Name: Painful Fruits of Democracy

Please provide a short backstory for this character (Approximately two paragraphs) 

Painful Fruits of Democracy was originally 'Drifting Absence of Thoughts Upon Nebulous Clouds' and was in a group of travelling Cyclops exploring human space together some time after first contact. Their group became trapped in an exhibit on Aristotle and democratic theory for a few days and after this extensive confinement, they became infatuated with the philosopher and democracy. Moving forward, they would form an Argus known as the 'Divine Indecision of the Reincarnated Descendants of Aristotle' - which would eventually develop further to add 'in Humble Service to our Nubere Nymphas' (further on that background lore can be found here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ohr35ZCJN_fpNPFz-9Rfmu4oMR9bUbSog8k5Zlf2-3c/edit?usp=sharing )

This Argus was not a permanent fixture, but rather a yearly gathering of its component dionae and newly recruited members, and so for much of their lives - Painful Fruits of Democracy has wandered around and engaged in interactions with humanity while maintaining their democratic ideals.

Painful Fruits functions democratically in everything that it does. Large matters such as personality, friendship, education and career choice and other such things are handled through an absolute majority vote of all citizens in the Cyclops, while smaller issues such as what to consume, where to go and how to get there are handled by the Prime Nymph that makes up the eye-stock. Painful Fruits’ hands are both Ambassadors, and any sort of interaction with a foreign biological entity is considered a diplomatic occasion – as such, they consider shaking hands to be very special and a weak handshake may offend the diplomatic nymphs into convincing the citizenry to vote no-confidence in friendship of the person they are meeting. The current Prime Nymph, which is elected every six months, is known as ‘A Single Vote in a Pool of Upending Political Decisions’, but it is not considered appropriate to address Cyclopian leaders by their individual names except during while gestalt. SVPUPD has been Prime Nymph for three terms in a row, and remains popular within the cyclops.

What do you like about this character? (Describe what you like about this character How would you rate your role-playing ability?)

I think that I came up with a really unique idea and I'm super excited to be able to put it into action, even better is that I've shared this concept with other players whom have expressed interest in being a part of the larger organization of the Argus as individual Cyclops running their variations of democracy which will make playing this character even more enjoyable. I'm also specifically excited to play out the revered hand-shaking process and see how that might manifest ceremoniously with the character and others.

As for rating my roleplay ability - I generally go with about a seven (7), as I've been able to attain multiple species whitelists and have experience roleplaying diverse humans and diverse xenos. I always think there is room for improvement in any skill or talent so I believe a seven is a reasonable number to hover at.

They play Klaus Eliade very well, and have very believable characters in general. Another thing I appreciate is them not being afraid to contact people on discord to offer them feedback, like they did with my character. I am VERY confident they can pull this character off. +1
