New crew ghost role and some medical mechanics: "Mortician"

The idea here, is a CMO or Chaplain, maybe an investigator? Can use a computer terminal to open a ghost role for "Mortician."

Basically, they'd have "makeup" tools that can hide physical and burn trauma, as well as a special device that can keep bones and tendons from recracking/snapping.

Could make the bone/tendon tool cause extreme immobilizing pain when in place. Basically it'd be a tool that implants an augment when used, give it an infinite supply of augments. (if someone tried to use it on a living person it would have to be surgically removed.)

Not sure how much work it would be. But could make it so we can have more open casket funerals for miners.

The bone resnap thing is meh though, and there'd be a case of a reviving ling having it implanted by a well meaning crewmember. Not sure if it's worth it. But the makeup thing could be interesting.

Could also just make the makeup thing  available to surgeons.

Feel like we have this mostly available through plastic surgery and operating on the deceased already. I've cleaned up bodies as a Surgeon when things are slow and processed whatever postmortem instructions they have on their medical records. Interesting idea, but made redundant by existing mechanics/positions & I don't think Medical needs further niche roles. Could just add some form of make up/embalming to Medical's toolkit though.

People don't regularly die and when they do it's in large numbers. So, either you don't have work to do or you have so much work to do, that the RP nature of it is destroyed and you just become a Nurse role that bags + stores bodies.

Not to say that this isn't a cool idea but it could very well just be an Assistant subtitle for extra RP.

Yeah, didn't know about the ghost role limitation. Best way to implement would be an additional medical or investigator or chaplain kit and roll it into an existing job.

Fair point's close it.

I wonder: why not give those tools and job to the Psychiatrist?

Given how limited they are in actual mechanical tools/role, they're supposedly there to try to make everyone feel better, and they are also supposedly doctors themselves, would it not be better to give them an additional option of something they can do?

Mild issue, they have an entire alt-title that isn't a doctor. Dolling up corpses is also something well beyond the expectations of a psychiatrist, and I'd imagine would be more done by Physicians or Surgeons (more likely the latter if it involves any form of surgery). Psychiatrist/Psychologist should likely stay as a minimal expectations RP role with a very clear focus.

If a changeling gets implanted with this that'd actually be quite funny. Some more discouragement for lings who spam fake death would go a long way, and anyone who isn't spamming it could choose to 'wake up' before a surgeon handles their body (and would likely have a good grace period anyways given that, hopefully, an autopsy is performed before the body is seen to).

I see what you mean, having an alt-title that covers both roles could address all of that at once, what do you think?
After all, in the lore we can poof into existence and bend whatever we please, right?
