Snowy1237 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 (edited) BYOND Ckey: Snowy1237 Discord username: Snowy1237 Character names: I play a lot, but these are some of my mains: Quisuu Su-Ruusi, Head of Security (Retired) IRU-Resonance, Security Officer Aria Sommer, Paramedic Emilia Meier, Head of Security among others! Species you are applying to play: Unathi ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: Razir Moss green (#1B321B) Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: After having many interesting encounters with other Unathi characters on the server I have become interested in reading more about Unathi lore. after reading through the wiki I have realized that I find the story of a less-technologically advanced species that significantly differs from humanity culturally having to integrate into a human-focused universe to be very interesting. I also wanted to explore roleplaying as a species that differs from humanity culturally more than IPCs but not as much as Vaurca, for example. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: As I have previously said, Unathi culture is quite different from human culture, with the preservation of the feudal system and the clans and guilds to the recent entry of the Unathi into a human and mega-corporate dominated universe forcing them to adapt to their new place in the wider spur and the aftermath of the Contact War. In addition to this, Unathi also greatly value their religion and spirituality, having it shape their interactions and view of the world and each other. Unathi also differ from other species in many other ways, from their unique gender roles to their mannerisms to the fact they are obligate carnivores and more. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Zhussd Razssla Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Zhussd Razssla was born in 2436 in the outskirts of the Izweski capital city of Skalamar to a poor family of a healer and a fisher. Her mother was working as the local slum healer and her other parent was a regular fisherman catching Swarm Fish and selling it in the local market to help provide for the family and their respective clan. Unfortunately for Zhussd and Moghes as a whole the Contact War began in 2438 and turned nuclear only a year later, when she was only three years old. Fortunately for her and her clan, the Izweski heartlands remained untouched by the nuclear hellfire consuming most of her home planet. Growing up in the aftermath of the Contact War was not easy for Zhussd, and she was forced to help out her mother with her job as the local healer, helping the poorest of the irradiated refugees flocking to the Heartlands from the Wasteland with whatever she and her mother had on hand, which was frequently nowhere near enough to help everyone. Since early childhood Zhussd looked up to The Healer Simi of the Sk'akh faith, wishing to be a healer just like her mother and frequently praying to Simi for her patients to help them recover from their illnesses. Razssla frequently felt weak and unworthy, as she and her mother were too poor to afford to give the required medical care that their patients needed to overcome their ailments, many times she wished she had the proper education and equipment to help the sick and ill. Fortunately for her, an opportunity presented itself in 2455, when she was nineteen. One uneventful day her neighborhood was visited by a traveling doctor from The House of Medicine, offering their help to the refugees and residents of the slum. This traveling healer took an interest in the young Razssla and her dedication to the aspect of the healer and her job and offered to help her become an apprentice at The House of Medicine. Eager for such an opportunity, she moved to the wealthier areas of Skalamar to begin her path of becoming a doctor. She took well to her studies, and after many years of hard work Zhussd Razssla was officially declared to be a member of The House of Medicine. Coincidentally, as she finished her education The House of Medicine was bought out by Hephaestus Industries, due to her dedication in her studies this eventually presented her with another opportunity, taking a job through NanoTrasen in Human space, eventually landing a position on the SCCV Horizon. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Razssla was heavily impacted by recent events in the Orion Spur, specifically The Titan Rises arc, as Hephaestus' absorption of the guilds is what allowed her to leave Moghes and work on the SCCV Horizon. She is excited for an opportunity to work in Human space and see the spur outside of the borders of Skalamar, and is happy that Hephaestus allowed her an opportunity to do so and that the mega-corporation is helping the Hegemony as a whole recover from the Contact War and giving Unathi such as her better opportunities and a way to integrate with the wider spur. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Razssla is deeply supportive and thankful of Hephaestus industries for helping her and the Hegemony at large. She is neutral towards NanoTrasen, seeing it only as a way to get off-of Moghes and see the spur, a compromise as she can not work as a surgeon with Hephaestus on the SCCV Horizon, much to her disappointment. Hepatica Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Easy +1 from me, Snowy has always played interesting characters and shown great roleplay ability through them. Her character, in my opinion, is well written and shows a lot of promise.
evandorf Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Hey, sorry for the delay and thanks for applying! The app looks solid but I just wanted to ask a few clarifying questions. - Having grown up in and after the contact war, as well as living in the Heartlands, how does she view the conflict and how it affected her life beyond survival? Would she have become a healer without the added need for healers that the refugee crisis brought about? Does she harbor any resentment towards the Hegemony or the traditionalists because of it? - She clearly sees the Hephaestus in a good light and Nanotrasen a bit more neutrally, but what are her opinions on the aliens behind these corporations? Given the timeline, I assume she has probably left Moghes within the last five or six years; has she acclimated at all to alien culture in that time?
Snowy1237 Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 1. She views the conflict as an unnecessary tragedy brought about by the Traditionalist coalition, who she believes recklessly risked dooming their entire species instead of simply surrendering to or negotiating wish the Izweski and avoiding devastating the nuclear exchange. It is possible she would've still become a healer if the contact war wouldn't have happened, but it is equally possible she would've followed in the footsteps of her fisher parent, or went on to do something else entirely with her life, likely never leaving the slums she was born in. She does harbor resentment towards the traditionalists over causing the nuclear exchange and dooming their planet, viewing their noble clans as reckless and egoistical. She is not overly loyal to the Hegemony, being raised in the poorer parts of it, but she is happy that it is working to recover from the contact war by seeking help from aliens and does not blame it for the contact war nearly as much as she blames the traditionalists. 2. She no longer suffers from the initial cultural shock of first venturing into human space, but she is still not fully used to the intricacies of human culture and society, such as sometimes forgetting that the "sinta stare" may be considered rude by some. She respects humanity and the skrell for helping her planet and species after the contact war, and believes that the unathi have much to learn from more advanced species, despite finding humans to be weird at times.
Lent23 Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Hey, we will be accepting this. Welcome to the coolest species >:)
