1glitchycent Posted December 11 Posted December 11 (edited) Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Medium Species: (Skrell, Tajara, Human, Vaurca, Dionae, Unathi, Synth, General) Human Short Description: Fleshes out relations between Himeo and Burszia, and how they have drastically worsened following Hephaestus Industries' attempt to seize Orepit. How will this be reflected on-station?: Himeans will have an actual reason to be regarded as untrustworthy by the SCC, instead of just having an opposed political ideology, which is something they don't really care about as long as you play nice. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: This fleshes out Himeo's relations with Burszia, which were previously around four words. The Himeo page doesn't even mention Burszia. It also addresses the fact that they did not react to Hephaestus Industries carrying out a surprise military operation in the Coalition's heartland, something that they should reasonably be very distressed by. Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? Yes. Long Description: (To be added to the Himean and Burszian wiki pages.) Historically, Himean-Burszian relations have remained cold yet civil. Instead of any direct action from the government, Himean Syndicates, particularly the UMA, FCDAM and TLIC have gone out of their way to curb the expansion of what they see as a major competitor in an industry that they traditionally dominate, with HPUAF and Hephaestus Security involvement remaining minimal, typically being limited to breaking up violent disputes between rival mining and salvage crews. This changed drastically following the bombardment of Orepit. Initially, this began with Himeo forming a bloc in the Representative Summit demanding the ejection of Burszia from the Coalition, with the First Speaker stating that Burszia has violated the strategic integrity of the Coalition, and acts as a powerbase for foreign capital to subvert smaller Coalition economies. Although the resolution received support from Gadpathur, Assunzione, Konyang, Orepit and several smaller Himean-aligned polities, Xanu has refused to vote on the resolution, while Galatea and several systems in its sphere of influence have opposed it, and its chances of being passed are incredibly low. Internally, a bill expanding the HPUAF's mandate to include the protection of Himean economic interests abroad was passed in 2465, and quickly put into action. HPUAF "Strategic Defense Groups" have since reinforced UMA mining craft and regularly force Hephaestus miners out of contested areas. They have also earmarked a portion of their funds to subsidize Syndicates that directly compete with Hephaestus. Additionally, the HPUAF now regularly stages exercises simulating combat operations in debris fields and space stations. In response to this, Hephaestus has further increased its security presence in Burszia and provides larger escorts for its mining craft. They have also unsuccessfully tried to file several grievances in the Coalition of Colonies' supreme court. Edited December 11 by 1glitchycent fixes a typo 1 Quote
JormungandrButCooler Posted December 11 Posted December 11 WE HAVE PASSED THE AGE OF HEPHAESTUS HIMEANS. WE NOW SHALL ENTER THE AGE OF ORION EXPRESS AND ZAVODSKOI HIMEANS GETTING INTO PUB BRAWLS WITH HEPHTAESTUS SOLARIANS AND BIESELLITES. I do think this is adding some pretty good depth to Himeo, especially since if they are willing to fund The League in the Solarian Wildlands, then it only makes sense they'd get heated up about Hephtaestus ramping up it's influence in it's own country. It also adds new roleplay possibilities for Himeans and Hepht workers alike, as well giving potentially interesting hooks for events in the future. Quote
SilverSZ Posted December 11 Posted December 11 I like this addition, but I would make one minor change myself. I don't think it makes much sense for Assunzione to support such a motion, myself. I think they would fall solidly into neutrality on something like this. For two primary reasons. One, during the Amor Patriae arc we actually got a decent look into some of the coalition states general foreign policies and Assunzione didn't really come off as the type to ever support ejecting a state from the Coalition. When a fight broke out between the Gadpathurian and Konyanger representatives where exactly that was threatened the Assunzione representative specifically was the one to call for talk and that they should all be friends. This was after Gadpathur went behind the Coalitions back to supply weapons and advisors to one of the civil war factions. I think it would be more fitting with how Assunzione has been characterised for them to be remain neutral and take the perceived moral high ground that "Everyone should get along teehee" Secondly, Hephaestus actually has a decent level of presence on Assunzione. One of their major cities, Iraklio, is a centre for shipbuilding and investment by Hephaestus on the planet. So I don't feel like they'd be very eager to support this amendment in thought that it would invite a response from Heph to put the screws on them. Other than this though I think it's a good addition and there's no reason it shouldn't be added to flesh out Himeo some more and give more teeth to their friction with the SCC. Quote

1glitchycent Posted December 11 Author Posted December 11 Also, I would like to ask how lore-apps are implemented. Should I be formatting this for it to be placed into relevant places in the wiki, or will it be reformatted by a proper lorehead once approved? Quote
dessysalta Posted December 12 Posted December 12 1. I think this is really cool. I don't really have much to say aside from I like depth in the lore and this adds to that. 2. Lore apps are implemented (like added to the wiki, not necessarily approved) faster if they're formatted like the wiki so they can be copy-pasted 1:1 (or nearly), but it's not a requirement. I'm not a lore dev, I'm just speaking from past experience. Quote

1glitchycent Posted Wednesday at 03:02 Author Posted Wednesday at 03:02 FINAL REVISION(unless a LoreHEAD says otherwise): For the foreign relations tabs of Himeo & Burszia:Historically, Himean-Burszian relations have remained cold yet civil. Instead of any direct action from the government, Himean Syndicates, particularly the UMA, FCDAM and TLIC have gone out of their way to curb the expansion of what they see as a major competitor in an industry that they traditionally dominate, with HPUAF and Hephaestus Security involvement remaining minimal, typically being limited to the de-escalation of violent disputes between rival mining and salvage crews. This changed drastically following the bombardment of Orepit. Himeo's initial response was to form a bloc in the Representative Summit demanding the ejection of Burszia from the Coalition, with the First Speaker stating that Burszia has violated the strategic integrity of the Coalition, and acts as a powerbase for foreign capital to subvert smaller Coalition economies, all while not being an actual government. Although the resolution received support from Gadpathur Konyang, Orepit and several smaller Himean-aligned polities, Xanu has refused to vote on the resolution, while Galatea and several systems in its sphere of influence have opposed it, and its chances of being passed are incredibly low. The HPUAF has since earmarked a portion of their funds to subsidize Syndicate operations that directly compete with Hephaestus, leveraging their position as the 3rd-strongest navy in the Coalition to woo other colonies to their side. In response to sustained Himean aggression, Hephaestus has increased its investment in private security around Burszia and many of its other mining operations. Himean Military tab, to be added to the navy paragraph: Following the bombardment of Orepit by Hephaestus Industries, the Himean Navy has begun performing extensive drills regarding maneuvers in fortified space and asteroid fields, going so far as to consult several former League officers that survived battles in San Colette and escaped to the Coalition. At the same time, many professional infantry and exosuit-equipped formations are being drilled and equipped for EVA operations and boarding actions. To be added to the end of the Vysokan relations tab: In recent memory, the HPUAF has begun providing advisors to the City-State of Sevaschaiv, while TLIC and FCDAM provide the city-state with excellent prices for their products and services, in a clear attempt to force Hephaestus out of the city. Some rumors suggest that the HPUAF has also struck deals with nearby hosts and rival cities, should Sevaschaiv succumb to the vice of capitalist impulse. 1 Quote
