General Whitelist Requirements

What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?:
#8E5D1E

rgb(142, 93, 30)
#553A17

Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?:
They were revealed to me in a dream.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this species?: I’ve been playing as humans for as long as I’ve been on Aurora. I still love humanity, but now I’m interested in exploring what other species have to offer. Unathi are the most appealing of the lot to me by a large margin, for several reasons, chief among them honor-based and militant societies (a la Klingons/Krogan) have been of interest to me, even if this character isn’t directly involved in these concepts by virtue of falling more into the Fisher categorization.

What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?:
Unathi are an upcoming species in the spur coming from the backfoot after a rough stumble. Doomed planets aren’t unique to the Unathi, but they weigh a lot more heavily on a species that is as limited in its expansion into the stars so far. I feel this would weigh heavily on those paying attention to this, and I used that influence heavily on Koli’s formative years that lead to his decisions that end up with him on the Horizon.

Character Application

Character Name:Koli Zahotoo

Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon.

Koli was born in 2441, to two members of the Fishing League, both a part of the Hooks of Teht..Once he had grown older, a natural inclination towards a desire to build and a guiding hand by his parents saw him working with the guild’s aquaculturists, aiming to put himself at a better station in life than just a normal fisher, his own parents' words making it clear to him that they alone would not be able to sustain the growing population of the Southlands after the Contact War had marred Moghes.
His apprenticeship saw him moving between Teht and Razir with frequency, and learning quickly of the dangers radiation was posing not to just a livelihood, but the only place he knew as home. Growing up alongside the burgeoning technology of more advanced fisheries, with the help of Hephaestus Contractors, he learned how to maintain what he would come to consider the most vital part of coastal living, as the fishers struggled more and more in the passing years.
Hephaestus continued to be a growing influence as he became an adult, and quickly came to feel Hephaestus was the future, if not for Unathi, but for Moghes to have any chance of remaining habitable, and sustaining future hatchlings. Growing interest between making habitable buildings that could withstand the growing hostility of the Moghresian landscape, and the relation to the fisheries he was already helping maintain their resistance to encroaching levels of radiation, led him to become more specialized in structural and atmospheric engineering.
After acquiring the knowledge needed, all that was needed was the place to exercise this knowledge into expertise, and to further familiarize himself with the aliens of the broader spur, to better equip himself to deal with the inevitable future of Unathi in space, and hopefully Moghes.
He put his name forward for a further afield posting. The Horizon beckoned.

How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character.  (I am going to append ‘How does your character view the megacorporation they work for?’ to this as well, as I feel they both tie together)

The Phoron Scarcity and Solarian Collapse have especially driven the point home to Koli that Unathi need to be firmly planted on the Spurian Stage, and able to supply themselves in case greater woes strike again, and maybe even offer help to others when the time comes.
Koli views Hephaestus as ultimately the answer. Their fisheries and habitation construction allow Moghes to maintain its liveability until longer term answers can be found, and its mining and shipyard operations can be used to cement the system’s security, against any who might put the sovereignty of the Karszekani into question. They’re a needed anvil to shape the strength of the sinta that it may withstand whatever comes.

Hi, thanks for applying!

Your app looks good and has the majority of information we're looking for but I didn't see mention of Koli's spirituality/religion. Could you expand on that a bit; what they believe and how it influences them?

I was also curious about their clan. Are they the only child? Is their clan relatively small, and how does their clan composition affect Koli's decision to leave them behind for work off-planet?

Koli would be of the Sk'akh faith, identifying the most with the Fisher aspects of Sk'akh more readily, and feels as important as the Warrior is at maintaining law and safety and the Healer mending the sick and injured, the Fisher ensures the Warrior is fed enough to withstand evil, and the Healer is supplied with herbs to bring others back to health. This isn’t viewed from a lens of superiority, but that it's a vital part of the cycle that keeps Unathi life moving, especially in the face of a dying planet.

Koli would be the second child to his parents, a part of a clan in decline. Their first child was born before him by two years, an elder brother destined for more Warrior paths in life, and looking more to the stars as the world around them. However, their first journey to the stars ended in disaster, as he was lost after the sabotaging of the HMV Cataclysm. This event, and previous clan misfortunes have perceiving prospects of his clan in a dimming light, driving his perspective more towards a species-wide view, rather than just the betterment of his clan, even if the potential to set up a better future of his clan would definitely come from being successful in what he views is his mission.
