greenjoe Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 (edited) While I do not have issues with the name Huginn, and understand its ties as Odin's raven, I feel the rename isn't really worth it? Bubble as the name is more iconic and it feels a shame to move away from it after it has been in use for so long. Stuff that has been worked with that AI could still be pulled off with the name Bubble, outside of the raven things. Short suggestion, but, those are my thoughts on the matter. Powder Miner Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 (edited) I can’t help but personally think that Huginn better reflects the new and relatively serious position that the AI in question has taken with the photon scarcity rework lore that just came up. I know Bubble has a lot of nostalgia behind it but I think that this actually limits it significantly - it’s not just that the name is a little silly for what is now supposed to be the most powerful AI in the entire spur. The name Bubble and the super strong association with what I have always assumed was an era of in game Central Command that isn’t around anymore certainly at least predisposed me to just view the AI as a relic of the old game instead of as a piece of the current lore. I looked into Huginn instead of writing it off as irrelevant because of the name change, and what I found is that it’s now a much more relevant and powerful entity than being Centcomm’s AI. Arbiter_Ambrose Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 I think it might be nice to have some cheek references here and there but I think the new name is fine as is now.
Jasorn Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Not to be that guy, but why does this even matter..? One could argue why the change mattered in the first place, but still. This is a named NPC in an area that essentially doesn't exist. No one will ever see the name change nor care. There's other random NPCs like Penny the cat or some other crazy Exosuits with names for some reason.
Carver Posted August 19, 2025 Posted August 19, 2025 I don't think that I've ever really seen people, IC or otherwise, enthusing about Bubble over all the years. Before this change I hadn't realized that it even had a name.
rrrrrr Posted August 19, 2025 Posted August 19, 2025 I feel like calling Bubble "iconic" is a bit of a stretch.
