Lmwevil Posted November 24 Posted November 24 Aside from the cursed clickbait title. Vaurca are a heavily scent based species, including pheromones. Everyone under the sun has talked about how Vaurca probably should be able to tell the hive of other non obscured Vaurca by scent, which is true. But more importantly, antennae are a sensory organ to smell with, so give them an innate version of the ipc taster species wide and just have the flavour text be *[name] waves their antennae over the [drink/food]* and let them taste it that way. Should be easy code... Edit: This is especially important for chef or bartender bugs who would reasonably need to be able to taste what they do, but also fits them being bugs 5 Quote
Fyni Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Honestly, I'd be down to a "scent" section of flavour text, only visible when uncovered, and maybe distance based too (only readable in 2/3 tiles) with some species like Vaurca able to use it from further away, and some like IPCs unable to see it at all. 2 Quote
Desven Posted November 25 Posted November 25 I'm for this. Ideally, we would have a Vaurca smell system, but I would like to have mechanical Virtual Reality first and foremost. 1 Quote
Lmwevil Posted November 26 Author Posted November 26 For now it'll work as a bandaid solution and also potentially prevent vaurca from eating poison (nutrients/proteins) that they should already sense in food with their antennae like ants do, until a future scent and vr system is implemented Quote
