Player Complaint - Deneir, Garnascus

Recommended Posts

BYOND Key: SierraKomodo

Player Byond Key: Deneir, Garnascus

Staff involved: Callum99877

Reason for complaint: I was a security borg, operating under a law stating all security was hostile. As a result, I was stunbatonning and cuffing every officer I saw. A CT was voted for, and I was still acting under this law, so I started cuffing officers and buckling them to chairs in the usual 'prison' section of the departures area. Garnascus complained about me doing this at end round, so I stopped and sat myself in departures without engaging any other officer. Deneir runs in, looks at me, and immediately flashes me then starts harmbatonning me without a word. Garnascus then joined in, and they both killed me without saying anything beyond 'KILL IT!'. I don't care about the fact I was destroyed, its that I was killed by the very people that had just told me off in LOOC for using /non lethal/ equipment to detain people that would have been brought onto the shuttle anyway.

Wait, an officer walked /right in/ without a word and flash-harmbatonned you to deactivation, after the arrest of a couple officers? They went straight to lethals without knowing you were technically 'rouge'?

Or did the officer manage to spit out you were goin' nuts over sec/common comms?

Because if that wasn't the case, it sounds like a bit of metacommunication.

There was mention on radio about Kunai arresting officers for no reason, and the AI did say all security officers are threats to be detained on radio. But nothing was said prior to him flash-batonning me in escape. Just walked up and immediately started hitting

All that aside, anything beyond non-lethal force in escape should be an immdeate, three day ban because of EoR rules.

EoR rules have an (unspoken? It should be added) amendment that pre-existing conflict is allowed to continue and finish organically at the end of the round. For example, somebody being chased by somebody else wouldn't be able to run into the shuttle and use it as a "safe zone" - they'd still get robusted. EoR rules also apply for disruptions after the shuttle has docked - people are pretty much free to roleplay as normal in escape before this.

This does not really seem to be the issue here, anyway. I believe the highlighted problem is more that the players involved asked SierraKomodo to stop a behavior they found annoying for OOC, then decided to attack his character with minimal roleplay after he made a clear effort to accommodate their demands.

That's pretty much what this thread is up for

Sorry for the delay.

This one is a tricky thing due to the fact that you were arresting security officers. However, you had reason to do this even though it was a CT because there was conflict before the vote was called. Conflict is allowed to happen during CT if it's was ongoing before the vote was called. You should not be starting new conflict afterwards, however. Telling someone to stop in LOOC because of CT and then going up to them to flash and beat them is a poor move.

I want to hear from Deneir and Garnascus involving this matter, however.

We may want to amend the rule itself in that case, because it reads that all conflict must come to an end, without exclusion. If we're going to have unspoken amendments, why have rules at all? What constitutes "previously originated conflict?" I've been wanting to do away with this rule for some time now because it's a lazy OOC solution for something that has a plethora of IC solutions. Griefing elsewhere is not comparatively minor to griefing on the shuttle, but for some reason the escape area and shuttle have plot armor once a crew transfer or escape shuttle are docked. I've even been fussed at for detonating a bomb that accidentally glanced the southern wall of escape when there was still 8 minutes left until the crew transfer.

It creates borderline idiotic situations (such as this one) and for what reason?

I understand I'm running off on what seems like a tangent, but my point is: let's remove the shuttle's plot armor and rather focus on griefing as a whole, since this definitely isn't the last misunderstanding involving the shuttle and those rules that'll take place.
