GeneralCamo Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 This is a proposal to get rid of the "X selection" drop downs in the loadout, or at least significantly split them. Having 20 different hats under a single drop-down does not help anyone find a cowboy hat, or similar for work boots. Quote
stevIII Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 I think selections are alright to keep the loadout from getting incredibly messy, but I think the search function should be actually capable of telling you what is in each selection. Maybe also have a little line of text beside each ones description that says "This selection contains: Item, Item, Item, Item" so it isn't just a complete guessing game. 2 Quote
Dreamix Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 (edited) Selections are absolutely awful, and super inconsistent. Some items are in selections with lots of other items, meanwhile other items are just by themselves in the list. Like the cowboy hat is in a selection with 11 other hats, but there's two boonie hats that are separate entries in the list and aren't in any selections. There are examples of this in every category. It's completely inconsistent, non-intuitive, and illogical. I'm sure someone will come and say this is "fine" and worked okay for years, but it's absolutely not. It's only "fine" if you already know where all the items are. A hypothetical new user would have to click through all the categories and selections multiple times to figure out what items are available, if they are looking for a particular kind of look. I tried to implement a better loadout, with tags, where the end goal was to eliminate selections as well. But some members of the community did not like it, so we are stuck with the awful categories and selections. Edited November 24, 2023 by Dreamix Quote
KingOfThePing Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 The tag based system was unintuitive, incomplete and not well sorted. It was as bad as the current system at worst, marginally better if you were lucky and everything worked as intended, at best. There was more feedback to it than "it sucks" in the respective thread. 1 Quote
GeneralCamo Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 We do not need tags to get rid of these selections. Quote
