Frances was a good Headmin and this lack of transparency by staff, plus the whole 'swept under the rug' feel it's giving is highly disrespectful to both her and the rest of the community.

If she was good enough for you all to elect as head administrator then by what logic is she not good enough to be a moderator? Frances keeps the weirdest sleep schedule I've seen so I highly doubt it's about timezone issues.

I'll be honest. The fact that you did this on a serious application boggles my mind. Especially since it resulted in all of those 'uguu~ frances you're sho mature and young, +9000' comments. I can only ask... why???

I wasn't one of the people who 'spoke against' you. Keeping this in mind, though, I still personally had some kind of ehhhh intuitive feeling against your modship. I couldn't articulate it well enough, or at all, so I kept it to myself.

Despite all of that, however, I've had lots of time to observe you, your conduct, your contributions. And from what I saw, I can say I think you'd fit what you applied for very well. You're a human who strives for fairness and justice and generally keeps their cool. That's all anyone could really ask for in a mod.

Sorry for this really backhanded endorsement. I didn't really know how else to say all of this. But I hope that the fact that it's an endorsement nonetheless still makes you happy. You're one of the best candidates for a mod out of the recent applicants, and I mean that wholeheartedly.

I would also encourage everyone to be a bit more understanding of stuff like this. Whoever was in charge of this application most likely isn't a shitler, but shit does happen. Frances did good to bring it up again and outline her concerns. Hopefully she will receive an apology and more attention on the application (that isn't 'uguu~ the most perfekt 14 year old ever').

The age thing was mostly a joke because everyone on the staff already knows me (besides, I'm not actually 14, I'm hundreds of years old.) Age tends to only be used as a general hint of someone's possible behavior when the applicant isn't already known - I wouldn't particularly care if Skull was a hyper-intelligent 9-year old, as I already know he's a good host. But yeah, it's super minor, I don't think staff particularly cares. I've always taken moderation (and players as a whole) seriously but I do like to joke around otherwise. If it actually ends up causing any confusion over my intentions I'm willing to take the blame (though I'd rather people just let me know, so I can clear up whatever is bothering them.)

What Crescentise highlights is important. I'm not looking to blame anyone here (though maybe I want to out the fact that there seems to be a general lack of direction and I find staff can be slow to act at times). But no one did anything terrible, it's just that... no one was willing to step up and actually look at my case. It's difficult to blame that on everybody, but it simply kinda sucks that it happened.

If we want to talk about failures, then let's talk April and May 2015: I spent the majority of the time inactive, managing myself and making sure that I don't exactly die or put myself into a position that I'll regret in the future. With minimal management, actions chugged along the best they could. Consider that I am not the only staff member affected by strain over finals. As such, the moderator applications were rather poorly timed, and fun things like this happened.

With the final check of Trials mid last week, I also gave the order for all untried applications to be looked over for potential late additions. This one specifically I raised, out of personal interest. And, out of personal interest, argued for adding. No applications were raised for further admission into the trial mod ranks at this time, partly due to reasons and questions with the individuals themselves, partly due to the fact that it's better to stop this half-assed cycle, as opposed to letting it run.

As for transparency. Consider: reasons for denial have never been published. And while one can say that the ball was dropped in terms of communication between staff and applicants, with what effort and manpower was left being placed into the management of clear decisions, the level of transparency has and will be maintained. Denial of an application is first, and foremost, a matter between the admitting body and the applicant. And as such, any questions regarding the decision can be directed at me, as required.

With this, however, the application in question will be denied, effective 31MAY2015. As with any other case, the applicant is free to reapply in a future cycle.

I was hoping for communication to happen during the selection process, and not after.

While you were busy and I want to hold you about 0% accountable for any of this, I'm disappointed that:

1. Nobody rose up to look at this issue despite me trying to inform several people about it, and several people (inside of staff) showing their support to bring me back to the active staff contingent

2. The reasons that I was previously given for the semi-refusal of my application were due to incidents I believe I was in the power to debate and explain, and the people who opposed my candidature because of it - whoever they are - spoke their mind and simply left instead of trying to confirm with me whether their gripes were founded or not.

This makes me sad because it's the very kind of thing I always wanted to be a mod for, since a year ago. Outlier cases like this which get ignored or delayed because nobody has the time, energy or interest to look at them.

Funnily enough, outlier cases are things we've built our staff team on. At least, from my perspective. It is just unfortunate that this cycle went counter to the standard.
