Filthyfrankster
BYOND Key: Filthyfrankster Character Names: Raks Apperatu Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: M'sai, Wheat colored fur Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yis Why do you wish to play this specific race: Much as I used to diss on tajara and their cultures in the past, I believe a change of character pacing and viewing other alien species for their well written backgrounds and history that went in their system is required. Thus after indulging myself on the the basics of the tajara people and the three-different party system that held power in the land. I decided to indulge myself with one of the basic groups and start off with making my first tajara. Memeish as the application may seem from the start, I tend to take a serious approach to races that I play. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Adhomai is the land of revolutions, which is quite literal in terms with the two separate revolutions that went on in the planet. Originally being considered to be rather primitive in terms of their technological advances before being discovered and immediately exploited by the corporate executives that seek to get an easy profit from manipulating the people for cheap labor and obtaining their share of the natural resources that remained untapped by the native people. With the two previous revolutions and the official armistice being declared. Modern day Adhomai was left with three different powerhouse nations that grasp certain sections of territory. Leaving it in a rather odd cold 'war' waiting for someone to pull the trigger of resuming the three-way war. Tajara also have a wide vareity of religions at hand. Some of the three-factions either allowing a free religious system or select allowed few. Some of the common ones being S'rendarr, Messa and Ma'ta'ke gods, Character Name: Dimit Mstirrrslav Please provide a short backstory for this character: Coming from a long line of prideful M'sai who even to this day still remains a prosperous supporter of the Hadiist cause. Generations before him serving during the first revolutionary war and proudly giving their lives for the cause. Dimit was one of those prideful supports of the PRA during his youth, growing up in Al'mari with the rest of his family. He was surrounded by PRA propaganda and constant praise for the cause, which was backed by his father's previous military history during the first revolutionary war of the land. Dimit had always the highest of respect and admiration for his father who clawed and dug his way up the military ranking to an officer of a decently high position during the first conflict. Following M'sai tradition of playing their roles as the backbone of the military due to their physical attributes, propaganda filled his mind which practically drove him to sign up for the service under the republican army and wishing to fulfill his dreams of living up to the generation of soldiers before him. Most importantly attempting to become just like his father, even dying honorably in the heat of battle would sate his wanderlust to serve the cause. Death wasn't a concern, instead, it was merely dying for what he believed his right and pleasing those of his family who died serving PRA in the past before him. None of that happened. Being brought for his basic military training, Dimit found himself handy with the weaponry and employed tactics that were taught by his superiors. Only a few weeks in and some unknowing events were shifted between the shadows of the military. Reassignments of soldiers and their roles had to be made. One of them is a need for more ways to boost morale amongst the fields and please the snobby officers who held points in the warzone. That job being a petty cook, thus Dimit was one of the poor souls to be reassigned to 'kitchen duty'. Initial attempts of arguing his ways out of this change of service were met with threats of being sent to the brig for disobedience or straight up being shot for failing to support Adhomi and her true people. The young prospect wished to die an honorable death out in the field, not clean pots and pans for snobby officers and high-ranking military officials. This new fate was half-heartedly accepted and he traded in his rifle for kitchen utensils and a new area of training. Due to the corporation supplied rations from Nanotrasen and other influence third-parties that allied with the PRA and their cause. There wasn't quite a large amount of raw cooking materials out on the field at his disposal. Merely small petty ways to improve the bland and over-processed supplies handed to them by the corporate sponsors. Sometimes getting a few 'fresh' supplies when it came to special occasions such as certain authority figures in the military making a presence or celebrating a birthday. Dimit had to make do with the supplies at hand, entertaining both the officers and the grunts who were lucky enough to have his cooking skills at hand. He grew a rather promising skillset in the mastery of cooking. Pleasing for the officers but not so great for his motivation. False self-promises of supporting the PRA through well-fed bellies kept him going from the start and eventually dwindled. A call for soldiers in southern Ras'nrr was made. Dimit was one of the lucky few to be assigned to a unit as their field cook. A firearm in hand and a prospecting chance to fulfill his honorable wish of dying for guts and glory. To the men he served with in unit, he was seen as a morale booster due to his skillset on scavenging what surrounding goods could be edible and mixed up with the rations when the time was given to set up camp to cook and rest. A small twinkle of pride filled his aching heart and kept his spirits high enough to keep ongoing. Taking in fact the risk of being paired with an incompetent officer was painfully missed. The soldiers he marched obviously had a distrust for their field commander but followed his orders to a T. Which eventually led the unit and including Dimit himself to be caught in the middle of an ALA ambush. Observing his own people getting shot down around him as they attempted to defend themselves from the overpowering ambush at hand. Seeking this as a chance to finally fill his self-righteous cause and attempting to return fire with the hopes of being struck down with the rest of his unit to be given the blood-earned warrior death that he craved. Dimit was instead knocked unconscious by a nearby explosive device deployed by the ALA forces which only caused him to suffer a few good shrapnel wounds and getting knocked out. Not being the death willing wish that he hoped for yet again. Everything fell silent briefly as he was slowly roused from his unconsciousness. The exchange of weaponry had settled and all that remained was the muttering sound of the liberation army troops scavenging along his deceased comrades. Attempting to reach for a nearby firearm from one of his deceased, the still alive Dimit was finally spotted and promptly detained despite his light injuries which posed no fatal risk to his health. He wasn't sure on the ALA prisoner policy and merely being executed out in the field such as this wasn't going to cut it. Despite the apparent hearing loss from the previous explosions and gunfire, he was able to make out some of the muffled talks around him. Discussions of executing him on the spot or taking him back to camp for a proper interrogation were debated until the assigned ALA officer had decided to see what information could be beaten out from the captured soldier. Injuries were tended to and being brought back to the enemy camp for his interrogation arrangements completed, The exhausted chef was held in makeshift captivity by the bragging ALA soldiers and their commanding officer. Interviews on the reason for his unit being at the ambush location and his purpose within the PRA conducted. Dimit wasn't fond of being bluntly executed, so he gave whatever information the officer wished to hear for the future possibility of PERHAPS getting some sort of revenge or break-out attempt. The topic of the captured PRA soldier and his cooking capabilities were humored, thus an idea was hatched by the ALA soldiers to keep the man around as a prisoner. Such a rare commodity in the field such as a decently skilled cook was something no army should waste. Feuding with the idea at first as he did in the past, Dimit accepted the cruel cards of fate and went along with it. Serving as a tradable prisoner amongst different ALA units for a good year. The supplies that the ALA obtained were mostly 'requisitioned' or forcefully donated by the locals in surrounding areas. Sometimes having to make due with hardly any goods or enough supplies to host a feast if the proper commander was out in the field. Swallowing back down his pride and continuing his forced captivity at the mere hopes of getting back at the enemy soldiers. An opportunity finally came as one of the units stationed at the frontline he was assigned with as their POW cook had came across a rather karma-induced retribution ambush by the corporation-backed PRA soldiers. Leading to his freedom as the ALA troopers were cut down and Dimit was discovered. Initially being considered to be a spy or a traitor to the PRA. He was brought back to headquarters and interrogated once more by his fellow PRA commanders to ensure his loyalty still remained with the republic and to note down all the information that he gathered through his year in wandering captivity. Following the decisions by his commanding officers who at last finally declared him to be a proper PRA loyalist despite all the previous events. Instead of being deployed back to the frontlines, Dimit was instead placed far away from the conflict in a kitchen. Feeding those rather pompous generals and only disheartening the wanting soldier. His time as a prisoner of war did come with one added benefit of upon his discharge from the republic army. He was to be given a generous amount of funds from the veteran funds. Something to go home with at the end of all the conflict. Armistice day soon did arrive and weapons were dropped. Alas, Adhomi had finally seen peace after such long years of constant bloodshed. Receiving his honorable discharge and his allocated funds from the PRA for his service. The family awaiting back for him in Al'mari did not have much of a welcome home celebration member for the war torn Dimit and only expressed sheer disappointment as they received information of his service and captured the past few years. Practically placing the title of a shamed black sheep amongst his family lineage. It was a shame that no amount of apologies and begging for forgiveness from his family could fix. Driving Dimit out of his house with his belongings and securing a new domain of his home. Whatever family he did have a small form of communication with completely distrusted him, A shame to himself and the rest of his family, he was driven to the bottle and the awaiting comforts of food. Being able to live a decent life with the funding provided by the PRA for his service gave him the excuse to be lazy. Slowly crawling within the deep dark hole of depression as the once prideful m'sai was now nothing more than ashamed member of his family name. Emotional turmoil and spirals of anger and depression led him to self-isolation. Keeping himself away from the rest of the society unless provisions had to fetched at the risk of being openly mocked for the rumored shame that was being carried along his shoulders. Out of shape and no friends or family remaining in his district that would give him more than a mere minute of attention had caused the grizzled m'sai to nearly crack. Nothing in the future awaited him except for attempting to become a useful member of a society that posed a chance of publicly denouncing him or turning to the cowardly act of suicide to end this terrible tale. The only applicable trade that awaited him was tending to the kitchens yet again. Adhomi wasn't the best start of chasing a new dream, Dimit had to start fresh. Somewhere else that wouldn't hold his shame-filled past ahead as some kind of curse. Rumors of the buzzing Tau Ceti and Mendell City reached his ears as communications between the corporations and the PRA continued. A land of opportunity that those with troubled pasts and people with aspiring dreams traveled far and wide to. A decision was made and paperwork had been filed. Packing up the rest of his belongings and joining amongst the immigration waves of students and migrants who sought to retreat from the war-torn nation. Discovering a pleasing enough hobble within district six of Mendell City with the money he had left from his veteran fund. A plot to own a five-star kitchen of his own was hatched and ideas were drawn out. Dimit had to start small, thus seeking employment in smaller establishments or if necessary, one of the major corporations that often picked out tajara for their cheap labor and sometimes useful skills. Leading to the interview process with Nanotrasen and a hope of being placed in a high enough establishment to start collecting his funds for his dream. Yet again, the man was wrong. To this day Dimit still holds high hopes for the PRA and the cause. Considering himself to be one of 'very few' true loyalists within district six. Although much of the time stuck working for the ALA left a small seed of different political opinions buried in his head. He'll still serve whoever appears at his kitchen despite their political loyalty. In general, much of his mixed emotions based on his dishonored title within his family has left him rather nuclear in terms of his personality. Be warned not to insult his cooking or overcook/undercook something in his presence to avoid a proper ear-yelling. Edited January 19, 2021 by Filthyfrankster Link to comment
Haydizzle
Hello! I like the application. Another cat chef is always cool to see. 1) Did Dimit's ideological foundation falter after seeing the ALA side of the war? Was his beliefs reinforced by his experience as a captive? 2) Is Dimit very religious? I didn't see much about that there, so I was curious. 3) More of a personal question and not too whitelist related, but do you have any ideas for what you'll do in game regarding dishes and menus and food? I got into tajara because of the cuisine lore, so I'm always eager to see what other people are coming up with! Good luck, this app looks like a winner to me. Link to comment
Filthyfrankster
1) During his time under ALA captivity, he constantly muttered under his breath at the rather foul display and honor that the rival military forces had. With ALA soldiers often getting their supplies through force and forcefully recruiting underaged soldiers into their ranks assured him that these rebels were nothing but dirty dirty politically brain washed savages. Reassuring him to hold onto his hope pray for his eventual freedom or the right time to score payback. His political beliefs to this day are still strong. With a majority of his kind in district six supporting the PRA he has some motivation to keep going strong. 2) As for a majority of tajara that live under the PRA way of life (Even if it is a free religious constitution). He follows the path of S'rand'marr worship during his youth and still does even today. While within his younger years of life, prepping up for his military service time during conflicts. He often praised S'rendarr to for blessing him with his boastful attributes and his stable mind while held captive. Most of this was due to his father being a by the book religious man and with that ensuring his kids were brought up in the same method of religious views. 3) Nothing special as of yet, I'll likely be spicing it up as I go. But I am more than happy to talk about it over DM's! Edited January 20, 2021 by Filthyfrankster Link to comment
