Staff Complaint-eddymakaveli

BYOND Key: Sparta9002
Staff BYOND Key: eddymakaveli
Game ID: Don't remember sorry round was around 11:00 PM PST
Reason for complaint: Given a warning without being spoken to or contacted by staff.
Evidence/logs/etc:
Additional remarks: this stemmed from a round on 11/03/23. An ahelp was made against me, however I was never spoken to by the admin who took the ahelp or any staff. I only was made aware of the warn after trying to join a round the following day.

As for the warn itself. I didn't have a chance to give my side of the story. so I suppose I will do it here. The chief previously communicated that he trusted Dresden to handle what was going on with the patient in question. The CMO who was Ethan Harris did not communicate with Amelia much more than that after that. Until he decided that Amelia was somehow working against him by not telling him the exact details of a very sensitive case. Amelia did not think the CMO was very competent and had not demonstrated any leadership or initiative epically when it came to treatment. The CMO then proceeded to suspend Amelia after not talking to the patient about what they wanted which was for it to be between them and Amelia. To sum it all up I just believe not enough communication happened between those handling the ahelp.

Certainly.

My main reasoning for making this a warning and not just a note is that:
1) It'd be something that the player would have to acknowledge before logging in again, as I've seen happen before on other warnings without the other party being online.
2) There's been a lot of discussion - both on the forums and discord - regarding cracking down on cliqueish/elitist behavior that happens in the medical department. While the incident may seem like it's just IC - it is not reasonable for a medical employee to refuse to disclose medical information to the CMO on the grounds of 'I have not seen you before/ I do not trust you', with an extended argument being that they didn't think the CMO was doing a good job so they'd not cooperate. The rules state that a character must be realistic - and there's no job that you'd not be instantly fired from for behaving in such a way towards your boss.  The CMO was a newer character and if I put myself in their shoes, I'd likely not want to try medical/CMO again.
Antag involvement was present, by my measure, but again - your character must still behave realistically if you yourself are not an antag.

I am not against this being downgraded to just a note, but I felt it was important that the sort of behavior that I believed was going on - be curbed by issuing a warning.

I would like to chime in on this, as the antag and patient. Essentially, the gimmick at the time was that when Ash lost control of her emotions or panicked, she had psionic surges that ranged from damaging herself to knocking down people. As Amelia was directly next to Ash, and Ash had mentioned that she didn't know what to do, Amelia was attempting to keep Ash calm while dealing with her escalating paranoia. Ash had previously fled when confronted with others, and so having a CMO show up would've caused her to enter into a panic attack, which I'm fairly certain Amelia was able to tell.

I know I don't have any sway from my side of things, I just wanted to inform you of the third side of things tied to this.

Hello all, @ReadThisNamePlz and I have reviewed the issue stated and we will be downgrading the warning to a note. The main purpose of the warning was to gain acknowledgement of an issue while the relevant party was disconnected from the server. Given how late in the night this issue was handled in, it is understandable. We believe Eddy was acting in good faith in regards to the 'clique'-esq issue, but we have not been able to find sufficient evidence that constitutes such action. The Chief Medical Officer however is command personnel, and is well within their right to handle issues regarding their staff ICly. Additionally, we were hoping to find it written somewhere regarding protocol for staff-player interaction and making contact before exacting a staff action, but after consulting Alberyk, we were informed that, while strongly encouraged, is not strictly required.
