CourierBravo Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 (edited) See title. I think hold throw is a great addition for people who don't like toggle throw. However, I really like toggle throw. And having it be all the way on the end key now really messes with me. I use toggle throw a lot, and I would like to have both options be at my disposal. Rather than being forced into one. This is of course unless its already something I can toggle between. Which I cannot figure out if that's the case. I've tried. I've really tried. (I'd like to make a quick addendum to please be respectful about the change, and keep a respectful and polite tone in the thread. Thank you.) Edited December 25, 2023 by Bejewledpot addendum 1 Quote
Carver Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Yeah the original hotkey isn’t too bad but it’s mostly for arrow key users (I’m one of them lmao). In theory you can macro the very same command if you know the verb, but last I checked that required digging through the skin or some similarly weird place to get the exact verb if you don’t know it off-hand. JeffMomentRed Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 (edited) please do this, the current state of throwbind is not great when there is not an option to do otherwise Edited December 26, 2023 by JeffMomentRed Quote
Star Dust Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 agreed, please allow it be personal preference. Quote
GeneralCamo Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Toggle keybinds was already denied by a head dev: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/16329#pullrequestreview-1425580466 The only acceptable alternative is a fully functional keybind system instead. Quote
CourierBravo Posted December 26, 2023 Author Posted December 26, 2023 (edited) Well, then i think that needs to be addressed. Having this hold R being forced isn’t comfortable, and dramatically slows down my gameplay and ability to react. Nevermind the number of times I’ve been accidentally hit by people trying to pass me things just in 1 day. I agree with Arrow that a half assed system that isn’t standardized isn’t a solution. But a problem has been created. Until a developer can or does make our keybinds fully customizable, toggling the preference should be enabled. Ideally, given the context of Arrow’s decision, the outcome here is just, someone going “I’ll bite the bullet and make keybinds customizable.” But that’s a very difficult thing to get done. I’d be happy to offer up some money to encourage any dev who takes the project on though. Edited December 26, 2023 by Bejewledpot Clarification Quote
party Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 As someone who wanted a hold to throw, this implementation doesn't quite meet my expectations. I was personally hoping for something like Goon's throw: you hold the button down, and for as long as it's held, you're in throw mode. The way this version works, however, untoggles throw as soon as something is thrown--making it a strange mixture of the old toggle and how you'd expect holding a button to function. I'd personally like the PR to be looked over again, if possible, since this mostly feels like a downgrade to the old behavior. Quote
Fluffy Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/18078 toggle throw is back in town, until we decide to go with a customizable keybindings system (which is unlikely to happen anytime soon from my perspective) 3 Quote
